New Arrivals

"Are you sure you want me there?" I check one more time. Ben had come to me and asked if I would attend the welcome with him and Audrey. We've been friends for years, but I have no idea what spurred this!

Ben gives a nervous smile. "Yes, Ellie. I want you there. You're one of the only people who might understand how they feel here."

I've heard them my whole life, but the words still prick my heart. "What is that supposed to mean?"

His face turns terrified. "No! I didn't mean---you're not---Oh, I'm an idiot." he mumbles. "I meant, people bully you a lot. I've tried telling people to stop. But you are one of the few people who could've ended up on the Isle. You might understand their, um, situation."

"That's the only reason you want me there?" I accuse.

"That, and you're one of the only people that can keep Audrey in check." Ben says with a tiny smile. I burst out laughing and he takes that to mean I've forgiven him. "So you'll come? It's in like two hours."

I nod. "I'll be there. I promise."

the he gets fidgety. "Hey, have you decided...um... About tomorrow's deadline?"

Unintentionally, my body goes cold with fear. "I'm not doing it."

He smiles for real. "I figured. Dad and Fairy Godmother aren't happy, but that's their loss. I personally think your magic is amazing. So what if Queen Elsa chose to let hers get taken away? New magic might just be what this kingdom needs."

And it's those words that convince me finally that Ben is the perfect leader for this kingdom.

A few short (and chaotic) hours later, Ben, Audrey, Fairy Godmother, the entire marching band, and I are waiting at the entrance of the school. I tug on my gloves nervously. This could go so wrong... I think to myself.

Then the limo pulls up.

The band hurriedly starts playing an annoying tune, and the limo comes to a stop, and the doors open up to reveal...

Two boys. Fighting over a blanket. One with long dark hair and a red beanie with yellow leather. Jafar's kid? And the other one, obviously Cruella De Vil's boy, with white hair that has black roots and completely red-white-and-black clothing.

"OW! Stop it, you got EVERYTHING else, why do you want whatever this is??" The white-haired boy says in a squealy voice. I gape at them.

"Cuz you want it! Give it to me!" Beanie boy growls. Two girls get out of the car in the midst of this, one that is remarkably blue, and one...

Oh...

This must be Maleficent's daughter. Purple hair, purple-pink-and-green leather, and a wicked gleam to her eye.

Blue girl does a twirl, taking Auradon in. Her face shows how happy she is to be here. She looks positively enchanted.

Fairy Godmother breaks through the band with her arms spread wide. Purple girl whispers, "Guys, guys, guys!" and steps in front of the two boys. "We have an audience," she scolds, putting her hands on her hips and smiling.

"Just...cleaning up!" Beanie boy says. "Get up." he growls at white-hair. He pulls the other off the ground.

"Leave it like you found it!" FG sings. "And by that I mean just leave it." she clarifies. Beanie boy gives a look to the driver then throws everything back in the limo. Then Beanie boy catches Audrey's eye.

"Hello, foxy! The name's... Jay." he says, moving forward. I have to hold back a laugh at Audrey's disgust.

Audrey gives a fake laugh. FG pops in front. "Welcome to Auradon prep." Jay's smile vanishes. "I'm Fairy Godmother, headmistress." She gives a small curtsy.

Purple girl perks up. "The Fairy Godmother? As in, bibbidi bobbidi boo?"

"Bibbidi bobbidi, you know it!" FG says, pleased they know her.

"Yeah, I always wondered, what if felt like for Cinderella, when you just...appeared! Out of nowhere! With that sparkly wand, and warm smile!" She claps her hands together. "And that sparkly wand..."

Wait, didn't she just say that?

"That was a long time ago. And as I always say, "Don't focus on the past, or you'll miss the future," FG makes little windows with her hands.

Ben steps forward. "It's so good to finally meet you all. I'm Ben---"

"Prince! Benjamin." Audrey breaks in. "Soon to be king!" She says squealy.

Blue girl steps forward. "You had me at Prince. My mom's a Queen, which makes me a Princess." She gives a shy grin and sinks to a curtsy.

Audrey gives a fake smile and shakes her head. "The Evil Queen has no royal status here." the grin slips off Blue girl's face. "And neither do you..." Audrey finishes.

"Audrey!" I hiss. Nobody notices, but I elbow her anyway. I give Blue girl a small grin. "You have status here, but some of us won't admit that." I tell her. She smiles.

Ben gives an awkward laugh. "This is Audrey!"

"Princess! Audrey. His girlfriend!" She pulls Ben's arm towards her. "Right, Benny-boo?"

Purple girl tilts her head to the side.

"Ben and Audrey are gonna show you all around." FG says, taking both their arms. "And I'll see you tomorrow. "The DOORS of wisdom are never shut!" Purple girl jumps as FG flings their arms apart. "But the library hours are from 8 to 11 and as you may have heard I have a little thing about curfews..." She walks off to all of our sarcastic laughs and the marching band follows her.

Ben steps forward in anticipation. "It is so, so good to finally meet you all!" Jay punches him when he gets too close and Ben backs off. He moves to shake Purple's hand and lingers a second longer than Audrey will tolerate. Then Ben moves on. "This is a momentous occasion! And one that I hope will go down...in history..." he shakes White's hand. "Is that chocolate? As a day our two peoples began to heal!"

