Today I woke up in a better mood, I felt so relieved now that I was able to hash everything out with Carter yesterday. Yawning and stretching... I reached under my pillow for my cellphone. I wanted to see if he replied from texting him the address last night, and he did. A smile grew upon my face as I sat up against my headboard and texted him back.

Good morning Carter, or afternoon rather, I'm just now waking up. I'm happy that you received the address, what time should I be ready for you to pick me up today?

I blushed as I bit down on my lip, I couldn't wait to see him again. Jumping out of my bed I yelled for Jess. I wanted to tell her that I had made up with Carter yesterday, and that I was going to see him again today.

"Jess...!" I yelled for her, as I grabbed my robe and headed for the bathroom. I didn't get a response, so I checked her room to see if she was still asleep. Hmm, now where did she go, I wondered.

Me and Jess haven't really been speaking lately, due to me falling into depression over the weekend. "Guess I'll catch her up later," I said to myself as I sighed, then closed her bedroom door.

Quickly, I took a shower because time was approaching fast and soon Carter would be here.

Rushing... I dabbed my body with the towel, then threw on a pair of jeans and a short sleeve black shirt. I slipped on a pair of boots and brushed my hair

back into a ponytail. Now I'm ready, I thought to myself.

"Emery...!" I heard a man's voice yell from downstairs, "Emery...!" he yelled again, but this time he didn't sound too pleasant.

"Adam?!" I shouted back.

"Yeah it's me! get down here!" he demanded.

He didn't sound too happy, and at this point I started to wonder, what did I do now? Grabbing my hoodie, swiftly I went to see what Adam wanted. As I started to run down the stairs, I could see him and Jess standing at the bottom.

"What!? what happened?!" Their faces were full of concern, and Adam was standing there staring at me with his arms crossed.

"Where were you last night?" he asked, in a deep voice.

"I was out with Carter... why?" I replied.

Jess took a deep breath and shook her head in disbelief, "why are you shaking your head like that, you don't believe me?" I asked.

She sighed, as she turned her face away from me, "you know what Jess, you don't have to believe me, he's on his way here now to pick me up you'll see," I scowled, "and why are you guys questioning me?" I wondered, as I started to become angry.

"Jessica told me you were depressed the other night over your date, and that you stayed in bed all day."

"So!"

"So?!" he repeated, "you lied to me, you told me that you had a good time."

"Ok and?!" I snapped, "I don't have to tell you everything Adam..."

"Oh... you're right about that kid, because it seems like you've been keeping a lot from me lately,"

he said, sarcastically.

"And what is that supposed to mean?" I wondered, as my eyes narrowed over to Jess.

"You've been having nightmares again, haven't you?" he asked as he looked at me with hard eyes, daring me to lie.

"Jess..." I groaned, as my eyes flashed back over to her.

"I'm sorry Em... I didn't know what else to do, so I went to go talk to Adam."

"You could have talked to me Jess...!" I snapped.

"How Em...?! you shut me out, and you really haven't been here lately," she responded.

"I told you I was with Carter!"

"Yeah... and I bet you still haven't told him anything yet, am I right?"

I dropped my head and fell into silence.

"Listen Emery," Adam chimed in and took a deep breath, "I think it's time that you get some help," he suggested.

"No Adam... I'm fine, I don't need any help," I replied, trying to convince him.

"What is the big deal?! I don't understand why you're so against it."

"Because I'm broken Adam...! ok, and you just think that they're going to magically fix me or something, well they can't, not unless they can bring my mother back," I snapped.

"Emery..." Jess sighed, as a tear dropped down her face.

"That's it young lady! you're going!" Adam demanded. I could tell that he did not like my response. "No..." I groaned.

"Oh ... yes you are, and I will drag your ass out here if I have to," he warned.

"Come on Em..." Jess said sadly.

I started to become overwhelmed, as I feltcornered and pressured. I can't believethis was happening, I thought to myself, as I stood there staring at theboth of them. I didn't want to be bothered anymore and I just wanted to leave,then suddenly the doorbell rang.
