Ultimate Moves

As I was walking back to the dorm I saw a small group standing outside. As I got closer I realized that it was Kirishima, Todoroki, Midoriya, Momo, Iida, Uraraka, and Tsu. She was in the center and they hugged her like they were trying to make her feel better about something. I hesitated for a moment trying to give them space. I waited until they went back inside before heading in myself. As I crossed the common room I looked at Midoriya. I knew about his quirk now but I was afraid to tell him.

Midoriya looked at me before tilting his head in confusion. I quickly bolted up the stairs, as I was heading up to the second floor, I ran into someone. I looked up and saw Todoroki looking down at me. "I'm sorry," I said trying to scoot passed him.

"Why are you avoiding me?" Todoroki asked. I stopped in my tracks and sighed.

"I'm not," I said. "I'm just tired." After, I bolted to my room.

The next day I came into class just before the bell rang. As soon as I sat down Shota walked in through the door. "Good morning everyone. Our primary goal is for you all to get your provisional licenses. Hero licenses are directly tied to the saving of lives. One must be qualified for such a responsibility. So naturally, the test is incredibly difficult. Even for provisional licenses we only see a 50% success rate."

"It's really that hard?" Sero asked.

Shota nodded, "that's why, starting today each of you needs to come up with at least two ultimate moves." At that moment Midnight, Cementoss, and Ectoplasm entered the room while the other students cheered about being able to do something hero related.

"Ultimate moves are your finisher, your most unique technique," Ectoplasm explained.

"Internalize these moves and make them your own until they become unparalleled," Cementoss added. "Combat is all about finding and making use of your particular strengths."

"Your moves symbolize who you are," Midnight said. "Now a days pro heroes without an ultimate move are a dying breed."

"It's time to move forward with a detailed explanation and practical demonstration," Shota said. "Change into your costumes and meet at gym gamma."

In the locker room, I put on my costume. I found my glider tucked inside the case. They had made it so it could collapse and fit onto my belt. It was about the size of a baton. I clipped it onto the empty loop on my hip. I pulled my hood up but left my goggles around my neck.

"Um, Kanna?" Tsu said from behind me. "Is everything okay with you? You haven't been as cheerful as you normally are."

"I'm just trying to figure stuff out," I said vaguely. I didn't let her respond before hurrying off towards gym gamma.

Once everyone was there Cementoss began speaking, "gym gamma is also known as the Training Kitchen Lab, or TKL for short. I came up with the idea for this place. Here I can cook up the perfect terrain and objects for each student."

"Sir, why must we create ultimate moves to acquire our provisional licenses?" Iida asked. "Please explain the intention behind this."

"In good time," Shota said. "Heroes deal with accidents, catastrophes, and disasters both man made and natural. It's our job to save people from just about any situation. In the licensing exam, your ability to adapt in those situations will be observed. Intelligence gathering, decision making, mobility, combat prowess, as well as communication skills, charisma, and leadership abilities. The test contents vary from year to year, but applicants are always tested on a variety of this criteria."

"Among the criteria combat prowess will be heavily prioritized for potential heroes," Midnight said.

"Be prepared and you'll have nothing to fear," Cementoss said as he made a tiered area for us to train. There was a level for each student. Ectoplasm made clones of himself one for each platform.

"These moves you make could have a big impact on whether or not you pass," Midnight explained. "If you can keep a cool head and act with decisive, stable moves that means you have a high level of combat prowess."

"There's nothing that says an ultimate move has to be an attack," Ectoplasm added. "For example take Iida's Recipro Burst. That sort of extreme speed boost is intimidating enough to be called an ultimate move."

"So we just gotta come up with moves that will give us a big advantage in battle?" Sato asked.

"Yes, remember last week how Kamui Woods showed his stuff?" Midnight asked. "His Lacquered Chain Prison is a cookie cutter ultimate move. It's simple and easy to understand."

