Chapter 31. The makeover
I must admit we did a good job putting this outfit together, I thought to myself, as I stared into the mirror. The dress was not too long or too short, it stopped right above the knee, it was perfect. The jean jacket vest blended in well with the boots, which actually made the dress pop.
"You like?" Jessica asked, as she stood in the doorway watching me twist and turn my body in the mirror.
"Yeah... it's nice," I smirked.
"A little different from the dark side huh..." she chuckled, referring to my hoodies, jeans and leather jacket wear. I rolled my eyes and shook my head and didn't even respond.
"Ready for the second part?" she asked, as she rubbed her hands together.
"Yeah... about that Jess, please don't make me look like some clown or something."
"Em... I got you," she assured me.
"Ok..." I sighed.
She started with a light eyeshadow and then mascara. Reaching for the eyeliner she began to glide it across the bottom lashes of my eye.
"Hold still Em... and stop blinking."
"I can't! you're going to poke my eye out."
"I'm not going to poke your eye out, just hold still!" she demanded, "ok perfect! now just a little blush to finish..." she recommended.
"Hey Jess... I said don't go overboard!" I worried, as I jumped up to try to take a look in the mirror... "Oh no you don't," she said trying to block me free looking, "you can look when I'm finished, now sit back down and relax," she ordered.
"Fine..." I uttered.
After she accomplished my makeup, she quickly ran the curling iron through my hair. "All done, and now you can look," she smiled. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath as Jess brought the mirror over to me. "Open your eyes silly..." she giggled, and slowly I did.
"Oh my god, wow Jess...!" I said in shock, "looks really good..."
"Never doubt my skills Em..." she said, in a playful conceited way.
"Right...!" I replied, still staring in the mirror.
The light brown shadow blended in nicely with my skin tone, the mascara and eyeliner gave me an edgy look, and as far as the blush, well that gave me life. My hair was soft and flowy, and styled completely different than I usually wear it.
"Ok Cinderella... we have to go now," Jess said playfully, as she pulled me away from the mirror.
"Wait! I'll meet you at the car, I forgot to put on my earrings."
"Ok but hurry," she insisted.
Quickly, I searched through my earring box, and grabbed a pair of pink studs that matched perfectly with the flowers in my dress.
The horn started blowing and I began to panic, "oh god she's going to leave me," I said out loud. As I rushed out of my room and flew down the hallway, suddenly I stopped and took a few steps back. Glaring over at my mother's bedroom I groaned, as I slowly walked over and opened the door, "wish me luck mom..." I whispered to her, as it felt like her presence was here with me.