"Or the day that you showed four peoples where the bathrooms are." Purple breaks in.

Ben laughs and moves back to her. "A little bit over the top?"

Purple smirks. "Little more than a little bit."

"Well, so much for our first impressions! Nice job, Ben." I scold. He smiles.

Audrey scowls. "Hey! You're Maleficent's daughter, aren't you? Yeah, you know what, I totally do not blame you for your mother trying to kill my parents and stuff." Purple rolls her eyes. "Oh! My mom's Aurora. Sleeping---"

"Beauty! Yeah. I've heard the name." Purple says. I roll my eyes. Lame, Audrey!

"Ya know, and I totally do not blame your grandparents for inviting everyone in the whole world!" Purple says. "But my mother. To their stupid christening."

"Water under the bridge." Audrey says.

"Totes!" Purple laughs. the both gives the worst laughs ever that fade into sighs.

Ben smiles awkwardly. I break in. "Okay! So, how 'bout a tour?" I ask. "Yeah? Ben?"

He clears his throat. "Auradon prep! Originally built over 300 years ago, and converted into a high school by my father..." Ben drolls. I drop back with Blue.

"Hi." I tell her.

She smiles. "Hi. I'm Evie! Evil Queen's daughter. Auradon is beautiful."

I nod. "It really is, even if magic is forbidden." I say bitterly. "Oh. Sorry, I'm Elicia. I go by Ellie, though."

"Who's your parents--"

Evie is interrupted by a high-pitched scream. I look back to see White jumping into Jay's arms and screaming. Ben looks back. "Carlos! it's okay! My father wanted his statue to morph from Beast to man. To remind us that anything is possible."

"Does he shed much?" Purple asks. I don't hold back my guffaw in time and she winks at me.

"Yeah, mom won't let him on the couch." Ben says with a totally poker face. He smiles then turns to keep walking. Purple turns and gives Evie a weird look just as Jay drops Carlos. We all keep walking but I hear two quick claps. I turn to see Carlos standing behind, testing the statue.

"Silly, it won't work for you." I tell him. "Come on!"

He gives a nervous grin then follows me inside. Purple's talking. "...Have alot of magic here at Auradon? Like...wands? And things like that?" She looks so hopeful.

"Yeah, it exists, of course." Ben gives me a glance. "Like Ellie here. She's one of the few people left with powers."

I raise my gloved hand. "Guilty."

"But it's pretty much retired," Ben goes on. "Most of us here are just ordinary mortals."

"Who happen to be kings and queens." Purple points out.

"That's true!" Audrey screeches. "Our royal blood goes back hundreds of years." She throws Ben's arm over her shoulder. Ben seems uncomfortable, so I look around for a distraction.

"Doug!" I yell. Ben looks up. "Doug, come down!" I say, pulling Ben with me.

"This is Doug." Ben says. "He's gonna help you with your class schedules and show you the rest of the dorms." he walks back to the four kids. Gotta figure out Purple's name. "I'll see you later, okay? And if there is anything you need, feel free to--"

"Ask Doug!" Audrey yells, frustrated. She and Mal do the laugh-then-sigh again. This could not be worse. Audrey pulls Ben away, but I want to stay with Doug.

Doug gives his trademark nerd-nervous wave. "Hey guys! I'm Dopey's son, as in Dopey, Doc, Bashful, happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, and..." He trails off when he sees Evie walking towards him. "Heigh-ho!" he breathes. I fight my smile. He's got a crush!

"Evie. Evil Queen's daughter." Evie says.

Doug shakes his head. "OK, so about your classes, I, uh, put in the requirements already. History of Woodsmen and Pirates, safety rules for the internet, and uh..." He clears his throat. "Remedial Goodness 101?" He finishes with his voice a couple octaves higher.

Purple scoffs at his shoulder. "Lemme guess." She chomps on a piece of gold foil. "New class?"

"Sorry." I tell her. "It's required, I don't know why."

She grins. "Probably because of us, y'know. Villains and all."

"Coming from somebody whose mom everybody thought was a villain, I feel you." I say.

She grins wider. "Seriously? There are some Auradonians that were almost Isle people?"

I stick my hand out. "Elicia, daughter of the Snow Queen. Elsa."

She shakes it. "Mal. Daughter of--"

"Maleficent, Queen of Evil." I say.

"Yup." She drops the gold foil on the ground and turns back to her friends. "Come on guys. Let's go find our dorms!"

They all start to walk up the nearest set of stairs, and Doug has to shake his head a couple times before he realizes they're going the wrong way. "Oh, uh, yeah your dorms are that way guys!" he points the opposite way.

They all follow Evie back down the stairs and Doug counts on his fingers as they pass by. "Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy and..." he struggles with the last one. Carlos comes up next to Doug.

"Sneezy." He supplies.

I laugh. "How'd you know that?"

Carlos shrugs. "I like to read anything I can get my hands on. Plus, those names are pretty much common knowledge no matter where you live."

"I guess." I admit. Carlos follows his friends off.

If anybody actual reads this thing, I'm sorry the last chapter was so short! I'm trying to make them longer but couldn't think of anything else to add to the last one.
