me, you, and whatever that thing is
I laid still in my bed. The black sheets sticking to my legs and my hands gripped the metal headboard. The moon was high and shone through the open window on the other side of the room. My room was simple. All it had was a bed and a small wooden desk on the other side of the room. The floor was wood and creaked when you stepped on it the wrong way.
I have lived here for about two years now and I would never get used to the cold winter nights. I wasn't alone tonight however. Yew and Nikolai are staying here for a few days because I live closest to her 'holiness'. It didn't matter as long as they both left me alone and didn't get in my way I could care less. I stopped suddenly as my door opened and I rose my head slightly to see yew at my door.
He had his head down and a small blush was on his cheeks. The night unable to hide the pinkish glow. He messed with the bottom of his pajamas strings and I sat up showing I was awake. " What's wrong Yew?," I asked and I sounded like I had asked a small child or infant even. Not really expecting an answer to come quickly from the person at my door.
" I'm scared," he whispered and I looked at him for a moment and sighed. That was another thing that annoyed me about Yew. The smallest things terrify him and then no one can get on with their lives till he feels better.
" Scared? Of what?," I said and he looked at me and I saw tears in his eyes and I sighed. I moved out of my bed and walked over to him. The floor cold under my bare feet and my hair over my eyes, I held my arms out to Yew. He pulled away at first but soon turned and buried his face in my chest. His hot breath going through the thin fabric of my shirt and hitting my cold skin.
" I heard something that sounded like voices down stairs," he whispered unable to get a full sentence out at this rate. He was shaking in my arms and tears stained my shirt as he tried to contain himself. I ran my fingers through his hair hitting a few knots here and there making him wince or groan as he talked. I wasn't really listening, but he would at least feel better that I was here.
" I think your imagination is getting the best of you," I said and he pulled back and looked up at me and I starred into those eyes. Those eyes that seemed to glisten like gems themselves. Those eyes that light up whenever he smiles. These eyes I could get lost in forever. I slowly looked away and he held onto me tightly.
" I want to sleep with you tonight Janne. I'm to scared to go back down stairs," he whispered and I looked over at him about to protest but sighed. I didn't see the point in arguing. Knowing that he was going to get in my bed anyway weather I liked it or not. I slowly walked back to my bed and laid down. Burying my face in the soft sheets and closed my eyes. I felt Yew climb in soon after and he cuddled up close to my back to feel my warmth.
I felt my face heat up and I opened my eyes in shock, but did not move. Yew was silent next to me telling me he had fallen asleep. I sighed and slowly closed my eyes but shot up as I heard something crash down stairs. It sounded metal and Yew sat up and screamed as loud as he could. I covered my ears and walked over and embraced him and he held me tight. Burying his face in my neck while closing his eyes tight.
I slowly pulled back as the sound past and I looked out my door into what I could see of the dark hallway. Yew held my arm and I sighed and walked back over to my side of the bed and laid down. Yew shook me and leaned down to my ear. "Janne. What if someone's in the house? What if it's a g-g-gho-ghost!?," he quietly screamed into my ear.
I rolled over to look at him and I saw true terror in this mans eyes. I sighed once more and stood up walking over to my desk getting a lamp. It was made of rusted metal and had a silver handle. Nothing to special but got the job of lighting our way done. I slowly lit it by turning the small dial on the side and winced as I was blinded by the sudden light.
Yew slowly stood up as well and walked over and hid behind my back. His fingers lightly intertwining the back of my shirt. I sighed and slowly walked out into the dark hallway. The floor creaked beneath our feet and the cracked walls seemed to hold light in as we past them. I smirked as I heard Yew yelp as we stepped on a loose board that seemed to scream.
" You know Yew," I said in a fake scared voice." That it is said that hundreds of people have died in this house. They say it's cursed and all who shall live in it shall die of young age for their sin,". Yew hugged me closer and I felt my face heat up and I yawned wiping away the tears with my sleeve. Yew slowly loosened his grip once more and his breath was heavy against my back.
I stop as I heard rustling in the kitchen and slowly walked towards the door. The wood was cold and I jumped back when I heard a moan. Yew yelped and hugged me tight around the waist and I held my breath. Something was in my house and whatever that something was it was behind this door. I held my breath as I felt fear poke its ugly head. Yew buried his face into my back and I slowly shook my head and grabbed the doorknob.
The cold metal against my hand reminded me of death himself. I slowly turned the knob and pushed the door open as fast as I could. The door slamming against the wall probably leaving a new hole. The kitchen light was off but Nikolai sat at the table with a book and a lantern. He starred at us for a moment looking as concerned and confused as possible. Yew behind me slowly looked around me and gave a sigh of relief.
Nikolai stood up and looked at me before Leaving without a Single word. I sighed and headed back upstairs and Yew followed me. I was to tired to protest when he snuggled up against me. My head on his chest and his arms around me tight. I slowly closed my eyes and drifted to sleep. My dreams full of you, me, and the ghost of Angard residence.
