Again, this is one that some people may know. 

In my original "Arendelle" chapter, I had a mermaid at the end on the rock. I'd intended to bring Ariel's family into my story. 

BUT!

I also put out a thingy for people to see if they could guess who Ellie's dad would be. When SpringStar186 won, I told her I'd tag her and that she could come up with a new character. So she told me that Moana wasn't in any of the Descendants stuff, and she wanted one of her kids in. So, I went and looked up Polynesian names that started with "M" and I listed off names I liked as I found them. "Mahina" could have easily been "Malana" or "Maylea". 

(As I am typing this, my mouth hurst so mucch..... I HATE BRACES)

Anyway, Kalia came after Mahina. Kalia was basically me having fun with more Hawaiian/Polynesian names. I saw the name Kalia and I just couldn't bear to leave it in the dusty website, so I pulled it out!
