Chapter 4 Car trouble
There were a few seconds of silence, as we walked over to grab the spare tire out of the trunk.
"Oh my god!" he yelled, as his eyes narrowed straight to my hands.
"Oh this?" I said, as I rolled my eyes, "Yeah... It's nothing, I'm fine."
"Your hands are covered in scrapes and cuts, how are you fine?" he asked, as he began to panic.
"I think I have something in my car you can wrap your hands up in," he offered.
And as he turned to walk towards his car I shouted out, "no stop! I said I was fine..." Stopping in his tracks, he looked back at me and replied, "look! I'm just trying to help you out, if you don't want me to, I can leave." He stood there staring at me with intensity in his eyes, and I could tell he was becoming frustrated.
"I'm sorry... I just had a terrible night, I'm dirty, I look a mess, and I just want to go."
His eyebrows dropped low as his lip curved.
"What?" I said quickly but calmly. Looking me up and down, he nodded his head and replied, "ok then."
Eyeing him sideways as he walked back over to fix the tire, he peaked up at me and a flash of shyness came about. His beautiful dark brown eyes stared deep into mine, and for a split second, I found myself blushing. Suddenly I was stunned, he was so incredibly attractive, but who was I kidding? Quickly I reminded myself that I was in no position to pursue him, my life was a total wreck... and all I would do is bring him down with me.
"So... you're from around here I'm guessing?" he asked.
"Unfortunately..." was all I could say, as I snapped out of the deep thought.
"Unfortunately, huh?" he replied.
"Yeah..." I replied back with a smirk on my face. "So, do you want to tell me now why you were out here?"
"No not really..."
"Hmm" he muttered, "well I'm surprised no one came looking for you, your family must be worried." he wondered, as he looked up at me. I paused as my eyes dropped, then mumbled back, "what family..."
A confused expression came upon his face as his eyes flashed over to me, "Excuse me?" he said in suspense, as he stared at me waiting for an answer. My voice became shaky as I replied, "never mind forget it..."
"Are you sure?" he wondered, and with a heavy sigh, I looked over to him asking, "are you almost done?"
