All I could do was think about how I couldn't get to Emery fast enough, as I flew down the highway heading to the lake. I needed to talk to her, I wanted to explain, damn! how did I not see the signs, I thought to myself.

Finally I arrived at the wooded area, and as I slammed on my brakes and shoved my gearstick into park, "Emery...! I yelled out to her as I hopped out of the car. She was standing on the edge of the pier and her back was facing towards me, and no matter how much I called her, she kept avoiding me. I took off

running down the hill as fast as I could, I just needed to get to her, was all I kept thinking. Finally, I had reached the pier. Trying to catch my breath, I slowly walked up to her.

 "Go away Carter..." she sniffled.

"Emery..." I groaned, "Jessica and Adam told me about everything, please can we talk...?" I asked, as I stood right behind her.

She exhaled deeply then slowly turned toward me, and as more tears began to drop down her cheeks, I grabbed her and wrapped my arms around her as I sighed and said softly... "you'll be ok, I promise."
