Chapter 7 - The Forest of Magic
...
It seemed like a normal forest. The bare trees and grass were overlaid with the pure white snow. I took a deep breath, even the atmosphere smelled like nature. Why was it called the 'Forest of Magic'?
"Hm. It's snowing." Raven commented, pointing at the sky with his human index finger.
I looked up, he was right. "Wow... Maybe we could take a break later to play!" I smiled.
"In that attire of yours?" he asked. "Your shoulders and part of your arms are devoid of clothing."
"Well, it's okay, I won't catch a cold or anything."
Before I knew it, Raven took off his long coat and put it on me.
A small, pink blush formed on my cheeks. "R-Raven? You don't have to, you'll catch a cold yourself if you don't put on your jacket."
"It's fine. I still have this." he pointed to his torso, he was wearing a black, long-sleeved shirt.
Seeing that it was no use in arguing, I slipped my arms into his jacket. It felt warm, I had to admit, and it had Raven's fragrance. I blushed a bit more from thinking about him. What was I doing?
"Let's continue." he calmly said, and started walking.
I followed after him, he was truly a kindhearted person.
...
While we were strolling down the path, a group of knights wearing dark, heavy, metallic battle-suits armed with a variety of weapons ambushed us.
"Surrender, intruders! If you wish to proceed on, you must go through us!" one of them had called out.
I glanced at Raven, and he gave me a nod.
"Airelinna - Slyph!" I shouted, summoning the spirit of the Forest: 'The Flaring Fairy'. Together, we created a circular aura, buffing me and Raven, enhancing our speed.
I ran up to them speedily, as my feet were illuminated bright/neon green. "Nature's Force!"
Then, I jumped into the air above the knights, as they pointed their weapons at me. "Sharp Fall!" I sharply descended, causing a shockwave upon stomping them, stunning the enemies temporarily.
Raven used this opportunity to leap, preforming a snatch and slash attack with his blade that blasted the knights into the air. "Wolf Fang!"
Before the knights landed on the ground, I caught them into my combination of kicks, ending with launching them back into a tree. They seemed to be hurt badly from us, but it had to be done.
We started walking away, when suddenly, one of them had thrown a lance into Raven's chest before falling unconscious permanently.
"Raven!" I shouted.
He fell onto his knees, holding his abdomen. He slowly removed the harpoon, wincing in pain while a pool of blood splattered onto the ground in front of him. He started to cough.
"Airelinna - Nymph!" I yelled, summoning the Flaring Fairy to create a circular aura around Raven, as it slowly started to heal is wounds.
After a few minutes of casting the spell, his stomach was cured, as if nothing had happened.
"Thank you, Rena." he said.
"No problem. I'm glad that you're back in good health." I smiled.
He stood up, and started walking along the pathway again. "Off we go."
I trailed along beside him.