"The summer training camp was cut short but the quirk training you began there was a part of the process to creating ultimate moves. In other words until the second semester starts you will be using the ten remaining days of summer vacation to enhance your quirks and put together ultimate moves through some extra intense training. As your quirks grow and you start to put together these moves think about whether or not you need to alter your costumes." Shota said. "Use that Plus Ultra mentality to go beyond your limits."

I jumped up onto one of the higher platforms. "So have you put any thought into an ultimate move?" Ectoplasm asked.

"I have a couple but I'm not sure if they are ultimate moves or not," I said tapping my chin.

"Let's see," Ectoplasm nodded.

I opened my water bottles and controlled the water. I tossed it in front of him while heating it up. "Steam Burst!" I yelled creating a fog.

"I think it's a good start of one," Ectoplasm said. "It might be better with more water then you can create a denser fog. What's the other one."

"Sky Blade!" I yelled as I brought blades of wind down upon Ectoplasm, destroying the clone. "Oh oops. I leaned over the side, can I have another clone?"

"That was very good, that would definitely work as an ultimate move," Ectoplasm said. "I think it might be good if you have a move for each of your elements, or even combinations."

"Okay," I nodded and we began working on how I could combine fire with air. It took many, many tries but I began to make a spiral of flames.

"Young Shichi, how are things going over here?" All Might said startling me.

"All Might what are you doing here?" I asked, letting the fire die down.

"I couldn't miss you guys making your ultimate moves," All Might said. "I actually had an idea for you."

"You did?" I tilted my head.

"Remember at the USJ when you made that air shield? Well I was thinking that you could make smaller versions of it and wrap it around yourself. It would be a nice defense against attackers," All Might explained.

"I'll try," I said. I brought my hands up and envisioned the air wrapping around my hands. Ectoplasm went in for an attack but he was blocked by the shield. "I did it!" I exclaimed.

"Good job!" All Might smiled. "Keep up the good work."

"Thank you," I smiled back at him.

As soon as class was over I went straight to my dorm. Everyday was like this over the next four days. Class would start, I would work on my ultimate moves, and then I would go to my room. On the fourth day I was practicing my gliding. I came up with an attack using my glider as a weapon.

I flew down at Ectoplasm, collapsed my glider back into the pole and as I was falling I swung the glider. Hot air came rushing at him and I yelled, "Aerial Burst!" It wasn't enough to damage him but it did knock him off balance, giving me the chance to pin him to the ground.

"You're getting better with that," Ectoplasm said. "Let's go again."

I started to learn how to fight better with the glider pole as well. I found that I could plant it into the ground, use the earth to stabilize it, and then swing myself around for stronger kicks. As Ectoplasm and I were sparring I heard a commotion from below.

"Look out!" Someone yelled. I saw a piece of rock was falling right on All Might.

Suddenly Midoriya jumped up and kicked the rock smashing it. It seemed he was trying to use his legs instead of punching. My eyes went wide when I realized something, he was using my moves. I used a kick like that on him when we were training once. I saw him look up at me and I quickly looked away, trying to get back to what I was doing.

Later that afternoon I was sitting in my dorm when I heard a knock at my door. I got up and opened it, Bakugo was standing in front of me. "Um hi," I said holding the door open.

"I need you to- hang on is that me?" Bakugo said looking behind me. He pushed passed me and walked up to my wall of drawings. "You drew these?"

"Yeah," I said. I could feel my face turning pink.

Bakugo grabbed the one I drew of him. "You wrote 'King Explosion Murder' behind me," he laughed.

"I don't know what your hero name is," I said tucking my hair behind my ear.

"Well at least you made me look cool," Bakugo said putting the drawing back. "Come on."

"Huh?" I looked up at him.

"Let's go," Bakugo grabbed me by my wrist and led me down the hall and into the common area.

"Bakugo, let me go!" I snapped before realizing the rest of my classmates were gathered around as well. "What's going on?"

