Hwang Jinhye: Hello, is this on? Sooyoung-ah, is it on?
Jo Sooyoung: Yes, do you see the comments?
HI CHLOE
how r u chloe?
Jinhye: Oh! I see them. Hi everyone! Glad you could join.
hiiiiii omg shes talking to us
Jinhye: I'm excited for your questions. But I have one first, did everyone had a good day?
A GR8 DAY CUZ OF U
yes did you
not really....
Jinhye: (smiles) I hope your day gets better.
it just did
can we start asking questions now?
Jinhye: (laughs) yes, go ahead
do you have a boyfriend?
why did you quit music?
What are Elite's goals as a company?
Jinhye: Well, it's difficult to put into words but I'll try. While yes, every business's goal is to turn a profit as, Changwoo, our head of finances would tell you.
Sooyoung: It is surprising that you two get along so well.
Jinhye: Really?
Sooyoung: Yeah, he's all numbers. You're all about the art.
Jinhye: That's why he excels at his job. But back to the question. I want Elite to be a place a creativity, as this is a creative industry. I don't see Elite just as a company that produces music and debuts idols, but a place where trainees learn and are encouraged to try build themselves in the music industry.
What do you actively look for in your artists?
Jinhye: First the given, talent. Whether it's someone who has honed it or someone who needs guidance to get there. Second is the willingness to work hard and take time to prepare for debut. If you aren't willing to put in the effort then you don't deserve to debut.
Wow, that's harsh
What attracted you so signing Kangdae?
Jinhye: That's easy. His passion. He loves music and has worked hard to get where he is. That stood out to me. Plus, he's resourceful. (laughs) How he found out about Elite months before the public, I'll never know.
Sooyoung: Bora wasn't exactly quiet when you asked her become the company's modeling instuctor.
Jinhye: That was after Kyung-gu got the email from Kangdae. (laughs)
wait... Kangdae joined before Elite was even a thing?????
What made you want to start your own company?
lolol
Jinhye: I am so thankful to my mentors who helped me get to where I am. I wanted to be able to do the same. Not only do I run the company, I am also a vocal trainer. I like the idea of helping the next generation of idols.
That's so sweet.
Man, you must be really busy
How much creative freedom do artists get?
Jinhye: As much as they want.
Jinhye unnie....
Jinhye: Ah! Dahee's watching
Sooyoung: Probably to make sure you don't say something you're not suppose to, and she's not the only one.
Jinhye: Really!? Well maybe I should elaborate on my answer. I want artists to put in their thoughts and ideas. Some artists may not want to write or produce their songs or they may feel like they aren't very good. If they want to work solely on their music, I will let them. Within reason. Given the industry we have to be careful. K-pop has standards that we still have to follow. Also, I have producers, songwriters, and choreographers that will always assist. We would like them to keep their jobs.
What is something your company will not tolerate from an artist?
Jinhye: Disrespect. Especially to mentors and other staff.
What plans do you have for the trainees?
Jinhye: Nothing set in stone yet. (winks)
Will the trainees be allowed to work other projects such as solos, features, etc?
Jinhye: We have talked on the idea.
How would you describe each trainee in three words or less?
Jinhye: Umm.... Well, for Sumi I'd say detailed oriented. Mia seems free-spirited and lively. Maeja is adventurous. For Boo, snarky and kindhearted. Niko is clam and focused. Aspen is electrifying to be around. Jinu is positive and polite. Lucy is motherly yet brash. Younghyun is distant but attentive. I'd say Sunhee is quiet and brave. Kazumi is just sunshine in human form. Finally, Jinhyuk is a little oblivious and a big dreamer.
What are dynamics like in the trainee dorms?
Jinhye: I don't know, but if their classes have anything to say about it then they're like children in school.
Will artists be allowed to date?
Jinhye: Yes, however for our younger trainees, they will be chaperoned for safety. I don't see issue with dating. I know many companies do, but I think dating helps you find our more about yourself.
Totally! idols should be able to date like everyone else!
Do you truly have no regrets leaving Bright Ent as your initial response indicated?
Have you've ever dated anyone? Are you dating someone right now?
Jinhye: Regrets? No. But, my reason for leaving wasn't exactly what I had said it was 3 years ago. It was multiple factors caused by myself and Bright. I stand by my statement saying that I have no ill feeling towards Bright. I can't bring myself to have them.
Do you ever plan to have a comeback yourself?
pls dn't leave us in the dark
WHAT HAPPENED!? DID THEY HURT YOU!?
Jinhye: I want Elite to get a strong start with our trainees first. Perhaps then I may return with more music.
Please come back. I love your music!!!!!!
What do you have to say about Seo Haewon's SLANDER on Kangdae?
^^ yeah I heard she works for Elite
^^^^ wait what!?
Jinhye: I had a feeling that would come up. Yes, I can confirm that Seo Haewon is, in fact, a dance instructor at Elite Records.
OMG its true
fire her!!!!!
why did you hire that B*TCH anyway???
Jinhye: When the issue of her comment on Kangdae Instagram post came up, Jo Sooyoung, our head of social media brought it to my attention immediately. (Sooyoung waves) I called for both of them. Now Ms. Seo explained to me that her comment wasn't meant to be malicious. It was just worded incorrectly. Kangdae has told me that he understood what Ms. Seo had meant. I know that won't satisfy everyone but that is the end of the situation.
if kangdae is ok then i guess i am
still should be fired
Question: Do you have any concerns over your current artist?
Jinhye: I don't think I know what you mean by concerns.... I'm always concerned about the health of our artists and trainees. As well as potential dangers some fans can be. But that is for everyone not just Kangdae.
What is Elite doing to ensure the trainees safety and how do you handle situations regarding mental health?
Jinhye: Well Elite has bodyguards for events. They, our managers and other staff have passed strict guidelines to ensure safety of trainees, artists, and themselves. In regards to mental health, while we don't have anyone on staff to work in that area, we have asked staff to be aware of anything and notify someone who can help. We do keep emergency contacts especially for our younger and foreign trainees. I do hope I have made it clear to the trainees and artists that it's okay to get help. Each situation is different and I know we cannot fully prepare for everything but I will certainly try.
That sounds good. I'm glad you're caring about this.
Jinhye: Well that all the time I have. I had fun. I'll see you all later.
No! don't leave! I have to know ARE YOU DATING ANYONE!?
Jinhye: Bye! (waves)
