Chapter 10
We can reunite the pair.
Xiong went on to explain that if we found the Elixir of Immortality, and somehow sent it to Chang'e, she could float to the Heavens and reunite with Hou Yi.
I fiddled with the jade necklace hanging loosely around my neck. "I...I don't know what to do."
"You're a direct descendant of Hou Yi, you must help me," Xiong begged.
"Is that why Nǜshì Lian paired me up with you?" I pictured the saddened looks of my parents once they found out that Xiong was some supernatural ghost traveller. And the obvious fact that he wasn't my actual match, he just needed my help. "Xiong, I don't know how to help you."
"I was hired by Chang'e herself." Xiong's reply surprised me. "I've been communicating with her, the goddess is lonely, Xiran. Do you want to know why she chose me of all people? I'm the son of Zhong Ku...I have certain abilities that should be able to aid you."
"Zhong Kui?" I couldn't believe it, Zhong Kui was the king of ghosts and the queller of demons. He was a powerful man and no wonder why Xiong Lee had such a strong aura when I first met him. "What abilities?"
"I can teleport others and myself, I can raise the dead for a few minutes, and I can summon good and bad demons," Xiong said, unfazed, as if it wasn't strange for some teenage boy to have supernatural powers.
"This is a lot to think about," I mumbled in English. "Wait, you can teleport?"
"That's why I left the Golden Alley so quickly."
That makes sense now. "Can you teleport me somewhere?"
"Of course," Xiong nodded. "Where to?"
"Do you know where the Soontornvats live?"
