(1) She declines help
It was here again, I woke up to another typical Sunday.
My fam and did the same normal things we always do every Sunday. We went to church together, came back, and left each other to go about our various businesses.
My afternoon wasn't any better, I slept through the whole thing, funny right? Nah, I know it isn't.
But then came my evening, when the only interesting thing that ever happens in my room started. A video chat on my laptop with my two besties, Fabiola and Paisley.
"Elisa-Marie, what in the fuck are you talking about?! I'm absolutely certain that it was you Lucas was looking at in the cafeteria last Friday!" Fabiola exclaimed with a sheepish laugh.
"Fab, you're being totally insane right now. No way could a guy like Lucas Haynsworth ever look at a girl like me!... I mean, look at me!" I gestured my hands up and down my body.
"Elisa-Marie, don't talk like that, cause you can never be too sure!" Paisley assured me.
Paisley had always been the kind-hearted one amongst the three of us. But sometimes that led to the people at school trying to take advantage of her kindness. Well, not until Fabiola stepped in.
Fabiola was more of the fierce fighter, always ready to stand up for her friends no matter the situation.
While me, I was more of the invisible book worm, with the best grades in class.
And that was us, three best friends with three different personalities.
I took a glance at my wristwatch, "Oh my God! Guys, I really need to get back to filling out my college application."
"College! Yes! You're so right Elisa-Marie!" Fabiola exclaimed with a smile.
"Have you chosen out where you're going yet?" Paisley asked me.
"Yeah, I decided that I'm going to Brown."
"Oh my God! Elisa-Marie! Brown University?! I'm so proud of you!"
"Yeah! Me too! But I'm gonna miss you both though, I'm going to N.Y.U."
"OMG! Fab! That's amazing!" I shouted excitedly.
"Thanks, and what about you Paisley? Where are you going?"
"Well, mom finally agreed on Yale."
"Wow! Pais! That's insane! We're totally gonna miss you!"
"Aww, I'm gonna miss you guys too...but you know we haven't separated yet...right?"
I let out a little giggle, "Yeah, Paisley's right. So let's make the most out of our remaining time together."
"Of course, we should totally do that." Fabiola agreed.
I looked at my wristwatch again. God! Was it getting late, "Look girls, I really gotta go, but we'll see tomorrow at school."
"Of course Elisa-Marie."
"Yeah, we'll see tomorrow...bye!"
"Bye," I finally said and ended the video chat with the smile on my face still intact.
I opened up the school application on my laptop and stared at it for a while, "I'm actually going to brown, this is totally the right decision."
I readied my fingers on my keyboard, it felt so good to get started on this. Until...
"Elisa-Marie! Get your rude ass down here! Your cousin is in need of a warm welcome from everyone!" I hear my mom shout from downstairs.
"Oh no, please don't be Sarah, please don't be Sarah," I said to myself as I hurriedly got off my bed and followed the commands of my mom's loud voice.
✌🖕🤘
And it was Sarah.
"Oh my God! Elimar!" My obnoxious cousin exclaimed and strapped me into a hug.
Elimar, she was the only one who still called me by that stupid, taunting nickname. It was one of the ways she always purposely used to get to me, cause I didn't like it, and she was well aware of that.
Sarah was that sort of person who always felt so much better than everyone, like a queen, even to me.
God! Did I hate her stupid attitude, and the worst part was that sometimes, she wouldn't even be able to realize when she does it, like it was part of her.
Stupid Sarah.
"Sarah, you came," I said lifelessly, "And you're with your luggage," I looked down and noticed.
"Yeah! I came for the month!" She replied happily and released me from her grasp.
"Month?! Wow!" I tried my best to be as enthusiastic as I could with my words.
"Yes, cupcake, Stella is going to be staying with us for the month, you know how long it has been since she came around...ever since she finished up with college, she's been too occupied, but now she's finally made out the time to be with us," dad said with a smile.
"Bryson, I hope you cleaned out the guest room for Stella like I said you should," mom asked.
Bryson was my big brother, who was also very obnoxious. He was a jock back when he was in high school, always sneaking various hot chicks from school into the house every night.
