Test and Harry Vs Basilisk
Emma's POV
I wake up on a cold damp stone floor. "Coal, Hermione" I say, but get no answer. "Coal! Can anyone hear me!" I shout trying not to cry. I'm in an unknown place with no one to guide me.
"Emma" a timid voice says.
"Ginny, is that you?" I ask relieved that someone was here. "Where are we? Where is Coal?" I ask her.
"I'm sorry, Riddle made me. I had no choice" she states.
"What do you mean?" I ask her and hear a thud somewhere in front of me. "Ginny? Ginny!" I shout, but she doesn't answer. I feel around and soon find a body. "Ginny" I say as tears fill my eyes and find her pulse. Then try to shake her awake. "Please wake up, I don't want to be alone" I plead.
"She won't wake" a guy says and I jump startled and he chuckles.
"Who are you? Your voice doesn't sound familiar" I state.
"I've gone by many names, but you can call me Tom" he tells me. "You intrigue me" he states.
"Why?" I ask him confused as I get to my feet to face where his voice is coming from. Something doesn't feel right. I have to try think of a way to get Ginny and I out of here.
"You're blind, the first blind person I've ever meet. I'd love to test a theory on you" he states.
"What theory?" I ask him.
"I'm curious to see what will happen when the basilisk looks into your eyes" he states. I gulp and back away. Nearly tripping over Ginny. "No need to be afraid, it'll be quick" he says in a false sweet tone. I feel him grab my arms and turn me to around as he says something in Parsel-tongue. I hear something heavy moving on the stone floor and close my eyes.
"None of that" he tells me. "Imperio" he says. "Open your eyes" he instructs. I try to fight it, but couldn't and open them.
Third Persons POV
The statue of Salazar Slytherin starts to move as it's mouth opens. Emma shivers in fear as she hears an ominous snarling . The Basilisk emerges from the darkness and starts to come into the light, growling menacingly. Tom smirks evilly and tells the basilisk to look into Emma's eyes. He does so and she screams before going still. Tom drops her.
"So she becomes petrified" he muses. He tells the basilisk he can eat Ginny and Emma later. And to return to the statue. The basilisk does so and the mouth closes again.
(Time skip)
Harry enters the chamber and sees the two girls laying on the floor. He races over to them. He sees Emma petrified and Ginny unconscious. "Ginny. No, Ginny. Please don't be dead. Wake up. Wake up! Please wake up" he pleads shaking her gently.
"She won't wake" Tom says and Harry turns to face him.
"Tom? Tom Riddle? What do you mean she won't wake? She's not..." Harry trails off.
"She's still alive, but only just" Tom tells him.
"Are you a ghost?" Harry asks him.
"A memory, preserved in a diary for fifty years" Tom explains.
"You've got to help me, Tom. There's a Basilisk" Harry tells him.
"It won't come until it's called" Tom tells him as he plays with Harry's wand. Harry notices and gets to his feet.
"Give me, my wand Tom" he says.
"You won't be needing it" Tom tells him.
"Listen, we've got to go. We've got to save them" Harry tells him. Gesturing to Ginny and Emma.
"I'm afraid I can't do that, Harry. You see, as poor Ginny grows weaker, I grow stronger" Tom tells him. "Yes, Harry. It was Ginny Weasley who opened the Chamber of Secrets" he states.
"No. She couldn't. She wouldn't" Harry says no believing him.
"It was Ginny who set the Basilisk on the Mudbloods and Filch's cat, Ginny who wrote the threatening messages on the walls. Who had the basilisk kidnap Emma" Tom tells him.
"But why?" Harry asks confused.
"Because I told her to. You'll find I can be very persuasive. Not that she knew what she was doing. She was, shall we say, in a kind of trance" Tom explains. " Still, the power of the diary began to scare her. And she tried to dispose of it in the girls' bathroom. And then, who should find it but you? The very person I was most anxious to meet aside from Emma" he states.
"And why did you want to meet me?" Harry asks him.
"I knew I had to talk to you, meet you if I could. So I decided to show you my capture of that brainless oaf Hagrid to gain your trust" Tom explains.
"Hagrid's my friend and you framed him" Harry sneers.
"It was my word against Hagrid's. Only Dumbledore seemed to think he was innocent" Tom tells him.
