When FWhip started at Jade Mountain Academy, he did not expect to be flying through the rain in the middle of the night looking for his clawmate.

After the cave collapse and Jimmy (in what was a very impulsive decision) leaving the academy to presumably go find Joel (what his intentions were with Joel, FWhip did not know, so he could only hope they were good ones), Gem and Lizzie had (a couple of hours later) decided to drag their winglet out to go find Jimmy.

A few of them had opted to stay behind (the SkyWing dragonet unfortunately did not have that choice as his sister practically dragged him out of the academy).

Scott had insisted that he was above such things (like going outside, FWhip noted), and plus why would he willingly look for a deranged murderer (a sentiment which the firescales dragonet agreed with)? Pearl was more than willing to hunt down Joel but, after seeing the state of some of the younger students after the cave collapse, decided to stay behind and look after the younger dragonets in the school.

Joey didn't want to come along, which surprised absolutely nobody.

And so, with an agreed point to meet back up at, the group had split up to first find Jimmy. Of course, it was still the middle of the night (two or three hours from sunrise if FWhip had to guess) and it was raining, so flying around looking for their clawmate wasn't fun, especially when the tribrid had like a two hour head-start on all of them.

When they did find Jimmy, then they'd continue the search for Joel.

FWhip had been instructed to search on basically the opposite side of the mountain to everyone but Katherine, who he could see out of the corner of his eye. She was flying with a lot more grace than him, her wings outstretched and a bored expression on her face like she wasn't constantly being hit with raindrops and unwelcome gusts of wind.

FWhip, however, was having much more trouble. He was great at flying, but it was rather distracting that every time a raindrop hit his scale it just sort of sizzled and then vanished. The sizzling noise (the SkyWing knew it was evaporation but he found it far funnier to refer to it as a sizzling noise) was pretty much constant, so he couldn't really hear much else.

The random gusts of wind were not helpful in the slightest. There was no warning of them- one moment his flight would be calm apart from the sizzling noise, and the next he'd be thrown towards the ground by wind and barely manage to catch himself before he crashed. FWhip then would have to fly all the way back up to the height he had previously been at (he and Katherine were flying quite high up so they could see as much as possible).

Oh, and he was pretty sure it was thundering, which almost certainly meant lighting, which was also very fun.

Eventually, he and Katherine split up entirely as FWhip began flying closer to the ground to get a better look.

He could only guess whether Jimmy had stopped to take shelter from the rain or if he was dumb enough to fly around like his clawmates were doing, but based on what the SkyWing knew about his part MudWing friend, Jimmy wouldn't be too fond of the weather and would hide till the rain ended, so searching closer to the ground made sense.

FWhip shook his head violently as another gust of wind sent him barrelling sideways, practically rolling around midair as he attempted to steady himself. He attempted to shout a series of very creative curses (if he did say so himself) at the sky, but his voice was drowned out by the whistling wind and the sound of thunder. There also appeared to be some form of lighting striking nearby.

Stupid weather. If the weather was a dragon, I would totally kick its a- His train of thought was interrupted by a brief flash of colour in the swathes of clustered copses beneath him and he drew to a halt, flapping his wings violently to keep himself in place as he scanned the area again.

There it is again! The colours that were disrupting the green stretching on for miles underneath him were definitely scales of some sort.

FWhip paused before attempting to shout as loud as he could so he could be heard over the gale. "JIMMY? IS THAT YOU?" He paused thoughtfully again before adding, "IF IT'S SOME RANDOM DRAGON AND I'M SHOUTING AT YOU FOR NO REASON, I'M REALLY SORRY."

The scales appeared again, although whoever the scales belonged to froze as the SkyWing started shouting, and FWhip could have sworn he saw the dragon look up at him, but between his repeated blinking because of the wind and the rain distorting his vision, he couldn't even attempt to distinguish the dragon's scale colour or tribe before the stormy weather threw him sideways again.

"BY ALL THE SHINING MOONS, ARE YOU KIDDING ME-" FWhip continued to mutter curses under his breath as he tried to fly against the wind to where he had seen movement. He then paused uncertainly, an alarming thought coming into his mind.

What if that dragon was Joel? FWhip frowned uneasily. Although they were trying to find Joel as well as Jimmy, he would much rather face off with the psychotic MudWing with his friends instead of alone.

"ARE YOU A PSYCHOPATH BY ANY CHANCE?" If there was any response to the dragonet's shouting, it couldn't be heard over the rumbling of thunder, which was now louder than ever. Bright smashing suns, that is not fun to listen to.

FWhip glanced sideways at another flash of light that meant lightning, groaning internally. Man, I'm gonna have to head back soon, he thought, frowning as the sizzling sound was overpowered by an almost crackling sound.

This is stupid. Storms suck. He complained silently, squinting at his surroundings, which had suddenly gained a blue tinge in the second that FWhip had blinked. I should probably-

His thoughts were cut off by a flash of light, a sudden searing pain in his wing, and then darkness.

Also the other dragon wasn't Joel or Jimmy btw :] they weren't an emperor/empires character either 👀well they technically are an empires character but I'm focusing on a different character of theirs :D

Also they were the ??? character in the character list :D
