He kissed me on my forehead as we broke free, "ok we need to get to work now," he insisted. "I'll be right out," I replied. I needed a few minutes to calm down from Adam trying to set me straight.

Adam wasn't that much taller than me, if I could guess, I would say he was about 5'8", a little husky with brown eyes, and a beard that started to show specks of grey.

He was pretty cool and lovable at times, but he could also be very stern and hard on you if he really cared about you. Adam cared about me, so you could imagine how it's been between him and I this last past year. (I've definitely been a pain in his ass.)

"Emery!" he yelled, out to me.

"I'm coming!" I shouted, as I began to walk

out to the front.

"I'll help these customers; can you go help those two over there at the coffee station please... thank you," he ordered.

As I gazed over at the two men, I noticed they were wearing white long sleeve shirts, black pants with steel toe boots, and radios that were clipped on to the side of their belts. Their backs were facing towards me, so I couldn't really tell who they were, but judging by the gear that they were wearing, I could tell they were paramedics.

"Hey... can I help you with anything?" I asked, as I walked over to them.

"Yea, I'll take a medium French vanilla coffee with cream and 3 sugars," one replied, as he looked over to me.

"You gotta be kidding," I mumbled.

"Emery...?" he said shockingly, as he smiled.

This isn't happening... I thought to myself, as I stood there in disbelief.

"Wow... this is crazy, how are you?" he asked, in an exciting way.

Standing there staring at him I froze... I mean literally, as I tried to convince myself that this wasn't real. And as he stood there waiting for something to come out of my mouth, finally, in a soft- spoken voice I replied, "I'm good Carter, how are you?"
