"So you decided to stay. Sensible choice. Well, all you have to do is sign on an agreement."he said, clearly approving of my choice.

"Agreement of what?"

"Of our deal."

"Explain."

His eyes acquired a dangerous glint to them at my demanding tone.

"We train people like you. We help them to recognise and control their powers in return they give us with their loyalty and take up various posts in our establishment. This place, named as Core, takes up people like you under our wing." he said curtly.

People like me? What does he mean?

"Wh-what do you mean by people like me?"

"Tell me Renée, have you lately noticed something unusual around you? Anything?"

My mind went back to when wisps of smoke had started forming around my fingers as I looked in the horrified eyes of Atticus.

I thought about how searing hot my hand was and how there was a warm buzz flowing through my body.

I remembered how the sparks flew out of my hands last night. How the strange hum in my body made me feel some sort of power.

I remembered the piercing howl that rang through the air in the middle of the city last night.

What was that creature?

And if it was actually a wild animal.....then....then how am I still alive?

All the events came crashing back to me all at once.

I screwed my eyes shut as I got overwhelmed with the sudden spin of my head.

Did this happen to others? There were other like me?

I looked back at Felix only to find him staring intently at me with a knowing look in his eyes.

I didn't respond. I didn't know what to say.

What am I ?

"You are an Elemental."

He answered my unspoken question as if he exactly knew what I was thinking.

"Elemental?"

"Yes. Elemental. You are one of the chosen ones to wield the power of nature, the power of elements."

"Wh-what are you saying?" I ran my hands through my tangled mess of hair in frustration. "What do you mean by chosen?"

"Chosen by Aether."

"Aether? As in the Greek god guy?" I asked incredulously.

"Yes, exactly. There are four main elements that are- fire,water,earth and air of course. And all the other elements revolve around these. Elementals with one of the main elemental power are called Imperials."

I just stared at him. Blankly.

Is this dude for real?

"Are you crazy?"

That's the only thing I managed to spew out. I didn't even know how to respond to the sheer incredulity of this guy.

"Of course I didn't expect you to believe that. That is exactly why I'll be showing you around our institution. Maybe then you will accept your identity."

"What do you wanna show?"

He got up from his seat and started towards the door.

"If you'll follow me." He motioned me to follow him out the door.

I followers him out of the office and strode back towards the reception area or whatever it was.

We moved toward the huge glass door and he lead !e outside into a lush greenery.

Trees were surrounding the area in a neat circle as if someone carefully measured and placed them around.

Birds and butterflies were flittering around. It looked as if spring was in full bloom even though it was Autumn at that time.

The green space around almost looked as if it was extracted straight out of some fairytale unlike the sci-fi building I just came out of. But despite that the building seemed to belong to the surroundings.

Felix was heading toward the right where there was some kind of training ground...maybe. There were people roaming around but I couldn't see what they were doing.

"This is where our members do their training and practice their powers." Felix stated.

I didn't say anything because,I didn't really know what to say.

I kept following him until we came near enough to actually see what those people were doing.

My jaw literally hit the floor.

A guy was thrusting his hand forward and the pebble in front of him floated around. It was as if he was moving them.

Another one had his eyes screwed shut in concentration and shards of ice....freaking ice formed around his clenched fists.

A girl had a few metal scraps flying towards her. She seemed pretty pleased with herself. But then she started panicking as every inch of her arm covered in junk. She flailed her arms round trying to get rid of them.

The place was full of people doing freakish things that got my jaw to be dangling open.

I turned to Felix to find him looking at me with an analyzing gaze.

"Wh-what the- this...I.."

I couldn't even form a question. What was I supposed to ask?

What the fuck?

That was the only question that seemed appropriate.

"They are your peers. They are your fellow elementals."

I didn't reply. All I could do was stare at the scene before me.

"Every elemental has a special power. The girl over there is Magneticus, power of magnet. That boy you see is a Glacies.
And that one is a Petram."  He explained.

"What?"

"You don't seem to have a very vast vocabulary Miss Rodriguez."
He stated with an unimpressed expression.

Well dude sorry but how do you suppose I was going to react to flying stones and scraps?

"I- I am like that?" I asked cautiously.

"Yes you are very much like that. We just don't know your power yet but don't worry its just a matter of time we get to know that.
I thought about the sparks. If I really was what he said then that might explain what had happened last night.

"If I am an..an Elemental...then wh-why now...why hadn't you reached me earlier?"

"An Elementals power start to show when they are around twenty or nineteen years of age. Our shape-shifting agents can detect the aura around Elementals. This aura becomes more prominent when a sliver of the power is exhibited. In most cases it happens unknowingly."

Sliver of power

Was that spark a 'sliver' of my supposed power?

I tried to process the information I was hit with.

"So, if you want to join us, we will help you nourish your power to your full extent and in return you'll have to work for us once your training is complete. Of course the choice of what job to take up would be yours."

He seemed to have a flicker of pride in his otherwise stoic face.

"Do you agree?"

Do I ?

I really don't have a choice. If I leave this place then I would be arrested for sure. And till now it didn't seem any of the people here would be of much harm.

Also I wanted answers. That seemed like my priority right now.

"Yes, I do."

"We'll, then welcome to your new home."

No I'm not dead..I'm very much alive.

I'm sooo sorry I couldn't post earlier.

And I'm very very sorry that this chapter is just a filler.

But I promise I'll make  up to you in the next chapter.

Hopefully I'll post the next one sooner.
