Stain

A red scarf fluttered in the breeze as Stain cocked his head at Todoroki and I. He was armed to the teeth in knives and his look was one of disgust, especially at Iida. This was the man who killed 17 heroes and has injured even more. He was a villain in a whole other league and we were about to face him. I wasn't sure if we were stupid or brave or somewhere in between.

"Shichi, get him away from them!" Todoroki called as he sent a wave of ice to protect Native and Iida.

"Right!" I nodded and swiped my arm sending a gust of wind making Stain jump back.

"Next time send more details, Midoriya," Todoroki said sending a burst of fire at Stain. "It took us a minute to figure out you needed help."

"The pros will be here soon!" I called out. Stain jumped over the fire and as he was falling I sent another burst of air, trying to slow him down.

"Todoroki, Shichi don't let him cut you!" Midoriya warned. "If he licks your blood you won't be able to move!"

"You have some good friends, Ingenium," Stain glanced at Iida as he sliced at Todoroki's cheek. As he tried to lick the blood Todoroki released more fire making him recoil. Stain came charging right towards me blade in hand. I brought my forearm up and metal hit metal.

"Stop you two!" Iida said as I kicked Stain. "I inherited my brother's name, I have to be the one to defeat him!"

Todoroki made a wall of ice between Stain and I. "Really? The Ingenium I know never made faces like that!"

"Not smart blocking your view!" Stain sliced through the ice wall, going for Todoroki. Instead he met me, a knife went through my shoulder, just below my shoulder pads. I hit the ground with him above me. The sword in his hand angled down trying to pierce me. As he brought it down I moved my head nearly grazing my cheek. I kicked up with fire making Stain jump back. He threw two knives that went into Todoroki's forearm.

As Stain came down to attack Todoroki Midoriya was up and attacked faster that I could see. He punched Stain and landed in front of me. "Are you okay?" Midoriya asked.

"Fine," I said, pulling the knife out of my shoulder. It wasn't too serious and I could still move my arm. He wasn't trying to kill me with that blow. I used my water to wipe away the blood from the blade.

"How are you moving?" Todoroki asked Midoriya.

"I have three guesses," Midoriya said bringing his hands up. "1. The effect is weaker the more people he uses it on. 2. It depends on how much blood he ingests. 3. It depends on blood type."

"I'm type B," Native groaned.

"Type A," Iida said.

"Good guess kid," Stain grinned. "You're right about blood type, but it's not going to help you."

"I don't think we can escape," Todoroki said looking around. "Our best bet is to avoid him until the pros arrive."

"Agreed, he's trying to kill Iida and Native," Midoriya said. "I will draw his attention while Todoroki defends from the rear. Shichi, you stay in the middle and run support."

"Right!" Todoroki and I nodded agreeing with our roles.

"The three of us will protect them!" Midoriya said determined.

"Three against one?" Stain said drawing a new blade. "At least you're not naive."

Green lightning surround Midoriya as he rushed in to attack. He somehow managed to control his quirk. Todoroki would send bursts of ice and fire when Midoriya jumped away, directing Stain to my path. I reached my hand into my sand bag and pulled out a handful. With my earth quirk I tossed it into his face trying to blind him. He saw through my move and dodged, sending the sand skittering into the ground.

"Trying to blind me?" Stain brought a blade towards me. I blocked using the knife he stabbed me with. "You seem to know what you are doing in a fight, girl."

"I'm not going to let you kill them!" I shouted as I used my water like a whip. "We will protect them, because that's what a hero would do!"

Midoriya took over for me, giving me a chance to catch my breath. "Stop you guys," Iida said, his voice was strained. "I can't watch this, I can't stand to see you all bleed for me."

"Then get up!" Todoroki said. A burst of flame came in between Stain and I. "Don't forget who you want to be!"

Stain stabbed Midoriya and licked the blade, bringing him down. As he ran for Todoroki he threw knives at me going into my bicep. "You rely too much on your quirk!" He said as he tried to slice Todoroki's chest.

Crap, I wasn't going to make it in time and there was no way for him to dodge this. Just as I was about to bring a rock wall between them Iida got up. "Recipro Burst!" He shot forward and kicked the sword breaking it in half. The blood must have worn off. Stain jumped back away from Todoroki. Midoriya was on the ground behind him and I ran over, joining Iida and Todoroki.

"Midoriya, Shichi, Todoroki, this had nothing to do with you," Iida began. Before Todoroki and I could interject he cut us off. "I'm so sorry. I swear I won't allow you to lose any more blood because of me!"

