I... despise... grid art!

I absolutely positively one hundred point five percent HATE using GRIDS to DRAW.

How do I put this... it's cheating!

C'mon, use your eyeballs. Printing out a picture and drawing grids only to convert the little squares on a paper and call it original art? You are directly copying a photograph.

I understand looking at a separate picture as reference, but when you copy each line straight from the picture? ARG!

A piece in the Art Show beat my Charcoal Cave (something from my imagination because I hate copying pictures - it isn't artwork. It's the art of copying someone else's artwork.) and it was GRID DRAWN. Of course it looked nearly flawless, because it was directly from a photography picture.

"Oh it's so original!" "Gorgeous!" A these comments I hear people say are just enraging me. Someone who didn't care enough and just looked up a pretty picture to copy won 1st. You have any idea how hard it is to use 0 picture reference?!?!

So with this current assignment, from above, I am furious. Art classes teaching students to copy?

That and grids are my mortal enemy.
