Recap

I looked around me as a girl started to go down on her knees and crossed her arms over her chest to make an X.

Slowly the others started to follow her lead until the whole arena was bowing to me. Even the guy I was fighting with.

Then all of them propped one knee up and extended one arm towards me and shouted in sync.

"IGNIS!"

"What?"

Currently I was under the scrutiny of Victoria while we were waiting in the Chairman's office.

Apparently my elemental type; Ignis is considered to be one of the Imperials.

"You seriously are an Imperial!" she exclaimed.

I stared at her blankly.

"This would be the seventh time in last five minutes, you have stated that fact."

"Do you not understand how big this is ?" she asked incredulously.

"I'm not the first one to be an Imperial am I?

"No obviously you are not the first one, but Imperials are super rare. And on top of that this would be the first time in ages that two Imperials exist together."she explained.

"Who's the other one?"

"Damien White. Trust me he's so hot. I know he's a jerk but he's a hottie nonetheless." She rambled on like an excited fangirl.

Damien?

The name rang a bell in my mind but I couldn't really point out who it was. Just as I was about to ask Victoria about it I heard the click of the door opening behind me.

Mr. Knight came into view with a grim look on his face. He went around the desk and took his seat.

"Miss Victoria, would you please leave for a moment?"

Victoria scurried out of the room leaving me alone to deal with him.

Mr Knight took his time to drill holes into me with his interrogating eyes.

I waited for him to speak.

"So, Miss Rodriguez, you found out your power type." he finally said.

I waited for him to continue.

"You do realize what responsibilities come with being an Imperial right?"

"Well not unless you fucking tell me." He was ticking me off with his stalling.

"If you can't handle the consequences of your attitude, you better mind your language." His eyes were glaring warningly.

"Being an Imperial" he continued "means you are destined to control, that is you have a guaranteed place in the Managing Board. The verdicts and decisions made by the Imperials present in the Board will be considered as the final decision. Do you know what this means?"

"Power?" I shrugged.

"Yes, power along with responsibility of this whole community. Your decisions will decide our fates. Do you understand how big of a responsibility that is?" He asked.

"I didn't ask for this responsibility! I don't want to decide your fates! This is not what are I signed up for!" I practically shouted at his face.

"It doesn't matter if you want this or not. And yes, you did sign up exactly for this."

I was totally not ready for this. Having freakish powers? Fine. Having to stay in a completely foreign place? Fine.

But practically ruling people?

No.

This was a huge responsibility that I was not ready to take.

" Miss Rodriguez I know this is big, but you must have been chosen for a reason. Just believe in yourself."

"Mr Knight its not that easy. My life has been upturned in a matter of days. I'm still having trouble to take in all of this and in top of that a responsibility this big? Its too much."

Maybe he noticed the tinge of tiredness in my voice, because his voice softened a notch.

"I know its too much but I also know that you can do this. I have faith in you and I hope you come to recognize your strength too."

I looked into his aging eyes. Within all of that hardness there was a glint of hope somewhere in there. Barely noticeable, but it was there.

"Okay" I sighed." I'll give it a try."

"Good. Your first task would be to have an understanding with the only other Imperial. You will have difficulties because your elemental instincts will naturally cause you both to be repelled from each other."

Right now I was sitting in the now empty arena, waiting for Damien, the other imperial.

I don't know exactly how I was supposed to share an understanding with him.

I hadn't met Victoria after coming out of the Chairman's office. If I did I would have asked her a few things in advance. Also I didn't want to ask anyone else, not when they eyeing me as if I some alien or something.

Getting tired with all the waiting, I stood up and started to walk around.

It was a pretty big arena. There were equipments and weapons of all kinds lined up on the walls.

I wondered if all elementals would have to practice fighting.

Just as I was examining a sword, I felt something stir up inside me, making me go all agitated and on guard as if I was expecting an attack.

I looked around the room to see if anything was there but I met up with an empty space.

I peeped out of the door to see if anyone was there, but no. So I turned back to go inside.

The very next second  someone caught my hands behind me and pushed me to the nearest wall. The sudden move made me dizzy so it took me a second to adjust my eyes, only to find two ocean blue eyes staring back right into mine.

His ragged breath fanning my face.

His close presence and his mesmerizing eyes got me lost for a moment.

He was smirking, obviously noticing my state.

"So Renée, let's begin."

Finally I updated. And hopefully I will be updating more frequently from now on as the shit going on in my life has finally settled(somewhat).
