Chapter 19 - Doublet Finale (Ara)
[Ara's Point of View]
...
I felt weak; senseless. I wasn't able to do much else, as if the life inside me was simply sucked out. However, I couldn't let him achieve victory. I had to save Add. Of course, that was an almost impossible quest, due to the circumstances.
"Nnh..."
I heard a faint voice in the background. It was Glave's insane laughter.
I had to win. I just had to. Using the last bit of energy I had left, I aborted to my last resort; Resurrection. I could feel my "health" being replenished.
Immediately, I took hold of my spear, and sprang up to my feet. Glave's back was facing toward me, so there was no way he could've seen my sneak attack coming. My graceful movement would lead to his defeat... or so that was what I thought.
Right before I could manage to hit him, he turned around with that psychotic, pale face of his.
"Kekeke... kyahahahahahaha! Paranoia!"
A large amount of pinkish-purple energy was gathered before me. Everything flashed within my very eyes: massive explosions filled the vicinity, causing more damage than ever before. How was he able to generate this much, given his physical state? I suppose I was never going to find out, because indeed, this marked my end. Even Resurrection was futile. All my efforts were wasted.
Blasted into a wide, thick pillar, I fell onto my knees. Tears rolled down my cheeks endlessly, a stream of water, you could say. I held my stomach in pain, but I smiled nevertheless. Still remaining misty-eyed, the tears dripped and dropped onto the floor, which made almost no difference except a small, tiny stain that would soon vanish. I failed. This was the experience of pure defeat, I suppose. I wasn't going to last a lot longer.
The beam of light reappeared. Luto had reverted us back to our original appearances. However, Glave had short, lavender hair, and a full-body suit that was a shade of dark, dark purple. A gem stood idly attached to his chest, it wasn't too dull, but it wasn't shining, either. Perhaps this was his "true" form?
"Kekeke..." he glanced at me. His expression soon altered from psychopathic to normal.
"C-Congratulations." I stuttered quietly, attempting to hold back my tears. There was no way that I'd let him see me cry, that jerk. My condition grew worse and worse, just like Add.
He simply stared, without a response. I wailed even more. My body was suffering, and I lacked the power to do anything.
"Tch. I apologize. But, I value my Ara the same you value your Add. Surely, that is enough for you to comprehend?"
I gave him a small nod, forcing a laugh. "It had to be done. H-How cold..."
Glave approached me, kneeling down and wiping the tears from my face. He seemed serious, and his poker face merely proved it.
The tone in his speech was almost soft and gentle for once. "Unfortunate, isn't it?"
I nodded once again, then collapsed to the side. With my last breath, I could only whisper.
"Sorry, Add."
