Scott's Perspective-

When I went to school the next day, I was surprised to see that Rick wasn't there.

"Maybe he's sick." Jimmy said.

"Oh...yeah, maybe."

"Okay...well I'm going to sit with Tango."

"Who?"

"Pearl's friend."

"Oh...okay."

I watched as Jimmy left and I sighed.

I had no one.

I sat by myself and looked around.

I saw people I knew, yet I felt alone.

Ever since Martyn-

I shook my head, stopping my thoughts.

I gotta get out.

I then saw Grian get up from his table with Scar and Mumbo, looking nervous.

He walked up to me and awkwardly said,

"Hi Scott."

"Hi."

He sat down and handed me a folded-up piece of paper.

"What's this?" I asked.

Grian took a deep breath, "A letter from Rick."

I titled my head, confused.

"What?"

"Just...read it."

I took the letter and opened it.

'Hey Scott.

I know we didn't have much time together, and I'm sorry. Well, we actually have had a lot of time together. I know you're probably really confused right now, but don't worry. I figured it out. Just ask for a wallet and the truth from Grian, he should tell you everything because I didn't have the chance to.

But for now, listen, well read. I am about to die. And right now, I am dead. But don't worry, please don't be sad, it was just my time to go. I know this is terrible, the two people who have helped you in your life have died, but don't give up on Jimmy. I know you might feel bad about disrespecting Martyn, but don't.

We both know that all he'd want is for you to be happy. And so does Jimmy. Just trust me. I know this is going to be a lot, but you have to trust Grian. And when you know the truth...know that I'm not trying to be a bad person. What happened in my life and my home...it sounded good. They promised me a family, they convinced people to join by promising your greatest desire. But it's all a lie. But I was hooked. He took me under his wing like a real father, and I made so many friends who treated me like I was their brother.

It was good. But I lost sight of myself, and I lost my home. I'm not from here, Scott. I'm from a different dimension. And in my home, I dated Martyn.'

I stopped.

My insides froze.

"He what?" I asked, my voice shaky.

"Scott, I don't get it all either- "

"Tell me the truth."

"Don't you want to finish reading the letter?"

"Tell me the truth."

Grian sighed.

He then took a deep breath and told me everything.

Stuff you wouldn't believe.

Stuff about Watchers, him getting torn apart, and then in the end, Martyn died to save him.

Grian then took out a wallet.

Rick's wallet.

He gave it to me and inside were pictures.

Pictures of Martyn and Rick together.

"No." I said, crying, "No, this- he isn't- "

I broke myself off with tears and Grian hugged me.

"I hate this."

"I do too."

I sniffed, "I just- I don't understand. Rick's not from here?"

Grian shook his head.

"How do you know?"

"He explains it in the letter."

I looked down at the piece of paper and continued to read.

'I know, mind blowing. But please, Scott, understand that in that dimension, you were with Jimmy. But here, Martyn loves you but now he's gone. And Jimmy loves you as well. I know he does. In almost every dimension I've traveled in, Jimmy liked you, despite you being with Martyn.

But...I'm not in control of you.

So you can do whatever. Ball up this letter and throw it away, keep this and try and understand, or do what Martyn did in the other dimension where you killed yourself and try and forget everything.

It's up to you.

-Rick Denson'

"I don't want the decision to be up to me." I said, "I can't do this."

I then looked up at Grian.

"Why did I have to get dragged into this?"

"I- Scott, I'm sorry, but- "

"No, this is your fault."

Grian sighed and looked down.

"Maybe it is."

"I- ..." I sighed and shook my head, balling up Rick's letter and stuffing it in my pocket before getting up and going to the restroom.

As I did, I ran into someone and fell down.

"Oh my cod, I am so sorry." I stuttered, getting up.

"No, it's okay. I'm alright." The guy said.

My eyes widened as he was wearing a white shirt that said 'Football is Life' and he had blonde hair.

"You okay?" He asked.

"I- bathroom."

I quickly sped away and heard the guy laugh at me from behind.

I sped past Jimmy's table, my face bright red, and Jimmy looked after me, concerned.

I took deep breaths as I entered the bathroom outside of the lunchroom.

That way no one'll find m-

"Hey Scott?"

I gasped as Jimmy walked in.

"H-hey Jimmy! What are you doing here?" I asked, cringing at how nervous my voice sounded.

Jimmy just stared at me, and I sighed.

"Sorry." I muttered.

"For what?"

"For doing this!"

"Just," Jimmy reached out his hand, "Can we talk somewhere else?"

I nodded and took his hand.

I felt my face heat up but ignored it as Jimmy took me out to the halls.

"Jimmy, you don't have to help me, you can go back to your friends." I said, slumping down.

Jimmy sat down next to me.

"They're not really my friends." He muttered.

"You sat with them today, they're clearly your friends."

"This is my first time talking with all of them. Well, except Pearl and Tango. But we don't all click like I do with you or Grian."

"Yeah? Well, Grian and his boyfriends are sitting at a different table."

"What about the other guy? Rick?"

"He's...sick."

"Oh...why don't we visit him later?"

"We can't."

"What? Why not?"

I looked up at Jimmy.

"Because...I er- have flute lessons later."

"Why not after that?"

"We can't."

"Why not?"

I looked at Jimmy before looking back down at my feet.

"Scott, what aren't you telling me?"

"You...can't know."

"Oh, you and Grian both now! I can't take this, Scott. I can't take being that person who's always shoved away. I watched you get with Martyn, now Grian's with Mumbo and Scar, and guess what? I'm in love with a guy who doesn't give a crap about me and can't even tell me the truth!"

My eyes widened.

Rick was right. Jimmy does like me.

"I'm trying to help, Scott. But I can't help you unless you let me into your life."

Jimmy then sighed.

"Tango was right, I just have to start getting over you."

He got up and started to walk away when I said,

"I'll text you when you can come over to my house."

"What?" He asked, turning around.

"Me and Grian will tell you everything at my house after my flute lessons. Well...to be honest, even I don't understand all of it. So Grian will explain everything to both of us."

"Really?"

"I'm sure of it."

Jimmy nodded and started to leave.

"And Jimmy?"

Jimmy looked over his shoulder.

"I...I think the guy you love may not give 0 craps about you."

Jimmy blushed and I smiled softly.

Jimmy smiled back and walked back into the cafeteria.

I took a deep breath and sighed, shutting my eyes.

It's going to be okay.

"Oh, but is it?"

I jumped and looked up.

I saw an adult I had never seen before.

"Er- hello?" I said, a bit scared at how he knew what I was thinking.

"Hi! Hard day?" He asked.

"Uh- yeah. But it's getting better."

"That's good. Do you happen to know a Grian Gotts?"

"My friend's Grian, actually." I said.

"That's great! I'm a substitute teacher and was told to give this to him by another teacher, but I need to go. Mind giving it to me for him?" The man asked, handing me a letter.

Second letter in less than an hour. Funny.

"Uh- no I can give it to him!"

"Great! Thanks! I'll see you, then!"

He smiled broadly as he left.

I looked at the letter before hearing the bell ring.

I sprang up and ran to grab my backpack.

I threw the letter in my bag, completely forgetting about it.
