The next day ~
Entering the cafe half an hour early, I made myself presentable by setting my bag aside, tying my hair up and putting an apron on.
It was only when the clock struck four that girls who were more or less as old as I was, flooded in through the back door. There were around six to seven of them, I couldn't quite count. But they all had a few things in common, short hair tied up in a neat ponytail and light pink aprons similar to mine.
I swallowed as I was unaware of the fact that many others worked here. I wasn't the only one!
"So you're the newbie" the one with clear chocolate skin swung her arm over my shoulder. She was tall and beautiful, and I already felt inferior in terms of appearance.
"Yoona, right? " asked the one who was on the other side of the counter. I only nodded, eyeing them all and trying my best to greet them with a smile and a small bow.
" I'm Cheonsa " the one next to me let her arm drop off, stretching it out to take my hand in hers.
I responded with a small greeting making her chuckle. "I know you're new to this, if you're confused or anything, I'm always here".
"Thank you, that means a lot".
Making coffee had never been this hard. I remained fidgety even after serving around sixteen cups of coffee. I struggled to find the right flavor and it was just so difficult to apprehend the customer's mood in the first place.
"What do I add now? "
" Ugh, please help"
"I can't do this "
" Shit! I'm so sorry I didn't mean to spill this, shit! "
I facepalmed for the tenth time before calming myself down. I've got this!
Carefully filtering the black liquid, I looked up when the bell above the door went 'ting' and there was sudden chaos in the cafe. The girls left the store room and came up to the counter . They were everywhere and I guessed they were rushing to somebody who had just arrived?
"He's here" they cheered, pushing me aside to run forward and the customer who stepped in was now completely surrounded by a bunch of girls.
There were a few people who sat at their tables sipping on the hot drink, casually looking over their shoulders as if this was nothing more than normal.
"How does he manage to look so good? " Cheonsa whispered, sparking my curiosity.
I tapped on one of my acquaintance's shoulder, "Who is that?"
"Shush, just come look" she squealed before moving out to the other side of the counter.
I was the only one on this side, making coffee like an idiot. I sighed before standing on my toes to look over the girls' heads at the attractive stranger at the centre of the crowd expecting to see just another grey-eyed kid from the slum - stick thin and pale like a ghost.
But when my eyes found a pair of black orbs looking back, the world around me stilled for a second.
He had the type of face that would never age. His feather like black hair covered his forehead but brushed away from his brow and the next thing I noticed were his eyes getting smaller and smaller as his chiseled jaw lifted with a proud, pleasant smile. I could feel my heart melt as he pressed his plump pink lips against each other.
The girls made sure not to touch him as they admired his beautiful form. They moved like a pack of wolves surrounding an alpha as he moved, royal yet graceful.
He appeared before me, in all his grandeur. A casual black V neck shirt which gave me a sneak peek at his chest, soft skin stretched over strong muscle underneath.
It was when he cleared his throat, and the noise died down that I realised I was staring at him. I forced my eyes off of him as every cell in my body begged for another glance.
I gave in, looking up at his godly self, who stood taller than the rest, fully aware of the effect he was having on me and everyone else in the room; "Hello" I greeted, lowering my head but not my eyes.
He tilted his head a little to the side as the tiny silver earring dangling off his ear swayed back and forth. He had never stopped smiling but the way he was looking at me, made my cheeks turn red and my body go stiff.
"This one, please" he finally spoke with a voice I would gladly listen to for the rest of my life. His finger hovered over the menu card for a brief second before landing absently on one of the coffees.
I nodded quickly, moving at light speed to get it done. It would barely take two minutes to make but with him standing there, watching me work, made me feel like I was taking forever just to get one cup ready.
After seconds of shuffling around, I poured the liquid into a dark ceramic cup before placing it on a wooden plank along with brown sugar, a saucer and others, in front of him.
He reached out for the drink. It was when I saw his pale fingers and those thick metal rings that hugged them oh so closely that I realised who it was.
It was him.
