Part Eight
The houseguests have still not been able to open the coffin in the middle of the room. Jamie's air supply has run even more thin and she has just a few minutes to live.
Everyone involved has lost hope of ever opening this casket, including Jamie. She knows she does not have long left. The air is even more thin than it was ten minutes ago.
Marcus stares at the casket. He knows that if he does nothing, Jamie is going to die.
Her death will bring him a little bit closer to making it to the end and winning the game.
He wants to win so that he can get the money and get out of here. Letting her die will mean he only has to beat eight more people before he is the last man standing.
But unfortunately, his morals take over and he decides he has to do something drastic in order to save her.
He can't just stand there and let her die.
Marcus reaches into his belt where he has a gun tucked. He wraps his fingers around it, pausing to take a moment to think about what this is going to mean.
Once he removes the gun from his belt, everyone will know he has a gun and they will not treat him the same. They may even take the gun away from him. He doesn't want that but this has to be done. He can't keep this a secret any more.
He pulls the gun out and points it towards the casket.
This is going to be how he ends her suffering inside that coffin.
The houseguests all begin to shout at him. They are all scared of what he is going to use the gun for. They didn't even know he had a gun. They want to know how long he has hand it and if he is the killer picking them off one by one.
"Stand back." Marcus instructs the people blocking his shot at the coffin.
"What the hell are you doing man?" Paul asks, touching Marcus' shoulders.
"Stand back!" He growls at everyone in his way. He doesn't have any patience for these people today. He just wants to get this done and over with.
Brooke stands in his way when everyone else fails to protect Jamie. She steps up to be her savior if no one else will. "Don't do this." She begs Marcus as he aims the gun at the casket. She doesn't want him to hurt Jamie. She doesn't think Jamie deserves to die.
"Move or I'll shoot you." Marcus snaps at the beautiful girl. He just wants to get this done and over with already.
"I'm not moving. Everyone else here are cowards. I'm not. I'm not afraid to stand up to you-" Brooke stops her sentence as a bullet enters her stomach area. She stumbles backwards and lands on the ground. She looks down at her wound as she places her hands over it in an attempt to slow the bleeding.
He really shot her.
The room erupts in shouting. They have no idea what has happened in Marcus' brain that would make him shoot her like that.
Casey, the nurse in training, rushes to her aid. She lays Brooke down on the ground and applies pressure to her wound.
Brooke cries out in pain. She wasn't actually expecting him to shoot her. "I didn't mean to get shot." Brooke grabs Casey's arm.
"I know you didn't honey. Come on. Put your hands here. Press down hard." She instructs the bleeding girl and helps her apply pressure to her wound.
She doesn't know how she is going to save her without any equipment. She has seen surgeries before and is confident she would be able to remove the bullet and stitch her up so that she could begin to heal if only she had some supplies.
Paul lunges at Marcus in an attempt to remove the gun from him before he can hurt anyone else. Before Paul has the chance to remove the gun from his hands, Marcus shoots at the casket.
Jamie screams inside as several more bullets fire in her direction. She knows someone is shooting at her and is now confident that she is going to die in here.
Jamie squeezes her eyes shut, waiting for the fatal bullet to hit her and end this misery.
But the bullets stop shortly after. She reopens her eyes and can now miraculously see a tiny sliver of light.
The lock has been broken.
She is free.
Wilson pulls what is left of the lock off and lifts the lid to the coffin. He reaches down inside and lifts Jamie out. She clings to him as she wails into his neck, thanking him and everyone else who helped free her.
That was the most terrifying experience in her life.
She is coughing and gasping for air now that she is free. Her crying does not help with the fact that she is lightheaded from the lack of air inside there.
Wilson wastes no time getting Jamie out of the room. He wants her to take a shower or something so she can attempt to relax a bit.
On the way out, Jamie can see Brooke laying on the ground.