"There is no use in pretending," Stain said glaring at Iida. "You have already shown your true nature and that isn't something so easily changed. You are a fake who chose his own selfish desires. Society has a warped view on heroes and someone needs to correct this. If people don't die then the system will never change."

"Don't listen to him Iida," Todoroki said. "He's just a fundamentalist who hasn't got with the times."

"Who are you to decide who is a hero and who isn't?" I asked Stain. "Do you really think you are doing something honorable by taking lives? You are just a criminal and a murder!" All Might's words about idealistic criminals played in my mind. This was the look in their eyes he was talking about. This person killed in the name of something he believed in, making him more dangerous than the other villains we've met.

"No he's right," Iida said. "I have no right to call myself a hero, but I won't let him break me. If he does then the name Ingenium dies!"

"You really are hopeless," Stain said almost disappointed. He came charging forward at us blades in hand.

"Todoroki! Water!" I called over my shoulder as I ran to meet Stain. My three water bottles were empty, but Todoroki melted his ice and I took control from there. Fire in one hand and water in the other. If he scratched us I would wipe away the blood before he could drink it. His sword scraped against my gauntlet and I kicked him in the ribs before smacking him with the water.

"You need to leave!" Native called to us. "He's only after me and the armored kid!"

"I don't think he would let us leave," Todoroki said giving me support. "He's too fired up right now."

As I continued to distract Stain I noticed Iida and Todoroki talking, trying to come up with a plan. "You should pay more attention girl!" Stain brought a knife up catching my arm. As he went to lick my blood I tossed my water into his face. He kicked me into the wall before running at Todoroki. I coughed up blood as I hit the ground. I was pretty sure he fractured a rib or two. As Stain stabbed at Todoroki his blade met Iida's arm instead.

"I'm not going to let you hurt them!" Iida yelled. I noticed he had ice on his engines, cooling them down. Stain jumped into the air above them, however at the same time Midoriya got up. Both were on Stain, Iida with a kick and Midoriya with a punch. "I will defeat you because you are a criminal and I am a hero!" Iida declared as the blows hit Stain head on. As he was falling Todoroki sent fire directly into his face.

"I got you!" I jumped up and sent two bursts of air cushioning their falls. Stain on the other hand landed on a chunk of Todoroki's ice.

"Thanks, Shichi," Midoriya said as he jumped to the ground.

"It's not over yet," Todoroki said waiting for Stain to move.

"I think he's out," I said taking a glance at Stain's unmoving body.

"Let's take his weapons and tie him up then," Midoriya said. I noticed he was limping, most likely he sprained his ankle with that last move.

"Shichi, you are bleeding a lot from your shoulder," Iida pointed out. "Todoroki can you help her?"

"You are bleeding a lot yourself," I pointed out.

"I'll be fine," Iida said with a soft smile. "I'll help Midoriya with Stain."

Come here," Todoroki said pulling a bandage from his pocket. He look a look at my shoulder and I pulled the armor and clothing away from it. "Looks like it went all the way through." He looked at my back and let out a gasp in surprise. "You have a tattoo and these marks," he started before I cut him off.

"Don't worry about it," my voice was strained.

"Are these from the," Todoroki said with a hushed voice.

"Yes," I nodded. "Don't tell anyone."

"I won't," Todoroki said, placing the bandage on. Once it was secure I fixed my clothes and we went to where Midoriya had Stain tied up."I'll take him."

Midoriya stumbled forward and Native grabbed him. "Here I'll carry you," he said hoisting him onto his back. "You kids are really something."

"We got lucky," I said wrapping Iida's arm with a cloth.

"Yea, we only won because Stain screwed up," Todoroki said as we dragged him out of the alley. "He probably forgot about the time limit on Midoriya and then with Iida's final recipro burst and Midoriya's smash he just couldn't react in time."

"Still, I'm a pro and you guys ended up helping me," Native chuckled. "Thank you."

Once we were out onto the main road he put Midoriya down and we sat Stain on the curb. "Hey!" An old man in a yellow costume came running around the corner.

"Gran Torino?!" Midoriya exclaimed as the old man came charging forward. He kicked Midoriya right in the face.

"I told you to stay on the train!" Gran Torino scolded him. He glanced between us and at Stain. "I don't know what happened here but I'm glad to see you alive."

"How did you find us?" Midoriya asked as other pros began to show up.

"Endeavor told me where to find you guys," Gran Torino explained. "He is still fighting those Nomu."

"Shichi, Midoriya, Todoroki," Iida said bowing to us. "I'm sorry, I was blind and lost sight of everything."

