Part Five
It's the next morning and the houseguests hear a loud bang coming from outside their rooms.
They all wake up and look around the room at the other confused faces around them.
Another bang startles the houseguests, forcing braver ones out of bed to go investigate.
One by one, they begin to get out of bed and leave the safety of their rooms by venturing out in to the hallway to see where the noises are coming from.
They open their bedroom doors and expect to see something terrifying but see nothing even remotely suspicious out in the hall.
They all gather in the hallway, yawning and rubbing their eyes. Each one of them is tired and wishes they could go home and sleep in their own beds.
The banging stops abruptly.
As the houseguests begin to wake up and their brains begin to function properly, they start counting those around them, hoping they are all there and that there not not another dead body around.
Panic sets in as a few of the houseguests realize that only ten of them are present.
"Not again!" Brooke shouts and pulls at her hair in frustration.
Jamie trudges out of her room, dreading the fact that she was forced to get out of bed.
"What's with all the banging?" She asks, rubbing her head.
Everyone sighs with relief because now all eleven of them are here. No one else has been killed.
Everyone ventures downstairs in search of some food. They haven't eaten since well before they entered this house and are starving to say the least.
Some grab a bowl of cereal, some grab eggs to scramble, some settle for a glass of milk before deciding on a meal.
They disperse into pairs and small groups to keep safe and all carry on normal conversations as if no one was murdered yesterday and this is just a normal game show.
Ryan and Macie each snack on an apple at the kitchen table and strike up a conversation.
"I had a wife. She died a year ago actually. She was my high school sweetheart." Ryan answers Macie's question.
"Oh I'm so sorry." Macie replies, not knowing that bringing up his family would be so tragic. "What happened?" She dares to ask.
"She lost our baby during labor and she fell into a depression. And uh, two weeks later she threw herself off of a bridge." Ryan describes the manner in which his beloved wife died.
"Oh my god!" Macie exclaims, shoved at how that story took a turn she did not expect. "That is terrible. I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine what you are going through."
"It's been a year now and I'm learning to live without her in my life. That's actually why I'm here. She always loved shows like this." Ryan tries to smile through the flashes of her popping up in his mind. He loved her so much. He still loves her so much.
"That is so sweet of you to honor her memory like that." Macie smiles, knowing that this would make his wife happy if she could see that he was stepping out of his comfort zone to make her happy, even if it meant he might get hurt in the process.
A loud bell rings, echoing through the entire house.
"What is that?" Ryan asks as if Macie has any more of an idea than he does.
"I hope to God it isn't another body." Macie says in a hushed voice as she rises out of her seat.
"House guests," A woman's voice speaks. "Please gather in the kitchen." She instructs them.
The terrified people do as she says while also trying to locate the source of the voice.
They whisper among each other and all stop to watch as a wall rises to reveal a second wall, this one including a door that was hidden by the first wall.
They rush to the door as soon as it is in sight.
They believe this is their chance to break free of this hell.
The door opens automatically, swinging out into the new environment.
They run out into what they believe is freedom. They couldn't be more wrong.
"What is this?!" Paul asks the question everyone else is thinking.
"It's our first real competition." Marcus shares his thoughts.
AN: what do you think the competition will be like???
