Taste of Defeat
" You're forcing us to stay behind in the colony!? " Pido asked, raising an eyebrow as he looked towards Syndan, who simply nodded.
He began to pace around the room, looking towards the protectors of the colonies. Syndan then smiled ever so slightly, as if he had already expected such a result from his comrades. " It seems that you lot have proven yourselves incapable of capturing the foreigner and incapable of stopping the advance of the Society of Peace and Mind...you are now all on the defensive..." He explained, turning away from them.
" And where might be your precious lapdog be, Xet announced this meeting and yet I do not see him here! " Pido exclaimed, raising his hands into the air as he let out a loud bit of laughter, many looking upon him worriedly.
Syndan walked forwards to face Pido, his smile simply increasing as the overconfidence of the man in front of him did. " I have faith in his ability, he has been tasked with a special mission that none of you have been informed on. For your words, I would chose them more carefully...if Xet is my lapdog...I can only wonder what you are in comparison..." He stated, chuckling.

The mobile transport had stopped, there was clearly some sort of disturbance in its machinations. Chang stood a few miles from it in a grassy plain, he began to train while transformed to his emperor state. If one could evolve their deck by bonding with it further, then anyone could. The enemy could be more powerful than he could even imagine, and that truly struck him to the core. " I must say I'm baffled..." A voice called out from the woods.
Chang immediately got into a fighting stance, raising his longsword as he turned to face the direction of the voice. A person emerged from the forest, adorned in a primarily gold uniform with black accents. " Who goes there! " He shouted, gripping his blade firmly.
" What can you possibly gain from aiding these terrorists? " He asked, raising an eyebrow towards him as he approached the teenager casually.
The question echoed in the back of his mind, but he wasn't sent here by chance. It wasn't any accident that the deck he now possessed appeared on Earth. Regardless, it was his only chance of going home. " I am Xet Oran, second in command of the Colony Defense Corps, and you are? " Xet asked, extending a hand to him, even though he was at a distance that one could not reasonably grab a hand.
" Don't make me kill you...stand back..." The Asian American replied, to which the Colony Defender chuckled.
" A bizarre name, but I am not one to judge...I assume you don't use that sword for talking so I believe I'll simply have to beat you into submission..." Xet replied, raising his hand in the air to reveal his deck attached to his wrist in the pale, brisk, moonlight.
" Emperor's Edict! Zhao Xu! " He exclaimed, grinning as orange robes coated his body, drawing another card from his hand, displaying an image of a small, round shield.
" Weapon Card! Dowager's Shield! " He shouted, as a shield materialized in his palm, Xet would soon run towards his foe, bashing his sword with his shield and grinning.
Chang fell back, only to let his anger get the best of him as he charged towards Xet to cut him down, only for him to raise his shield. The Colony Defender began to fall back, the battle moving to a large bridge that oversaw a large lake. The teenager continued his slashes towards the man, each one carefully blocked by the shield. With every stroke of his blade, his movements only grew slower as time went on. " You talk big for a man who's losing this battle..." Xet stated, smiling as Chang raised his sword into the air, bringing it down.
" You talk big for a man who hides behind his shield! " Chang shouted, only for his opponent to sidestep the attack, and then brutally bash the teenager with his shield, causing him to collapse onto the ground.
Xet drew another card from his deck, making sure that the teenager could see as he wanted to make sure his fiery hope and determination was extinguished entirely. He smiled in a way only a madman could do so. " Summoning Card...Empress Dowager Gao..." He said, as a woman adorned in green and golden robes emerged from the card, a grand white head dress upon her head.
She grasped Chang by his forehead with her hands. Unlike the other use of the summoning card he had seen, this one was slow and painful. Had the adolescent not been so exhausted from fighting, he could have broken free. It had seemed that this was his aim all along, to tire out the warrior so he could use the technique. Xet then brought out a vial from his robes, holding at his chest. The woman syphoned the teenager's blood through her fingers, and then placed them on the vial, transferring the blood onto it. " All that for a spoonful of blood...you may rest now " Xet stated, as the woman dematerialized after she served her purpose.
Chang howled brutally in pain as if a reaction to the experience had been somehow delayed, his eyes widening heavily, as if they were about to burst from his sockets. He gripped his head in agony, gritting his teeth in a desperate attempt to distract himself from his current ailment. " You should consider yourself lucky my objective was not to kill you...otherwise you would be in much greater agony than what you are screaming about now..." Xet added as he walked away, fading into the distant forest.

In the personal quarters of Syndan, a hologram appeared before him. It was the Crown Prince himself, Prince Bleu. " Syndan...I hope you realize the importance of your task...if we manage to lose the colonies...our people will suffer greatly...not only that but you will surely invoke the unhinged anger of my father " He stated, his hologram clasping it's hands together firmly.
Despite his title, he wore the same uniform as everyone else, but had to be the youngest out of all the Amalgams. He possessed brown, curly hair and a set of blue eyes, in addition to a very slim and small figure. " My liege, I have most of my forces on the defense as we speak...and my greatest asset is coming back to Tributary A with something that will change the course of this conflict...and turn it on its head..." Syndan replied, smirking as he looked upon the figure of the prince, who simply nodded as he faded away.