"I'm sorry too," Midoriya said. "I'm supposed to be your friend and I didn't know there was something wrong."

"It's okay Iida," I said, giving him a cheerful smile. "Sometimes lessons have to be learned through actions."

Tears began to form in Iida's eyes. "Get it together," Todoroki said. "You're the class rep after all."

Our moment of happiness was cut short when a flying Nomu came around the corner. It reached out with its legs and grabbed me with one and Midoriya with the other. It's talons digging into my sides. The pros began to cry out about how they had to save us before it got too high. There was nothing I could do, with Midoriya being this close to me.

"This sham-filled society," Stain broke free of his bindings and licked the Nomu's blood off the cheek of a pro. It began to drop to the ground. "And the criminals who use their power for petty mischief are all my targets!" He said as he jumped up, grabbed me, stabbed the Nomu in the brain, and then grabbed Midoriya. We went down together, Midoriya and I both paralyzed at what just happened. "This is all the sake for a better society."

"Be careful he might take the kids hostage!" A pro called out.

"It came this way!" Endeavor came running around the corner. "What are you looking at?" That's when he saw Stain standing above Midoriya and I.  "Hero Killer!"

"Todoroki wait!" Gran Torino called out to stop him.

Stain glared over his shoulder before turning to face him. "Endeavor, just another fake! If I don't fix it, if someone isn't stained with blood, if I don't reclaim the title of 'hero'. Go ahead and try me you fakes!" He stepped towards the pros. His words shook me to the very core of my being. "The only one who can kill me is All Might! A true hero!"

Both Iida and Todoroki, along with some of the other pros, collapsed in fear when Stain stopped moving. He was out cold, standing before us. He didn't lick anyone's blood but he was still prepared to stand against us all for his beliefs. This was what made him truly terrifying. They looked him over and realized one of his broken ribs punctured a lung.

They took Midoriya, Iida, Todoroki, and I to Hosu general hospital. After they bandaged us up we were put in a room to share. I sat cross-legged on my bed, my side still sore from both Stain and the Nomu. I had two fractured ribs and a number of cuts. None were serious though and I didn't have any nerve damage. Over all I was incredibly lucky.

"It's a miracle we are still alive," Iida said. It seemed like he was thinking the same thing.

"I think he let Shichi, Midoriya, and I live," Todoroki said looking at his bandaged arm. "What's really incredible is that even though he was trying to kill you, you still stood up against him."

"I came to help but in the end I needed saving," Midoriya said.

"We all kinda helped each other," I tapped my chin. "I think we make a really good team. Also it's nice to see that you have a handle on your quirk."

"Gran Torino helped me," Midoriya said.

At that moment Gran Torino, Manual(the pro Iida was working with), and a man with a dog head came into the room. "This is Kenji Tsuragamae, he's the chief of police in Hosu." Gran Torino explained.

When we tried to stand up the chief brought his hand up, "stay seated. You four are the UA students who took on the Hero Killer yes?"

"Yes sir," I nodded, I could tell we were about to get a lecture.

"Stain is currently in treatment for a number of injuries such as broken bones and burns," The chief explained. "In the beginning of quirks, police began to prioritize leadership and to maintain the status quo. They decided that quirks weren't to be used as weapons. That's how the need for professional heroes began. At first it was heavily criticized but eventually it gained support from the public. This was because they acted morally and with in the confines of the law. However those who act without permission, those who inflict harm without permission from the police and higher powers, even if they faced someone like the Hero Killer. That would be against the law. You four as well as pros Endeavor, Gran Torino, and Manual must be dealt with strictly and impartially."

"If we hadn't done something then Iida and Native would be dead!" Todoroki said stepping up to the chief. I could see his agitation on his face. Midoriya tried to stop him but Todoroki wasn't about to let this go. "No one knew the Hero Killer was in town. Should we have just let people die in the name of your precious law?"

"So because everything turned out fine this time we should just forget the law?" The chief asked.

"It's a hero's job to save people!" Todoroki snapped.

"It's clear you still have much to learn," the chief shook his head.

"You damn mutt!" Todoroki was on the verge of yelling.

"Todoroki calm down," I said cooly. We were in the wrong and deserved whatever punishment we had coming.

"She's right," Gran Torino said holding his hands up. "Just listen to what he has to say."

"That's what I'm obligated to say at least," the chief said changing his tone. "The real question is if we should deal with you publically or not. If we let the story out I'm certain you will be praised by the public. However, you won't be able to avoid punishment. If we keep this to ourselves and say that Endeavor took down Stain his burns would support that. He would be the one to receive the rewards and praise. Luckily the amount of witnesses was small and we can hush this whole thing up, but your decisive action and achievements will remain unknown to the public."

