I feel like I've written about this chapter so often but its only been one other time that I can think of.

Mount Justice

October 01, 18:13 EDT

Kaldur and Robin were training as Zatara, Captain Marvel, Wanda and Artemis watched. They paused their sparring, walking over to the two girls to chat. They turned, watching M'gann, Conner, and Wolf walk by. Robin leaned in to the group. "You know they're a couple, right?"

"I believe I knew before they did." Kaldur chuckled.

Pietro and Wally walked in from another hallway, bickering over something trivial. "Should we tell them?"

"I don't think it is our place."

Batman came in through the zeta tubes, commanding the computer to put on the national news. The news was talking about giant plant creatures attacking Metropolis and the Justice League intervening. Robin asked if they should help.

"No, the League will soon have the situation under control that is not why I am here."

"Oh, okay, just felt like showing off." Pietro mumbled. "Weird flex."

Pietro!

What!

Shush.

"According to your intel, Sportsmaster supplied Blockbuster formula to Kobra."

"Who combined it with Bane's venom to create Kobra-Venom." Wally added.

"Which the Brain used to create his animal army." Robin joined in the sharing of information.

"The Brain also used inhibitor collars, like the ones at Belle Reve." M'gann pointed out.

"Batman, is it possible the plants are on Kobra-Venom too?" Artemis inquired.

"I had Green Lantern run a spot analysis. The vines do contain a trace amount of a Kobra-Venom variant."

"These have to be related. I mean, criminals cooperating events world wide? Something smells funky." Wanda murmured.

"It is now clear our enemies have now formed some sort of secret society of super villains." Batman declared. "The attack on Metropolis is only the beginning."

Robin brought up other cities, showing plants attacking in major cities across the globe. Suddenly the feed cut out, replaced with the Joker's grinning face. He began talking nonsense until he turned the camera to show an array of super villains. Wotan the sorcerer, Skull, Ultra Humanite, Count Vertigo, Poison Ivy, Black Adam, and the Joker. He declared them the Injustice League.

"We are responsible for the attacks on your cities." Count Vertigo spoke. "If you wish to save them, a ransom of ten billion American dollars is required. The delivery instructions have been sent to the United Nations. There is no time limit but the longer your governments wait-"

"The longer we get to have our...jollies." Joker's laugh cut out as the feed did, ending the transmission.

Batman talked to Aquaman on the communications device while Robin typed away on the computer. He rewound the video to identify the villains, claiming they were behind everything the team had faced.

"There's your secret society." Pietro mumbled.

"Not so secret anymore." Artemis pointed out.

"The Justice League will handle the plants. I have a different job for this team." Wally groaned. "With the plants attacking so many different locations simultaneously, there must be a central control system. Your mission is to destroy it."

"You realize what you're really asking them to do." Zatara whispered to Batman.

"They're ready."

"I trust your instincts. Robin, if you will provide a holomap."

Zatara located the Injustice League and the team was off, running to the bioship.

Bayou Bartholomew

October 01, 18:52 CDT

The ship flew low over the bayou as the team prepped for the mission ahead of them. Kid Flash ate a banana, tossing a granola bar to Quicksilver. Miss Martian flew in silence while Robin counted his shuriken. Artemis and Superboy stared out the window.

Scarlet Witch looked at Aqualad. "What's in the duffel bag?"

He pat it with a smirk. "Plan B."

Miss Martian suddenly grunted, holding her head. Everyone asked if she was alright. "Yeah, dizzy." A conversation about airsickness came up just before the team was shot out of the sky, crash landing into the water below. Vines wrapped around the ship, pulling it under. Black Adam ripped a hole in the top of the ship and Miss Martian screamed. "Ah! He's hurting her."

Scarlet Witch blasted him away with a psionic bolt. "M'gann! Open a hatch!"

Miss Martian did just that, everyone putting breathing apparatuses in their mouths. They began to swim through the water, quickly making it to land. They watched as the bioship was taken down by the plants, Miss Martian saying she was in shock.

Everyone screamed when pressure hit their heads, falling to the ground. Kid Flash looked up. "Vertigo."

