Just A Normal Day...Except for the Crazy Blonde
Third POV
Aru Shah is just your typical seventeen-year-old - she goes to high school, is obsessed with Swedish Fish, and fights demons from the Otherworlds with her soul sisters and reincarnated wife-slash-boyfriend.
Sophie Foster is just your typical sixteen-year-old - she has a close-knit group of best friends, is dating the blonde of her dreams, and is the experiment of a group of rebels with cool powers and is constantly almost dying.
Two different people, from two different worlds.
All of that is about to change.
Sophie's POV
"You've got to be kidding me," Sophie told Oralie. "The Council wants me to go to Atlanta? Why?" Oralie tugged on one of her eyelashes, and Sophie frowned. The nervous habit was one of few similarities that her and her biological mother shared, and she wasn't happy about it.
"Sophie, after your human parents were relocated for the second time, they were placed in Atlanta, Georgia," Oralie explained. "The Council has had a few Regents and Emissaries checking on them from time to time, but for the last few weeks, the house has been dark. No - don't be worried!" she added after Sophie reached for her eyes and tore out several eyelashes. "We just want you to check up on them, after all, you know the human world better than any of us."
Yeah, because of you, Sophie thought bitterly.
"Fine," she said. "I'll do it."
Aru's POV
"Shah, if you eat any more Swedish Fish, you're going to be sick," Aiden told Aru, snatching the huge tin of the bright red gummy fish from her hands. Aru growled at him and snatched it back. "Fine, I'm not one to deal with a hangry Aru - but I'd also not want to deal with a barfing Aru either."
"Wifey, Swedish Fish is not just a food - it's a way of life. You ought to know that, you've been dating me for two months." She offered him a Swedish Fish. "Want one?"
"Sure, why not." Aru made airplane noises. Aiden opened his mouth. At the last second, Aru flew the Swedish Fish into her own instead. "Shah!"
Aru laughed evilly. He was way too gullible.
The crowds on the sidewalk were getting thicker. However, Aru was easily parting a path for the couple - all she had to do was smile at the pedestrians, and they cleared away, grossed out by her red-stained teeth.
However, one blonde walker wasn't looking where she was going and knocked into Aru's shoulder, hard enough for her to drop the tin of Swedish Fish. "Gah!" Aru yelled. The blonde looked up. Her brown eyes widened.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" she said. Aru looked at the insanely pretty girl and she frowned.
"Aw, that was a perfectly good tin of Swedish Fish," she sighed remorsefully. Aiden put a hand on Aru's shoulder. The crowd was pushing and pulling at them.
"C'mon Shah, let's go." Ugh, that was really awful of her, Aru thought, then chided herself. No, she seems really sweet. The girl blushed, almost like she could hear what Aru was thinking. "Shah."
"Bye," Aru said, and waved. Astonished, the girl waved back. The two went their separate ways, thinking they would never meet again.
Third POV
Sophie continued on to her human family's house, and Aru went back to her mom's museum with Aiden. Little did they know that they would eventually meet again - and for a much bigger reason than a dropped tin of Swedish Fish. (Although Aru would probably disagree.)
