Chapter 7 What happened to you
"Hey... where have you been?" Jessica asked walking over to me. Standing there covered in filth she took one look at me as her face expression went from a smile to anger.
"Emery..." she scowled, holding her forehead, "don't tell me you went back out there?"
I rolled my eyes, as I looked back at her and replied, "then don't ask." As I walked past her and headed for the kitchen to grab something to eat, she followed behind me insisting on talking. "You know you could get hurt out there right?"
"But I didn't!" I snapped, as I pulled out a loaf of bread and a couple slices of turkey.
"Well you look horrible...what happened to you?" she asked, in deep concern.
"I got stuck in the rain, and caught a flat tire," I replied, as I hopped up on the counter, eating my sandwich.
"Oh my god Em," she muttered.
"Yeah... I know" I whispered, with embarrassment, "I ended up being ok though, help did end up coming, eventually" I smirked looking over to her, as she stood against the fridge shaking her head.
"What...?" I sighed, then continued to explain, "look, it was raining extremely heavy... and I ended up having a flat tire, nobody was around to help, so I just got in the car and fell asleep. Then this guy came out of nowhere knocking on the window, he offered to help put on the spare, so I let him... no harm done."
"Hmm... guy huh?" she mumbled, in curiosity. "Jess please..." I replied.
She crossed her arms as she grinned and waited for details.
"What else do you want me to say?" I asked, as I took my last bite of my sandwich.
"Well how did he look, was he good looking...? " she snickered, as she was suddenly interested. "Was he good looking?!" I repeated, rolling my eyes up to the ceiling, "he was more than good looking, he was dreamy..." I sighed, as I shook my head.
"Wow..." she smiled, "really?"
"Yeah... but don't get too happy, I probably won't see him again, actually I'm sure I won't," I sighed.
"Wait, why wouldn't you?" she scowled.
"Are you crazy?!" I snapped, "look at me, plus I was so up and down with him, one minute I was flirting, then the next I was standoffish, he probably thinks I'm nuts, I seriously doubt if he was interested."
"I'm sure he wasn't thinking that way Emery," she suggested. Gazing over to her I responded, "I'm pretty sure he was, plus he's like, normal."
"Normal...?" she asked, in confusion, "what exactly is that supposed to mean?"
"Jess, what the hell do I know about normal?" I cringed, as I became frustrated.
Her eyes narrowed over to mine. "You can't keep doing this to yourself Emery," she responded.
"Jess... I can't right now," I replied, as I jumped down off of the counter and stormed out of the kitchen.
