It was now Monday and I was back at work. I tried to keep myself busy so I could avoid Adam. I knew he was going to want to hear about the date with Carter, but I just did not want to talk about it.

"Hey kid!" he said, as he walked over to me, "we were so busy I didn't get the chance to ask you about your big date."

So much for avoiding him, I thought to myself.

"So how did it go, did you enjoy yourself?" he asked, curiously.

"I did... I mean everything was cool, I had a few drinks, and the band was nice... yeah, I had a good time," I partially told the truth.

"That's great kid!" he said excitingly, "see what happens when you try?"

"Yeah... I see..." I sighed, knowing that I wasn't being completely honest, "Adam, you don't mind if I leave a little early today, do you?" I asked, changing the subject.

"Well it's not as busy now, so you should be able to," he said, "you're ok though right?" he started to wonder. "I just don't feel too good, still kinda recuperating from the weekend you know," I lied, knowing the real reason why I didn't feel good was because of Carter.

"You must have really had a good weekend," he chuckled, "ok well go ahead and clock out, and I'll stop by later to check on you," he offered.

"Thanks Adam," I replied, and signed out of the register.

"You got it kid," he smirked.