"Count Vertigo to you, peasant."

Superboy leapt at Black Adam only to be punched down. Aqualad grabbed some water with his water bearers and shot it at Count Vertigo, freeing the team. He commanded Robin and Miss Martian to fulfill the mission while the rest of the team kept the Injustice League busy.

Count Vertigo hit them with another blast of vertigo as Superboy went toe to toe with Black Adam. They all fell to the ground, knocked out due to the strain put on their brains.

When they woke back up they were flying through the air in a cage.

"They awaken."

"The cage is impenetrable. Even the Superboy has no chance of escaping." Aqualad tried to use his Atlantean sorcery but to no avail. "Please, Atlantean, do not pretend you are in my league."

Wanda, want to give it a shot?

I can try. No promises though.

Her eyes glowed brightly as she summoned the energy and strength needed to fight back against a sorcerer as strong as Wotan. She grit her teeth, digging her nails into her thighs as she felt a headache come on.

"What is happ-"

The cage burst and the team was free falling. Scarlet Witch encased her friends in her mist before lowering them to the ground gently, where Ultra Humanite was waiting with a machine gun. Superboy glared. "I hate monkeys."

Poison Ivy emerged from the woods. Artemis and Aqualad instinctively reached for their weapons. "Ugh, I feel naked. And not in a fun way."

Artemis and Aqulad took on Poison Ivy as Quicksilver and Kid Flash ran at Count Vertigo. Kid Flash got slapped aside by Black Adam and Quicksilver got one punch in before he too was hit aside.

Artemis got hit by a plant, Poison Ivy turning to see her plant lit up by explosive shuriken. "My baby!"

It exploded, Robin and Miss Martian emerging from the smoke. "Timber."

Joker and Skull emerged, attacking the two.

"Kill them. Kill them all!"

The team started to get beat on, Wotan hitting them all with lightning. Aqualad turned to Miss Martian, whispering to her. "Plan B."

She called the bioship over and opened a hatch, the duffel bag falling out. Aqualad pulled out the Helmet of Fate. Kid Flash yelled at him not to do it but he was punched into a tree, breaking his arm. Aqualad put on the helmet, jumping into battle against Wotan.

The Joker went after Robin as Miss Martian dodged Ivy's plants. Vertigo shot her with a blast of his powers, Quicksilver speeding by to steal some of his cape. Artemis kicked Vertigo in the face, knocking him into Ivy. Quicksilver sped over to Kid Flash, tying his arm into a sling and telling him to hold still.

Ultra Humanite punched the tree almost hitting the two of them.

"Surrender! You cannot defeat a Lord of Order!"

"I can and I will!" Wotan yelled before being hit by a surprise blast from Zatara as the Justice League showed up. They helped save the team's lives, rounding the Injustice League up.

"Its over."

"There will be another day." Count Vertigo promised.

"Another day? Another day?! There won't be another day! Not for any of us!" Joker's hands lit up as he still wore the control gloves. Plants rose up, bursting their spores as noxious clouds of gas filled the air.

"Joker Venom spores, don't breathe!" Batman yelled, punching Joker in the face and knocking him out.

Scarlet Witch acted on instinct, throwing her hands towards the Joker Venom. She encased it in her mist, much like she did the Fog all those months ago. Sweat began to drip down her brow as she held the Venom in her mist, breaking it down molecule by molecule until it was harmless before releasing it.

Aqualad flew down, landing in front of everyone. Kid Flash turned to Miss Martian, fury on his face. "What were you thinking?! Nabu is never going to let him take that helmet off!" Aqualad took the helmet off. "Nabu let you go?!"

"He almost did not, but your friend Kent was most helpful. He says hello." Batman told the team that their performance was satisfactory, dismissing them to head home and the team went back to the bioship. Kaldur pulled Wanda aside. "When I was inside the Helmet, I could...sense a great deal of chaos around you. If you ever want to ta-"

"Thank you, Kaldur, but I am alright. This mission was just very...strenuous." Wanda smiled tightly.

He watched her go back to her seat, eyes narrowing slightly in disbelief. "If you say so."
