After enjoying one another, I climbed on top of him to lay my head down on his chest. Wrapping his arms around me and feeling the warmth of his body was soothing. As he kissed me on my forehead, he whispered to me, "I enjoyed being with you tonight Emery," then drifted off to sleep.

Now that I'm not distracted by making love to him, fear started to overcome me as reality set in, my life was not that great and I was barely living... broken and shattered, what could I possibly offer him, nothing.

What are you doing Emery? I thought to myself, as I looked up at him sleeping so peacefully. Silently I broke free from his arms. I needed to leave and even though it killed me, I thought it was the best thing to do.

As I put on my clothes, I grabbed my jacket and rushed towards the door. Looking back at him and feeling guilty, suddenly I stopped. Quietly I walked back over to the bed and for a minute I stood there watching him.

"I'm sorry Carter..." I whispered, then turned away. I could only hope that he would forgive me.
