"Tornado did you-"

"Yes, Zatara we saw. Earth's guard has failed, initiate terrestrial defense measures." RT ordered, "I must join the league, and protect the Earth at all costs, but should we fail, the responsibility falls to you."

"We stand by you." Aqualad nodded.

RT left and after he did we started to watch the news. Things weren't looking good. The Justice League was losing.

"We are Earth's heroes now." I announced.

"We need a plan. Earth's weapons will not work and it has become painfully clear that a direct approach will not work." Aqualad sighed.

"Here's where the aliens are now." Robin brought up a globe.

"This one get lost?" Superboy pointed to a lone ship at the top of the globe.

"That's the Fortress of Solitude. We'll target that one ship."

We all changed into thermal, white versions of our uniforms and left.

Once we got to the Fortress of Solitude I moved the ice up to trap the ship. Artemis blocked the exit with a foam arrow. Superboy jumped onto the ship and started to pull out the cannon. Wolf suddenly pushed him out of the way and got shot. We all were silent for a moment before continuing to work. Something didn't seem right about this. I looked down at my wrist and pulled my fingerless glove off. No wrap. I sprained my wrist not to long ago, the wrap should still be there. I moved my wrist in a circle slowly. No pain, it was fine. I put my glove back on.

More alien ships flew towards us. Everyone started running towards the bio-ship.

"Got you covered, get inside, I'm almost there!" Artemis yelled.

She shot down one of the ships, but the other one shot her before she could reload her bow.

"Artemis!" M'gann screamed.

"Get inside!" I ordered.

I put my arms out in front of me and clenched my fist causing the ice under the alien ship to be crushed. I sprinted back to the bioship and ran inside.

I sat silently in my seat listening to everyone mourn the death of Artemis. Something still wasn't right about this. The league wasn't dead, Artemis wasn't dead, Wolf wasn't dead. First the wrap, and KF's arm was fine, now this.

We landed at the Hall of Justice to help the army. We walked inside and I looked at the destroyed statues of the justice League.

M'gann gasped and pulled out Martian Manhunter from a heap of rubble.

"That means everyone else could still be alive." I realized.

More enemy ships flew towards us and destroyed the bio-ship. Everyone retreated into the library.

"Send the soldiers first." Aqualad ordered.

"Belay that you four are assets we can not lose."

Martian Manhunter went in first, then M'gann. I pushed Robin in front of me.

"You go."

"I care too much about you to let that happen." He pushed me through the zeta tube. The familiar tingling sensation spread throughout my body.

I looked around the cave and sighed sadly. This was the only place left.

"If they're keeping their victims they'll be on the mother ship atop what used to be Smallville." I reported pulling up a map, "Superboy, you'll distract them."

"No, they're offering you as bait! Aqualad would never do that!" M'gann argued.

"You're right. Aqualad would sacrifice himself, an instinct that has cost us our leader."

I started a broadcast pulling the team into the camera range with me.

"I know all seems lost, but the aliens can not destroy hope, we are a spark that is catching fire. If we burn they burn with us!" I announced.

"It doesn't matter how many fall. New heroes will always rise to carry on." KF continued.

"The people of Earth will survive. We will rebuild and we will thrive. Never forget and never doubt, the Earth will never surrender!"

I stood next to Robin and nodded to Superboy who jumped out and started the distraction. I motioned for the rest of us to run inside.

"No, he's gone." M'gann cried stopping.

"It's alright, we'll find him with the others." I assured.

"No, my mind is clearer now. The disintegration beam is exactly that. There is no detention facility, our mission holds no purpose."

"Then how did you survive?" I asked and got no answer.

"I've been scanning for league and team signals since we got here, they're gone. But our mission still holds purpose, to destroy this mother ship." Robin said determined.

We all ran through the halls towards the power core. A new form of determination shining in our once sad eyes.

"Blow this and the whole ship goes down." Robin confirmed.

He stood up and started to get pulled backwards towards the core. I grabbed his hand, starting to get pulled with him KF grabbed my ankle. We all started to move towards the core.

Robin shot his grappling hook so we could stop moving. M'gann let us down slowly. We landed on the core, it was warm, and looked like a small sun. Robin took the bombs off of his shoulder and activated them.

"Four minutes." He announced.

The door closed so we couldn't leave the room.

"Uncle Martian take M'gann and go!" I ordered.

"You're going too." Robin claimed.

"No I'm not, I'm staying here with you." I crossed my arms.

Robin hugged me tightly. I pulled back and leaned my forehead on his. We leaned in closer until our noses were touching, then our lips. It was gentle yet desperate. Our lips spilled all the words we didn't have time to say.

"5, 4, 3, 2, 1."

I opened my eyes and sat up. I looked around and saw that everyone was okay. I touched my wrist and sighed in relief when the wrap was present. I quickly stood up and ran to Robin hugging him tightly. He hugged me back just the same.

"The exercise, it all went wrong."

"Exercise?"

"What you all went through was an exercise, Manhunter physically linked you. You all went in knowing it was not real. What you didn't know was that it was a trained for failure exercise, no matter what you did it was going to get worse. The reason you all barely mourned was because you knew it wasn't real."

"But it all changed when Artemis died. Miss.Martian believed that she had died causing all of you to believe it too. Well, almost all of you," Manhunter looked at me, "even Artemis was so convinced she had passed she didn't wake up like she should have, instead she slipped into a coma like state. I had to enter to stop M'gann, but upon arrival my mind became clouded. Only when the mothership exploded did I remember why I came. To shock M'gann out of the simulation before your comas became permanent. My apologies, I didn't know an exercise could be so damaging."

Martian Manhunter's P.O.V

I started walking out and stumbled. Batman caught me before I could fall to the floor.

"As bad as that?"

"Perhaps worse." I sighed.

"Yet this is not what troubles you." Red Tornado stated.

"(Y/n) and my niece are perhaps the strongest heroes I have ever encountered. My niece's powers rival that of my own, despite her being untrained. And (Y/n) while half Lord of Order half something we have never seen before. She is more powerful than Dr.Fate."

(Y/n)'s P.O.V

I stood next to Robin trying to calm down and process everything. I knew something was wrong, but everyone else thought that it was normal. Why didn't I? What was wrong with me?

"I can think of one good thing that came out of this." Wally claimed.

"What good could have come from this?" Artemis snapped.

"These two finally kissed." Wally pointed to me and Robin.

Everyone looked at us with wide eyes and smiling faces. Both of us shifted uncomfortably. Red blushes covered our faces.

"W- we were going to die." I stuttered.

"You kissed until the timer was done." Wally added.

"You suck Wally!"