"Really?" I asked without thinking.

"I'm an understanding man and I don't want to ruin your future careers," the chief said. He then bowed to us, "I want to personally thank you."

"You could have led with that," Todoroki said, letting out a sigh.

After they left, Midoriya went to call Uraraka to let her know what happened. While he was gone a nurse came in, "Ms. Shichi you have a call from Shota Aizawa. You can come out here to take it."

"Okay," I said quickly. "He's gonna kill me." I groaned as I got up off the bed.

"Do you want me to come with you?" Todoroki asked.

"Nah," I shook my head and went out to take the call. I picked up the phone and brought it to my ear. "Shota?"

"So you took on the Hero Killer?" Shota asked getting straight to the point.

"Not by myself," I said. "Todoroki, Midoriya, and Iida were there too."

"I'm aware of that," Shota said. I couldn't tell just how mad he was. "And your injuries?"

"Nothing serious," I said explaining the ones I had.

"You are incredibly lucky, you know that?" Shota said after a brief pause.

"Yes I know," I said softly.

"Okay, well try and focus on the rest of your internship," Shota sighed. "We will talk about this when you come home."

"Wait really?" I asked surprised.

"Yea," Shota said but I could hear the annoyance in his voice. I would still be in trouble when I got home.

"Thanks Shota," I said before saying my goodbyes. When I went back to the room Midoriya had returned. There was a tension in the air though. "What's wrong?"

"Iida got his diagnosis," Todoroki frowned.

"My left hand could have permanent damage," Iida said. "Both my arms were badly injured but my left got the worst. He severed something called the Brachial Plexus nerve. They said I might regain most of the feeling if I get a nerve transplant. I should have told Manual when I found the Hero Killer. I may hate him but he wasn't wrong. So until I succeed in becoming a true hero I'm going to leave my hand how it is. My left hand will serve as a reminder."

"I feel the same way," Midoriya said looking at his scarred hand. "Let's get stronger together."

"I'm sorry," Todoroki said suddenly. "It seems whenever I'm involved people's hands get messed up. Maybe it's a curse?"

Iida, Midoriya, and I burst out laughing. "What are you talking about Todoroki?" I laughed.

"Who knew Todoroki was such a joker?" Midoriya chuckled.

"I'm not joking," Todoroki said too seriously. "Just call me the 'hand-crusher'."  This only made the three of us laugh even harder.

We chatted together for a while before the nurses came in and released Todoroki and I. We were both not too terribly injured and were allowed to go back to our internships. Todoroki was looking forward to seeing the look on Endeavor's face while I was worried he was going to chastise us. I'm sure he took some sort of punishment for our actions.

Endeavor didn't say as much as a word about the Hero Killer. Instead he had us continue to train and he took us out on patrols. I wasn't able to do much hand to hand combat training since my ribs were still healing but Todoroki didn't think I needed to anyway. I managed to control my temperatures better but I still had a lot of work to do. On the last day of our internship Endeavor brought Todoroki and I into his office. He went over what we should continue to work on, for me it was mostly my fire and my earth.

"Ms. Shichi have you considered a romantic relationship with my Shoto?" Endeavor asked surprising both of us. "I think that you two would be a good match considering your quirk."

"What the hell is your problem?" Todoroki snapped. He was right to be angry but I held a hand up.

"While I'm grateful for everything you have shown me, it's not fair for you to ask me of this." I bit my lip trying to find the right words. "Regardless of my feelings it's not right for you to ask your son of this either. Finding a relationship for him isn't your job. As a father you should support him with whoever he decides to be with. Not just someone who has a strong quirk."

"Shichi," Todoroki stared at me in shock as if no one had ever spoken to his father like this. I gave him a half smile to try and reassure him.

Endeavor paused for a moment thinking through what I said. "Well at least keep the offer in mind. Perhaps it's more than your quirk that will make you a suitable wife for my son." He stood up and opened the door. "I hope we see more of you and I have high expectations for you, Elemental."

Todoroki and I were ushered out of his office and we headed to the train station where we would go home. "Thanks for saying what you said." Todoroki said while we waited.

"Well it was the truth," I scratched my cheek feeling nervous.

"Still thanks," Todoroki smiled at me. "Anyway I'll see you tomorrow in class."

A sense of dread came over me. That's right I still had to deal with Shota. "Sure, if I survive that long," I laughed.

"Well good luck," Todoroki chickled. With that we got on separate trains and headed home. Our exciting internship had finally come to an end.
