||Chapter 1 - Traveler, Lyra Arch||

Lyra's POV

"Hmm... I would take three cut up apples and one fish please." I asked the vendor who nodded and began preparing the order. I raised my arms up to stretch, yawning as I did so. I really need to stop being an early bird like this. The sun was barely rising over the horizon by time I woke up to continue my journey across the world. I was currently heading to an Air Temple to visit one of the monks for a 'spiritual cleaning' they like to call it. After that I'm supposed to head over to Fire Nation Territory to visit a friend of mine... And all of this has to be done in less then a week on foot. Where am I currently in the world you may ask? Oh ya know, only on the east side of the Earth Kingdom while the Fire Nation is across the world! I blew my dark brown hair out of my face, emerald green eyes glaring up at the sky. 'I hate my life. Why do I make so many promises in such a short span of time?' I asked myself in my head when the vendor placed my food in front of me

"How much will that be?"

"No charge. You are my first customer after all, don't travel too far away from civilization, I heard a storm is brewing." The vendor told me and I nodded, imagining myself do a dance of victory in my head at the sound of not having to pay for what I ordered. Wait, a storm was brewing? I glanced up at the sky, only a few clouds littering it

"It doesn't look like it's going to storm, it's pretty much clear skies."

"It's just what I heard from other vendors who were gonna go out to sea today. We best be careful just in case." He told me and I sighed with a nod. I better agree with him or else he will just keep bringing it up. I grabbed my bag of food, looking into it to see the slices of apples and the fish in two individual bags

"Thanks. Have a nice day."

"Will do. Be careful out there!" I walked away from him with a small wave. Time to try and get to the Eastern Air Temple before nightfall. As I walked I munched on the slices of apples, planning ahead to use the fish to eat for lunch. I have been traveling since I was nine years old, at first with my family of four. Everyone except my father and I were earth benders, my little brother luckily gaining the trait from our mother. For quite a long time I was disappointed in myself for not being able to bend earth, or any element for that matter. I have heard so many stories of different people from different nations coming together in a relationship and having children who carry on the bending. For example, the mother is an earth bender, while the father is an fire bender. They have two kids, one being able to bend rock, the other able to bend fire. Those cases used to be so rare but nowadays it's quite normal. My mom was born in the Earth Kingdom while my father was born in the North Pole. Hard to believe that I can't even bend water or earth with both of my father's and mother's lineage. But, over time I grew to love the freedom of being a Non-Bender, no worries of having to master the element I bend. There isn't much use for bending nowadays with technology on the rise, the most use for bending is for boiling water or creating shock waves for electricity. Basically, only people who bend fire get the most used out of it.

I looked over to my right when I heard laughing to see a group of kids playing in the mud, one of them who seemed a little bit older than the rest, bending the earth in the mud to attack the other kids with a grin. I smiled inwardly at the sight, even now. Peace has come to this world. I walked for a few miles, ignoring the aching in my feet and the burning of my calves as I came around a corner of the mountain pass, following the signs that led up to the Eastern Air Temple. Since Avatar Korra's Time came to an end, more and more Air Benders began to pop up randomly around the world leaving some of them to teach themselves how to bend the air, while others went and searched for other Air Benders to learn along with them. I even heard that a lot of them went straight to Avatar Aang's son, Tenzin and his family of Air Benders to learn. I shook my head, why am I monologuing so much today? Must be sleep deprivation hitting hard on my brain.

I jumped when an Sky Bison flew past me, snapping me out of my thoughts. I let out a breath shakily. I hate the Bisons here, they are quite mischievous, especially the younger ones

"Enjoying the view?" I heard a cocky voice ask making me roll my eyes. I looked up to see my friend Wane in the air balancing on a ball of air like a circus freak. I scoffed at him, giving him a look showing that I wasn't in the mood. I continued walking up the mountain path, ignoring Wane who continued to follow me from the air

"Nice to see you too, princess~" Wane greeted me teasingly and I groaned, throwing my head back revealing my emerald irises to him

"I'm not in the mood, Wane. Are you even supposed to be down here?" He shrugged at the question, giving off the impression that he snuck out of training to greet me

"Wane. If you keep runni- flying off, you will be punished more fiercely." I informed him and hummed, circling around above my head

"Fiercely? The Monks are anything but fierce. They aren't TigerBears, Lyra." The dark skinned boy concluded with a smirk. I shook my head at his antics, knowing full well once Wane was dead set on something, there was no stopping him. Like many, Wane wasn't born in a Air Temple, he actually came from the Southern Water Tribe at request by his parents who wanted him to master Air Bending, of course. Back then he was quite stubborn to actually travel up to an Air Temple just to learn some 'parlor tricks' he liked to call them. How the we met was shortly after I began coming to the Air Temple to get a Spiritual Cleaning, that day the master was teaching them how to properly care for a Sky Bison. Didn't end too well when Wane took some of the food for his assigned Sky Bison and threw them at me as a joke when I passed by them. The Monks weren't happy about that and at first I wasn't either until Wane's Sky Bison walked over to me and licked off the food off of me and out of my hair which only made me laugh alone with Wane. That is what started our odd friendship. We entered the Air Temple's Grounds, passing by other Air Benders who were just goofing off

"We must be on break." Wane stated and I nodded. He finally dropped from the air onto his feet, becoming in step beside me. We walked around mindlessly until I saw the Monk I was looking for, Monk Zealot. We headed over to him, Wane catching his attention

"Monk Zealot!" Wane called him. The mid-70 year old Air Bender looked at us from over his shoulder, a small smile gracing his features.

"I was wondering when you were arriving, welcome back Lyra." He welcomed me, pulling me into a hug in greeting. He pulled out of the hug, his eyes narrowing at Wane who gulped nervously

"You can't keep skipping out of lessons like this, Wane." Monk Zealot scolded him gently, resting his hand on my shoulder as we turned towards the teenage boy

"I won't need to know the difference between a lemur and muskrat in the future~!" Wane stated in defense making Monk Zealot sigh

"You never know, Wane. Run along now, it is time for her annual Spiritual Cleaning." Wane nodded in understanding, "I will see you later, Lyra!" He told me before running off and taking off into the air after stealing a glider off of one of the kids

"Wane, not again!" I laughed lightly at the sight, my eyes following after him as he quickly sent me a thumbs up with a grin

"Let's hope that he gets serious about learning in the future or we are doomed." I heard the Monk mutter before leading me away from the yard and into the temple itself.

To Be continued

WHAT HAVE I DONE I HAVE MADE ANOTHER FREAKEN STORY AHHHH!!! This story is going to be yet another side story so this won't be updated every few days probably just once a week if lucky. I actually got this idea when thinking about doing a story for The Legend of Korra series but went against that because I have only watched that once and barely remember anything from it and don't have to sit down and watched through all of it. Plus, it was a bit of a disappointment coming from a person who grew up along side Avatar: The Last Airbender. But, it was enjoyable nonetheless even if it took me a few minutes to realize and understand what was happening on screen. Thank you all for reading and feedback is much appreciated! -Golden