"We are all worried about you," Uraraka said.

"You've been hiding out in your room and you seem so sad," Jiro said.

"We all saw the press conference," Kirishima said. "But the thing is we don't care about what happened. You are one of us and we've all missed seeing your cheerful face."

"You know I've killed people right?" I said cooly.

"It wasn't your fault," Bakugo said. "It was those bastards who hurt you."

"Besides, you are probably one of the nicest people in our class," Sero said.

My class was here, everyone showing me their support and saying such kind words to me. Tears formed in my eyes and I couldn't stop them. Suddenly I was being embraced by Uraraka, Midoriya, and Iida. "You guys," I said trying to stop crying.

"We love you Shichi!" Midoriya said.

"You are our friend!" Iida added.

"Come back and hang out with us," Uraraka said, I noticed she too had tears in her eyes.

I was so glad to have such amazing friends. "Okay, I'll do better!" I said giving them all a smile.

"Shichi," Todoroki came up to me. "I'm glad."

"I'm sorry for avoiding you all," I said turning to them. "I was just afraid you would think badly of me or think I was some sort of villain."

"We could never see you as a villain!" Sato said.

"You are way too nice, plus you keep rushing into things like a hero does," Kaminari laughed.

"You even told Stain off," Iida said.

"Thanks you guys," I said earnestly.

After everything was settled I grabbed Midoriya and pulled him aside. "All Might told me about you and your quirk."

"Yeah I know," Midoriya said, slightly flustered. "You aren't going to tell anyone right?"

"No," I shook my head. "I was also given my quirk and I was so confused about if I should use it but when All Might told me about you, I thought about how much you've put in to make it your own. I want to do that too."

"You already have," Midoriya said.

I blushed, unsure what to say. "I noticed you are using your legs now."

"Oh yeah after the incident in the forest, I found out that if my arms sustain any more serious damage I might lose them, so I had braces made to support them and now I'm trying shoot style." Midoriya explained. "I got inspiration from you and Iida."

"Well I think that is a good idea," I smiled.

"Maybe I can practice with you sometime," Midoriya said brightly.

"I'd like that," I smiled back.

As I walked back across the common room I saw the girls sitting together, "Shichi come join us!" Hagakure called.

I walked over and sat down next to Tsu. "What are you guys talking about?"

"Just how things are going with our ultimate moves," Momo said.

"I saw you flying around with that glider," Tsu said. "What's that like?"

"It's still kinda hard to control it fully but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it," I said. "How are things going for you guys?"

"I have some ideas about what I want to do, but my body isn't ready yet," Momo said. "I just need to focus on enhancing my quirk. What about you Tsu?"

"I've been trying to perfect my frog-like techniques, one of which might surprise you Toru," Tsu giggled. It made me start wondering what exactly frogs could do. "What have you been working on Ochaco?"

"Mostly just my motion sickness," Uraraka said. She seemed slightly distracted.

"Hey Snowflake!" Bakugo said suddenly, making me jump.

"Yeah?" I blinked up at him.

"Take a walk with me," he said bluntly.

I looked at the other girls who just shrugged. "Okay then," I stood up and followed him out of the dorms. We walked out on the campus in silence. "What did you want to talk about?" I said as we walked. The cool night air felt nice.

"I just wanted to make sure you were okay," Bakugo said. He turned his face away from me but he seemed to be blushing slightly. "I'm sorry I dragged you out of your room earlier."

"Oh it's okay," I said quickly. "I think I needed it. I was so afraid everyone would hate me."

"Don't be an idiot, no one could hate you," Bakugo said. We walked over to a bench and sat down. "I was thinking about what that villain said about your quirk."

I tensed up, "what about it?"

"I think that guy was just trying to make you feel bad. So don't take what he said to heart," Bakugo said looking right into my eyes.

