"Guys! It's snowing outside!" Stephanie shouted from the living room happily.

James and Emma smiled and walked into the living room nonchalantly.

"Awesome." James said. He took Emma's hand and they went to look out the window together. There is a flurry of snow coming down and there is a thin layer of snow on the ground.

"It's so pretty..." She muttered under her breath.

"Yeah it is, would you like to go outside and walk in the snow?" James offered politely looking down at her.

"Sure, let's change into our winter gear real quick and meet back downstairs." Emma assured.

"Alright, sounds like a plan." James nodded.

Emma and James went downstairs and they went to their rooms to get dressed for the cold weather. She put on her winter coat and a pair of fuzzy boots. She walked back downstairs to where James was waiting in the living room. "Alright, let's go then."

They make their way down to the main doors. "Yay! I'm so excited." Emma said squeezing James' hand.

"Hey! We're going to have snow for Christmas!" Emma was so happy about this. Only twenty more days until Christmas. Let's just hope the snow doesn't go away.

"So... Ready to go outside and brave the cold?" James asked her. She nodded excitedly. Emma have always loved snow, ever since she was a little girl. They stepped outside and she was immediately cold. She shivered, but eventually warmed up.

All of a sudden she got hit with something in the back. Emma turned around and James was laughing. "Excuse me. How dare you!" She laughed and gathered the snow in her hands to throw at him. "Ha! Straight in the face!"

"Hey! That's not fair!" James whined as he threw another snowball at her.

"Oh, it's on..." she grinned as she started to gather snow in her hands.

She squealed as he nailed her, throwing another his way while she looked for cover. A snowball hit her back, and she gasped at the chill. Emma threw a few at him, getting his shoulder and chest while she laughed. She may have been cold, but the ice and snow was her element, it was part of her quirks.

Emma shaped a few more snowballs in her hand, firing them off at rapid speed while her friend could hardly keep up. "I don't think you're gonna win this one, James..."

"I can still try!" He grinned as he launched one, and it hit the side of her head as she ducked at the correct time.

They both ran around the yard throwing snowballs at each other.

James ran towards Emma and threw another snowball. This time, he actually hit her, right on her nose. She sneezed before wiping the snow off her face. "Your sneeze is adorable." He spoke, his voice laced with innocence. His silly compliment made Emma feel a tingle in her stomach. "Shut it, James." she groaned and grabbed another handful of snow, throwing it towards him.

"That's what you get!" She yelled and laughed after his own face got hit by her snowball. He smirked and fastened his footsteps, coming closer to her. She tried to move backwards, but James made a movement and suddenly, she was lying down in the snow. His hands pinned her wrists on both sides of her head.

Their breaths mixed as they looked into each other's eyes. His blue eyes seemed to have turned a little darker than usual. Now Emma was the one smirking and rolled the both of them around until she was on top of him. His chest vibrated as he laughed. "Are you okay," he breathed out. Both of their eyes twinkled with excitement.

"Y-Yeah, I'm fine," Emma smiled eyes wide open as she still on top of James looking shocked.

"I'm sorry, I lost my balance and the snow kind of make me trip," James answered as his cheeks started to warm up.

"No, no, I know. I totally understand... I thought the same thing too," Emma chuckled softly.

She glanced back up at her sister when she heard a click, to see Stephanie's cell phone pointed at them, with a smile on her face.

"Sorry, it was too cute!" Emma blushed, looking away. Her sister knew her real feelings for James, along with basically everyone else, except the one person that mattered.

James rolled them around again and stood up. "I- uh, I'm so sorry." He murmured as he stuck out his hand. Emma took a hold of it and he pulled her up from the snowy ground. His actions were a bit too fast, therefore she ended up wrapping her arms around his neck to keep herself steady. He gulped and gently placed his hands on her hips.

"No, it's alright. It's not your fault..." she grinned sweetly.

Emma was done with being a proper adult, she needed a bit of fun and she had always been skilled at finding a way to do just that when alone. She tramped back up to her house, ignoring the dampness spread through her jeans and leaned her shovel against the white siding. Hopping back down to her yard, she took her first step into the heavy snow.

It was well past her knees and she felt like an explorer of the nineteenth century, mapping out the arctic as she resorted to eating her dogs and crewmates. Well, not exactly that but her imagination wandered easily and to peculiarly dark places.

Emma picked up a clump of snow in her mittened hands and packed it into a ball. She tossed it at the fence and it exploded into dust, falling back to the sheets below. She smiled and continued fighting through the thick carpet below her, she stopped and rolled another ball between her hands, dropping it before her but it only rested upon the surface of the snow.

She pushed it forward lazily and slowly it grew until it was bigger than her fist and then as big as her head. Admiring the accumulating orb, she pushed harder as it grew heavier until finally stopping at the threshold of her lawn. Emma had not thought of what she was doing until the ball stood knee high before her and shrugged at the idea brewing in her head.

Next Emma began another orb, this one smaller than the last and she rolled it next to the first. She tried to lift it onto the bigger one but found herself too weak to get it more than half way onto the bottom. She set it back down and put her hands on her hips, biting her lip as she tried to muster the strength to try again.

''Hey,'' He stopped just beside her half-built snowman, "You look like you need some help."

"Oh, do I?" Emma asked and tried not to let her embarrassment show, "And how long were you watching me?"

"Not very," He mused as he eyed the two large snowballs, "It's just not every day you see a grown woman making a snowman by herself."

"Well, you know, I don't usually do it by myself," she kidded awkwardly, "I have a Snowman Society and we go around building Frostys across the city."

"Really?" James raised his brow with a grin.

"No," Emma answered with a strained smile, "I'm just really bad at joking."

"Ha, no, it was funny," He assured weakly, "Look, can I help you with that?"

"Sure, you look like you'll have better luck," She stepped back so that he could pass, "I'll just get started on the head."

"Right," He bent down and wrapped his arms around the snowball, groaning as he lifted it up onto the first one, "Ugh, there we go.''

Emma began to roll the head, keeping it smaller so that she could get it to him in one piece. She returned with it and he took it generously in his arms before hoisting it onto the top. She was glad for it as the snowman was nearly taller than her.

"Well, he's quite handsome," James commented as he stood back admiringly, "Though not as much as myself."

"Huh," she stifle a chuckle and shake her head, "Thanks for your help."

"Not at all," He shrugged and removed his eyes from the snowman, "I like doing stuff like this, you know, reminds me of when I was a kid."

"Yeah, me too," Emma said lightly, "I mean, they're the perfect excuse to have fun."

"Maybe, but they have all the creative control," He explained and his eyes crinkled cheerily, "Usually I just end up watching."

"Yes, well, this snowman isn't very appealing, is he?" She looked back to her creation.

"Not yet," James reached into his pocket, digging around until he pulled forth an orange carrot, "I, uh, didn't come entirely unprepared."

"Oh, wow," she took the proffered vegetable, "I think maybe you were watching longer than you say you were."

"Well, that's all I've got," James rolled his eyes, "You'll have to do the rest yourself."

"Alright," she shoved the carrot into the snowman's head, "I think he'll do just fine with only a nose."

"A blind and mute snowman?" James mused as he smoothed out a crater in the snowman's torso, "I guess."

"Whatever," Emma kicked the snow around her feet, "It's getting cold anyhow. My luck, it'll snow again and he'll be a mountain in the morning."

"It is. Cold, I mean," He commented and rubbed his reddening cheeks with his gloved hands, "You want some hot chocolate? I could make one if you want. I've more than enough for an extra mug."

"Sure..." She replied smiling.

"Good," He smiled and gestured her forward, "And maybe later, I can show you how to build a proper snowman."
