Maira The Brave---Plus A Bonus Dad!

(Picture above is Merida's kid... Just so you know.)

"Ellie! Hey! Ellie! It worked!" I hear.

I sit up fast, my head complaining with the sudden movement. "Ugh. It worked?" I ask.

Sera, Aunt Anna, Mahina, Carlos, and Kalia all nod. "It's been a few hours, but yeah." Carlos says, looking happy.

Kalia, however, looks a bit uncomfortable. "It worked... but with side effects."

"Side effects?" I ask, groaning.

Kalia nods. "Um, try and use your powers. Not the ice ones."

"Not the... you mean...?"

She and Mahina nod.

I stand up shakily and search inside myself like I normally do for my mom's powers. To my ultimate surprise, a warm, dark feeling has joined the bright cold one inside me. I try to grab at it like my icy powers, and it responds faster than normal.

Praying this works the way I want, I thrust my hand out and a spiral of black mist-like substance shoots from my palm, hitting a spot on the beach we're on and shriveling it to black dust. For a moment, everyone stares.

Then they erupt into a jumble of applause, shouts, and cheers. I notice Carlos is hugging me, which I'm sure Sera will tease him about later, and that Mahina and Kalia are talking to each other very fast.

"Hey! Guys! As happy as I am, too..." I shrug everybody off me smiling. "We still have to try to get back to Auradon, remember?"

"First Scotland!" Sera says. "I seriously think Merida can help. And Fergus."

"We will come, too." Kalia volunteers. "We can take a ship."

"How many?" Sera asks.

"Just me and my sister." Mahina says, laughing. "Nobody else wanted to come."

"Seriously?" Carlos asks.

"Yeah. They think if they leave Shrimpette alone she'll leave us alone." Kalia says. Sera snorts so badly she doubles over.

"S-sh-shrimp-p-pette??" she gasps. She slaps her knee in laughter, cackling until I kick her shin and she straightens up, fighting a grin.

Kalia and Mahina both smile. "You still need a boat, correct? Well, we can supply one." The gesture towards a huge boat, complete with a sail with the swirl on it, sitting in the ocean.

"It will take us to where you want to go." Kalia assures us. "It's safe, and the Ocean and Wind will help us!"

"Uh, you're sure about this?" Sera says, looking warily at the teal waves. I keep forgetting about her hatred of swimming.

I loop my arm through hers and smile at her. "Aw, loosen up! We'll be fine, don't worry."

"You seem pretty happy for a person who just came pretty close to drowning," Sera grumbles. But she tosses her black-and-red hair out of her face and struts towards the boat. Kalia and Mahina follow her, but Carlos pulls me back when I start too.

"Hey, are you really okay?" He asks.

"I'm fine. I promise." I say, adding a smile to try and convince him. He still looks worried, but he lets me go and follows me to the boat. Sera is grinning at me in a way that makes me glad she can't tease me in front of everyone else. Well, she probably could, but she doesn't seem like she could do it well right now, gripping the mast like a lifeline.

"You're sure you can get us to Scotland?" My Aunt asks, holding onto Ella in the center of the boat. Kalia goes to the back and sits down, grabbing the ropes.

"Very sure. " She tells us.

And so, somehow, five days later, we're finally seeing land in the distance. As it turns out, Kalia and Mahina didn't need to actually steer the boat, because wind and water kept pushing us even when they let go. But they said they prefered being ready should something happen.

"Finally." Sera grumbles, her green face(has been green since New Motinui disappeared from view) going slightly less so as we near the emerald hills.

Andy and Krissy peer towards the land. "Can we get there faster? Pleeeeease?"

Kalia leans down and trails her hand through the water. "We're fine. You can wait."

"Aaahhhhhhhhh..." Krissy groans, rubbing her face. "I'ma die if I can't play a prank soon."

"I thought you could make a prank out of anything?" Carlos asks.

"Yeah, but we used it all up." Andy says.

"One thing I will say, you'll most likely get along with Merida's brothers. They're triplets." I tell Andy and Krissy.

They perk up. "Everything's better when there's multiples!" they yell, giggling. None of the rest of us get it, but Kalia shouts out,

"Watch out!" The ship pitches a bit to avoid a few rocks until we're right up against a huge cliff. Mahina points around the cliff.

"The dock should be over there. Can you---"

"Got it!" Kalia says, gritting her teeth against the dark blue waves knocking the boat against the stone. The waves shift to something softer and push our boat away.

"Why don't they just carry us around instead of leaving you to do it?" Sera spits her red braids out of her mouth.

"Because we still have to do things ourselves, they just help sometimes." Mahina says.

"That's stupid." The words have barely left her mouth when she's drenched in water. "Agh!"

