Mahina
(For the people who originally read my last chapter where I cliffhangered on a mermaid--- @SpringStar186 (Who also won the guess-Ellie's-dad thingy) came up with the idea to add a new character in the story, and I liked the idea, so I went back and changed it to a girl with dark hair and eyes, okay? Just FYI. SHE IS NO LONGER A MERMAID!!)
(Also, imagine the picture up there with darker hair and different clothes, and greenish-brown eyes pleeeease?)

"Who are you supposed to be?" Sera asks, like talking to someone on a rock in the middle of our shipwreck is completely normal.
The girl stands up and grabs what looks like an oar, leaping off the rock up to our ship with a burst of wind that seems to appear just to help her. She lands on our deck, standing easily like she just jumped off a curb.
"I'm Mahina." Her vibrant green-brown eyes survey us. "Who are you, trespassing on New Motinui?" Her curly brown hair waves in the wind with her handmade clothes. Her dark skin nearly blends with the light wood of her oar.
"Motinui? You don't mean..." It clicks in my head. "Are you Moana's daughter?"
Mahina nods, her bright green-brown eyes sparkling. "And you just crashed your boat onto my relaxing spot."
"Wait, so there's an island around here?" Carlos asks.
Mahina points to a black speck in the distance.
"How'd you get out here, then?" Carlos asks.
Mahina smiles and stands up on the rail of the boat, spreading her arms and letting herself fall backward. We all yelp and rush forward, but she's already soaring up again, landing gently next to us.
"How are you doing that?" Carlos demands.
"The Ocean and the Wind help me." she says simply. "It helped my mother, it will help me when I have need of it."
My Aunt Anna fidgets, "Well, d'you think you can help us?"
Mahina turns her bright eyes to my aunt. "That depends. What do you need my help with?"
Sera gestures around. "Well, for one thing, notice the freakin' boat! Another, we need to get to Scotland. Auradon is under attack, and we're trying to gather peoples to come 'n help us fight the Shrimp."
Mahina blinks calmly and touches her necklace, which I recognize to be the one Moana wore on her journey. "We can help."
"No offense, Island Princess, but I don't see how you can help." Sera says.
Mahina just keeps smiling. "We can help. New Motunui can help. My mother and father can help."
"Stop saying help or I swear I'm going to hit you." Sera grumbles.
Mahina laughs, jumping up on the side of the boat again and sitting there, still holding her oar. "We can man a boat. We have a few fighters to help keep invaders out. And Te Fiti is on our side. Always. So long as a descendant of my mother is alive, she'll help them in times of great need. If you let me come with you, you will see."
Carlos coughs. "Well, we do need a new ship... or at least another way of getting to Scotland."
Mahini smiles wider and stands up on the rim again. "Who is coming?"
"You don't expect us to... jump, do you?" Eloise asks nervously.
Andy and Krissy grin. "DIBS!" They run towards the edge and almost fling themselves off when Aunt Anna catches their arms.
"Ah-ah-ah! No jumping just yet."
"Aw......"
Mahina reaches a hand down and hoists Krissy and Andy up next to her. "Anyone who is coming, stand up here next to me," she commands. EVeryone but Sara climbs up.
"I am not jumping to my watery death!" she growls, white as a sheet.
I roll my eyes and hold my hand out. "C'mon, Sera. We have to get to Scotland so we can get back to Auradon."
Sera hesitates for a second, then she ship unexpectedly tilts to the side with an almighty groan. Everyone but Mahina pitches to the side. She keeps her iron grip on Krissy, who's attached to Andy, who has Aunt Anna's hand, then Eloise, Carlos, me, and Sera still stubbornly scared of swimming.
"Sera, c'mon!" I yell. "This ship's going to capsize soon!"
"Uuuuuuggggggghhhhhhh fine!" She grabs my hand and Mahina does her trust-fall thing again instantly. Krissy and Andy barely have time to whoop at the top of their lungs before a huge aqua wave surges upward, wrapping around us and sending us cresting towards the island. Krissy and Andy are yelling happily, while Sera has her eyes closed and is still white.
Mahina smiles faintly as we get close to the shore. The wave lets us go, leaving us soaking wet on the soft sand. Krissy and Andy let go of who they're holding hands with fast, whooping at the top of their lungs and running forward.
"Kriss! Andy! GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!" Anna yells sternly. They both stop sadly and trot back to their mother. Mahina opens her mouth and a weird sound like a whistle and a "caw" comes out. She does it again and a few people appear in the tree line.
"Who are they?" asks one in a nasally voice. His suspicious black eyes scan us all and his hand doesn't slacken his grip on his spear.
"They are friends." Mahina says. "Not enemies. Relax."
Eloise hides behind her mother, and the only girl other than Mahina sees. "Why are they here? We were told we could live here in peace, remember?"
"Auradon is under attack," I blurt out. "We just escaped from Arendelle, which is under siege too, and we're trying to get to Scotland to get Merida and her family on our side."
The young girl's eyebrows jump up. She looks a bit like Mahina in dark skin, eyes, and hair, but she holds herself in a way that says she's a bit soft spoken. Her hair isn't silky curls like Mahina's, hers is thick and bushy, and her eyes are a deep gray. She sweeps her thick hair behind her shoulders and kneels down a few feet from Eloise.
"Your kingdom was attacked?" she asks gently.
Eloise nods, a single tear sliding down her cheek. Anna runs her hand through Ella's hair. The girl kneeling in front of her smiles.
"We could help. We're more powerful than you think, daughter of Ares." The girl looks up at Sera, who turns speechless.
"How'd you---"
The girl laughs. "Carlos De Vil, correct?" She runs her hand over the damp sand from the water that just dumped us. "I'm good friends with the Ocean. It speaks to me." she murmurs.
Mahina is grinning, while the other villagers are gazing at her uncomfortably. Then the girl looks up at me and her dreamy look turns to that of horror. She stands in an instant and backs away from me.
"Mahina! Why would you bring his presence here?" she demands.
"Kalia, she isn't him." Mahina scolds.
"Him who?" I ask. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
They both look at eachother. "You don't know who we're talking about?" Mahina finally says.
Carlos makes a time-out signal with his hands. "Stop. What are you guys talking about?"
Mahina hesitates for a moment. "Are you her relative?" She asks Anna.
My aunt nods.
"Are you okay if we tell her? Does she know?"
Anna shakes her head. "No, she doesn't know. But she should. You're welcome to tell her."
"Stop talking like I'm not here!" I say. "What are you all talking about?"
Mahina sits down in the sand. So does Kalia. "Sit. It's a long story." Mahina invites. We all sit down, Krissy throwing a bit of sand at her brother while doing it.

So, new characters! YAY! @SpringStar186 mentioned that not a lot of animated characters (recent ones) showed up in the movies, and recommended Moana, so I went along with it. Kalia was kind of me just having fun with Hawaiian names. Sorry!
Next chapter I PROMISE I'll tell Ellie's entire backstory, why she has her curse, and who her dad is. No more stalling for me!
As always, I really hope you liked it, and please comment what you think!
(Also, I looked up what 'Pua' meant, it said it meant flower! Flower the pig! Ha!)