I swear I still have all the nasty moans and pillow talks I always hear anytime I pass his room at night stuck in my head.
But then, he always made me sibling-swear never to mention anything about it to mom and dad. And we took our sibling-swears very seriously, so I had to stay quiet.
Bryson was really cool back in his high school days, even up till now he's done with college, he still has that idiotic charm, God! I couldn't wait for him to move out or something.
Mom said that even if her children attended a boarding school, she would only agree for any of them to move out permanently after they finished college, cause according to her, she wants to watch every single fucking moment of her babies' growing up.
"Yeah mom, I did," he replied with a forced smirk.
"Great! Now put those strong arms to of yours to further use and carry up her luggage!"
"Oh my God," I heard him whisper under his breath, not really sure mom heard it though.
"What was that? Bryson?" She asked with a warning look.
Ok, I guess she did hear it.
I giggle, very eager to hear Bryson's response.
"Nothing mom!" His unwillingness was clear as he walked over to the bags and began carrying them.
I turned back to Sarah after he had begun mounting the steps, "Why's everyone now calling you Stella?" I asked, not really eager to know though.
"Cause I changed my name legally, duh, Sarah was too boring and sounded so stone-aged like, keep up Elimar!" She grabbed my hand and headed for the stirs, "Come! Show me to your room!"
✌🖕🤘
"OMG!" Stella screamed the moment she walked into my room.
"What?!" I exclaimed back at her.
She shut the door behind her, "Why is your room like awfully irritating to me?!" She furrowed her brows as she scanned everywhere.
"Here we go again," I collapsed on my bed not really minding her misbehaviour.
"Just look at the dull colouring! And the tacky decorations! God!" She flopped down on my bed beside me after all her lousy complaining.
"You done yet?" I asked with my eyes firmly fixed on my laptop screen.
"No," she replied and stared at me like she was looking for something else to complain about, "Uhh...what are you doing?" She asked me.
"None of your business," I answered straightforwardly.
She chuckles mockingly before speaking again, "No, you are attending to some shit on that laptop while I'm in your presence, so yeah, it is my God damn business. Gimme that!" She grabbed my laptop from me.
"Hey! Sarah give me back my laptop!"
"It's Stella now! And no! Let me see what must be so much more important than my unique presence!... A college application?!"
She let go of the laptop and I pulled it back to me, "Yeah!... So?!"
"Oh my God! Elimar! You absolutely cannot go to college! Not like this!"
I looked at her confused, "Like what? Through an application?... Like every other normal person does?"
"That's not what I meant!" She shifted closer to where I was and began pinching my face with her long, fixed nails.
"Aww! What are you doing to my face?!"
"Eww Elimar! Your make up is too light!... Even up till now! And you are in your final year of high school!" She tugged at my blouse with her other hand, "Your clothes are still very tacky!" And then she finally let go, leaving me in relief and little unnoticeable tears in t eyes from all her pinching.
"And I'm pretty sure that you're still a virgin."
"What?! How would you even know?! Did you take a little trip into my hole?!" I exclaimed, feeling sort of insecure, cause she was sort of right, I was still a virgin.
"Elmira, I know these things. Now don't fill out that application until we get your cherry popped!"
"What?! No way! I'm filling out this application! College first! Sex can wait!"
She closed up my laptop suddenly, "No! College can wait! Trust me Elisa-Marie, if you go to college a virgin, everyone there will screw you over!"
"What?! How do you even know that?! And how would they even know?!"
"It shows! Elimar it shows! People see that you are a virgin in many ways! Just let me help you! Cause everything about you right now needs as much help as it can get!" She crossed her arms at me, looking as annoying as always.
And without even noticing it, my next words shot out of my mouth, "Ok, now it's time for you to get something...which is out!" I rose up and pulled her up from the bed.
"Hey!" She exclaimed as I pulled her out of my room, "Elimar, you're going to come running back!"
"Bye Stella!" I finally said as I slammed the door in her face and got back to my laptop. But for some reason, I wasn't quite in the mood to fill out the form anymore.
