Chapter 10 | A Favour Owed

Elliza

Elliza Arowen smiled viciously. Her head tilted to the side as if to mock the prince before her.

Her blue eyes came alive with challenge as she spoke "You will win no throne with an attitude like that prince"

Terrwyn's jaw clenched as he balled his hands into fists. A gesture that showed how weak a mind the boy had, quick to anger was never a good quality when playing games that required a gamblers face.

"I am no fool, I know my worth" Elliza continued mockingly, her smirk never leaving her face as she continued "Your brother is the crown prince, he has the backing of the majority of your father's court, he is also favoured by your father and all you've garnered is the support of a pirate captain, a mercenary shifter, a witch clan of assassins and noblemen's son"

The group had moved, had taken seats across from Elliza as if her speech hadn't rattled them however it has as they knew it to be the truth.

They had nothing.

"And whatever could you provide me that would make you of any worth?" Terrwyn questioned coldly. A facade slipping into place, to deceive who attended the meeting of his own weakness.

"Oh, you don't think me of any worth?" Elliza asked amused, her head tilting to the side.

"I believe the crown you stole is of worth, however I don't have any use for a thief" he spoke, his voice steady.

It irked Elliza.

"That's too bad" Elliza spoke as if she were speaking with a child "as I've already sold the thing" her smile was one of being smug.

Terrwyn froze as did his allies as they realized what she had done. The crown had been forged by the first king of Seaha, it had been a rumoured key, key to wealth like no other.

However Elliza knew better, knew better than to believe the king had hidden gold so clever no one had found it centuries later. No, what the kind had kept locked away was far more vicious, and none knew except a white haired girl and the head of the rebellion.

Elliza leaned forward laughter in her eyes "I guess I have no worth then, right?"

With that Elliza stood "well, that was an utter waste if time, let's not do it again shall we!" She spoke making her was toward the door.

She knew she wouldn't get far, for it hadn't been the crown the prince had been interested in but rather the resources a queen of thieves would have.

Terrwyn needed a connection to the underworld overlords. Elliza was no fool, had realized the bastard Prince had lacked men on his side. And while his brother collected the noblemen and their many assets Terrwyn's plan had been to raise an opposing force, a force made of assassins and thieves, of commoners and pirates.

He was planning for a civil war while his brother was certain of victory, Terrwyn most likely had planned a surprise attack.

He would most likely strike days before the crowning, so he can eliminate a bigger majority of his opposition with very little blue backs.

Then he would wage war, a war he would likely then win. However it was still uncertain if he could gather so many to arms.

It was why hew would need the leaders of the underworld, he would offer them noble status in return they would offer him help.

How predictable.

Exposing your back to those who would gladly stab you in it, in order to stand against those who threaten your standing.

It would have done him better to make the alliance with another country, to offer trade in turn for support.

Or marry a princess in return for men.

However Elliza was open to the foolishness, as she had much to gain by using it to her advantage.

She smirked as she was about to make her way up the stairs only to be stopped by a voice calling out to her.

Elliza Arowen turned, her fiendish grin giving away how much they had played into her hands.

Terrwyn sat there his face contorted in disgust as he said "I have use of your skills"

"Oh" Elliza tilted her head to the side, "and do tell ,what is in it for me, bastard Prince Terrwyn" Elliza used the Prince's title, as if to remind the boy that what he could give her was limited.

She was warning against using idle promises of power to garner favour.

The prince however sat still, as he knew he had nothing to give.

"There is one thing I want..." Elliza tempted the desperate man.

She would use the advantage given to her.

"... What is it?" Terrwyn hesitated.

"A favour, for later" a devil's boon is what she had offered.to which the prince nodded, and Elliza was more than satisfied with the outcome as she once more turned around and walked away.

She would make him sign a contract later.

For now she would wait for her Twins to come home.

Hey,

It's been a while (*cough* months *cough*), but here is an update.

I'm honestly not sure about this update but... I've redone it twice so if I still don't like it I can always come back around to it.

What did you guys think?

Until next time,
Stay safe ❤️