"Oh, yeah, I've been trying not to," I said fiddling with the hem of my t-shirt. "All Might and Shota said something similar. So as I've been working on my ultimate moves I've been-," I was cut off by Bakugo as he brought his lips to mine.

The kiss was so sudden I didn't know what to do. It felt like forever but it must have only been a couple of seconds before I pulled away. "Shichi," Bakugo said. His face was slightly flushed but he seemed perfectly calm.

"B-bakugo," I didn't know what to say. My face was becoming warm and for some reason I felt guilty. It must have been written on my face because he sighed and leaned back.

"It's that IcyHot bastard huh?" Bakugo asked, he seemed slightly disappointed but not angry.

"Huh?" I looked up at him puzzled.

"You like him don't you," Bakugo clarified. "You've liked him for a while now, haven't you?"

"I don't know," I said tapping my fingers together. "Maybe?"

Bakugo gave me a look, "maybe?"

"Okay, yeah, fine I like him," I said blushing even more.

Bakugo started laughing, "you're cute when you are flustered."

"Am not!" I retorted which made him laugh harder. I gave him a smile and giggled. "Do you think we can be friends?"

"Sure, why not?" Bakugo shrugged.

"You're okay with that, Bakugo?" I said. I just wanted to make sure.

"Of course," Bakugo said patting my head. "If you want, you can call me Katsuki."

"Okay then, Katsuki," I smiled while tilting my head.

"I hope you know I'm still gonna beat you," Katsuki grinned.

"You can try," I smirked back at him.

"Oh it's so on, Snowflake!" Katsuki jumped up.

"You know you can call me Kanna," I huffed.

"Yeah, whatever," Katsuki said smugly. "We should head back to the dorms."

"Okay," I nodded and we walked back together.

As we passed the entrance Midoriya was practicing some moves outside. "No Iida doesn't do it like that. Maybe I should have him and Shichi show me? I don't know, I can picture it in my head." he was muttering to himself, flipping through his notes. Katsuki rolled his eyes and I giggled.

We entered and I saw the girls had already gone up to bed. Kirishima and Todoroki were standing in the common room still. "Hey IcyHot!" Katsuki exclaimed. "You better not hurt her!"

"What?" Todoroki blinked at him. Katsuki just scoffed and headed off to bed.

"What was that about?" Kirishima asked me.

"I have no idea, he's weird," I laughed nervously. "Anyway it's late, good night guys!"

"Night," Todoroki and Kirishima said still confused.

The next days passed by quickly and the day of our exams arrived. We unloaded off the bus at the test site, The National Takoba Arena. "I'm kinda nervous," Jiro said as we watched other students head inside.

"Can we really earn our licenses?" Kaminari asked, it seemed he too was nervous.

"It's not a matter of can, you will earn them," Shota said. "Earn your provisional licenses by passing this test and you won't be mere eggs but full-fledged hatchlings. You will be reborn as semi pros. So do your best."

"Let's all cheer together!" One of my classmates said. All together we let out a big, "PLUS ULTRA!"

"PLUS ULTRA!" A student from another school joined in with us. We were all confused as to who this boy was and why he suddenly appeared.

"Inasa, it's bad manners to interrupt another group's huddle," one of his classmates said.

"I am so sorry!" Inasa smashed his head into the ground as he apologized.

"Who is this guy?" Kaminari asked.

"He's like a mix of Kirishima and Iida but doubled," Sero said.

"I recognize their uniforms," Midoriya said. "They are from the west!"

"UA in the east and Shiketsu in the west," Katsuki said. "Their school is one of the few elite hero courses that can rival UA."

"I freaking love UA!" Inasa said. He was bleeding from his forehead but he clearly hadn't noticed. "I've always wanted to say Plus Ultra! It's an honor to be competing alongside the fine students of UA!" He said before leaving to join his classmates.

"Inasa Yoarashi," Shota said watching him leave.

"Do you know him, sir?" Tsu asked.

"Yes, he's very strong." Shota warned.