Krissy giggles up in the sail, holding a bucket over Sera's head. She high-fives her brother, who has a similar tipped bucket. I smirk and shake my head. She and her brother are hopeless.

Carlos looks ready to smile too, but then we scrape up against a dock. Three boys with wild red hair are there already, loading something onto  boat, talking fast. They look up at us as we get off our boat and Kalia ties it up.

"Who're you?" One of them asks. I can't even tell who is who! Those must be Merida's youngest brothers. Hamish, Hubert, and Harris. I think those are their names.

Kalia sweeps into a low bow that she comes up from smiling. "I'm Kalia, and this is my sister Mahina. We're from New Motunui, and this is Queen Anna of Arendelle, and Princesses Elicia, Eloise, and Krystine. And that's Prince Andy. And that's Carlos De Vil and Sera, the daughter of Ares."

One of their eyebrows jump up at Sera's name. "Daughter of Ares? Another god?"

The middle one elbows that one. "Shut it! He said not to say he was here, remember?"

"Oh, right."

"You mean Hades?" I pipe up. All three of them suddenly look guilty and won't meet our eyes.

"No." The three say at the same time.

"YES!" Andy and Krissy say. "YOU LIARS LIARS, PANTS..." They stop and see the kilts. "Eh. SKIRTS ON FIRE!"

They all grin. "Ha!" says one. The other two elbow him.

I step forward. "Hades is my dad. It's not a secret he's here."

The middle one gapes at me. "You're his daughter?"

"Uh, we better get Sis for this." mutters one.

"Merida? Yeah, probably."

"What other sister do we have?"

"What about mom?"

"Uh-uh. She'd be mad we gave his spot away."

"But---"

"Nuh-uh!"

"Excuse me!" Kalia yells. "Can we see Merida? It's important."

They all stop. "Okay." They shrug. "Follow me!" Says one. Then they start arguing over who we should follow, but they're still walking towards the castle so we follow all three of them through the gates and into the throne room, where a woman with bright red hair like the brothers is talking to what looks like a miniature version of her.

"Maira, I'm trusting you with this. I'm not sure he wants to---" Merida shuts up when she sees us. "Hamish? Hubert? Who are they?"

"Uh..." The three talk at once, saying our names, and somehow Merida understands. I notice she's still wearing her quiver even as Queen. Her daughter (I'm guessing it's her daughter) has frizzy hair like her but is choosing to wear beige shorts and a T-shirt with a green sweatshirt wrapped around her waist. Instead of a quiver and bow, she just has a dark brown satchel thrown over her shoulder.

"So, you're H's daughter?" Maira asks, strutting towards me with one hand holding her bag's strap.

"H?"

"Hades." She clarifies.

"Then yeah. I'm his daughter."

She gives me a once-over. "Thought you'd look less...white."

"Elsa's my mom."

"Ah. Yeah. Forgot 'bout that."

Merida clears her throat. "Is that why you're here, or is it because of Auradon?"

Sera nods. "Yup. Shrimpette took over."

"Shrim..." Merida shakes her head. "Nevermind. Am I right in guessing you're here to get backup?"

"Yeah." Carlos says.

Merida sighs. "All right. We'll come. But Maira... could you go get Hades?"

My stomach swoops. "Wait, right now?"

"It's been years." Maira says. "We should at least tell him you're here."

I swallow my response and Maira leaves. Carlos keeps glancing at me sidelong until I catch his eye and he stops. We sit in awkward silence for a minute until Merida speaks up.

"Hamish, could you go spread the word? Go get Mum and Dad too. Dad'll murder this wee beast if we let 'im."

The three triplets exchange evil glances before running off.

"AND NO PRANKING HIM TO COME OUT!" Merida roars as they leave. They all laugh and keep running.

Eloise coughs and Merida's focus jumps back to us. She opens her mouth to speak when the door booms open and Maira and a man come in. He has dark brown hair that looks like it'd be handsome if it wasn't windblown currently. He's wearing a black suit and a blue tie, weirdly paired with what looks like black hiking boots. He has electric blue eyes that swoop around the room and land on me.

I find I can barely move my mouth.

"Dad?"

Mwahahahaha. ANOTHER new character... Plus Ellie's Dad!

I'm not updating as much lately because I've been busy with the end of school coming up. I'm working as fast as I can, so updates are still comin' I promise.

Also, just gonna say, writing Merida and the triplets as grown-ups is MADDENING. So is writing Anna grown up. It's hard!

Anyway, as always, comment and I hope you liked!

(Also, acknowledge the fact that I now have like 14.5K VIEWS. Thanks to everybody who reads this! *Mentally throws candy and chocolate cake and other good stuffs*)