"I'll bet Dumbledore saw right through you" Harry says with a smirk.
"He certainly kept an annoyingly close watch on me after that" Tom sneers. "I knew it wouldn't be safe to open the Chamber again while I was still at school, so I decided to leave behind a diary, preserving my sixteen-year-old self in its pages, so that one day, I would be able to lead another, to finish Salazar Slytherin's noble work" he explains.
"Well, you haven't finished it this time. In a few hours, the Mandrake drought will be ready. And everyone who was Petrified will be all right again" Harry tells him.
"Haven't I told you? Killing Mudbloods doesn't matter to me anymore. For many months now, my new targets have been Emma and you" Tom tells him. "Emma was just to test a theory, but you" he sneers. "How is it that a baby with no extraordinary magical talent was able to defeat the greatest wizard of all time? How did you escape with nothing but a scar while Lord Voldemort's powers were destroyed?" he asks.
"Why do you care how I escaped? Voldemort was after your time" Harry states.
"Voldemort is my past present and future" Tom tells him. He turns toward the statue and uses Harry's wand to write his full name in flaming letters. He flicks the wand, and the letters rearrange themselves to say I AM LORD VOLDEMORT.
"You? You're the heir of Sytherin? You're Voldemort?" Harry asks shocked.
"Surely, you didn't think I was going to keep my filthy Muggle father's name? No. I fashioned myself a new name, a name I knew wizards everywhere would one day fear to speak when I became the greatest sorcerer in the world" Tom states.
"Albus Dumbledore is the greatest sorcerer in the world!" Harry exclaims.
"Dumbledore's been driven out of this castle by the mere memory of me" Tom reminds him.
"He'll never be gone! Not as long as those who remain are loyal to him" Harry tells him. They hear a bird's song and turn to see Fawkes flying towards them. Carrying the sorting hat, which he drops into Harry's hands.
"So this is what Dumbledore sends his great defender: A songbird and an old hat" Tom says unimpressed. "Shearhas- Samnathas- Sélithaeine" he says in parseltongue. The mouth of Salazar opens and the basilisk appears. "Parseltongue won't save you now, Potter. It only obeys me" he states. "Sethae- He- This" he says telling the basilisk to kill Harry.
Harry starts to run and Fawkes blinds the basilisk. But it could still hear and smell Harry. Who ran into the pipes and managed to lose it. He went back to the chamber and checked on Ginny. To feel her pulse even weaker them before. "Yes, Potter. The process is nearly complete. In a few minutes, Ginny Weasley will be dead, and I will cease to be a memory. Lord Voldemort will return... very... much... alive" he explains.
The Basilisk bursts out of the water surrounding the Slytherin statue and thrashes about. Harry turns toward the Sorting Hat, where a sword magically appears. Harry, without hesitation, grabs the sword and holds it up defensively as the Basilisk slithers toward him. Harry races for the statue and begins to climb it; the Basilisk blindly follows Harry's movements, using its tongue to track his location and lifts its body off the floor.
The Basilisk uses its tongue again to find Harry's current position directly in front of it; Harry swings the sword at the Basilisk; it lunges directly at him, he dodges, and it smashes right into the statue. Harry climbs higher as the Basilisk lunges at him again, missing again. Harry climbs onto the top of the statue's head, the Basilisk lunges at Harry repeatedly as he swings the sword wildly at the creature. Eventually, the Basilisk sends Harry rolling down the side of the statue, causing him to lose the sword.
Harry hurries to retrieve the sword; the Basilisk lunges right at Harry once more. Harry stops the sword just in time, and rams it right through the Basilisk's upper jaw. The Basilisk bellows in pain until Harry pulls the sword out. Harry screams in pain as one of the Basilisk's venomous fangs just fell into his arm; he pulls the fang out. The Basilisk thrashes around, roaring and bellowing in pain, collapsing under its weight, and falls backwards to the floor.
Harry returns to Ginny's side and while Tom gloats about Harry dying soon due to the basilisk's venom. Harry uses the basilisk fang to destroy Tom's diary. Killing him and freeing Ginny. Fawkes then heals Harry with his tears. Together Harry and Ginny carry Emma back to where Harry had left Ron with Lockhart.
