Speed and Power

"So tell us what you learned," Shota said after group one from A and B lined up.

Kirishima pulled his mask off and winced, "if my opponent doesnt wanna fight me then my quirk is basically useless. In a real fight I'd be dead meat the second I got caught."

"I need to give my bugs more specific instructions," Koda said timidly.

Kaminari held his thumbs up, "I was awesome right? Go on, feel free to lay on the praise! Don't hold back, show me some love."

"We lost two," Tsu said disapointedly. "I wanted to win with the whole team intact, but it all got chaotic."

Shinso messed with his binding cloth, "After everything I learned, I couldn't even put a fraction of it to use. It's frusterating."

"No one is a pro right out of the gate," Shota pointed out, "it took me six years to master the cloth. Remember that frusteration and use it as motivation."

"Right," Shinso nodded.

"The two who did work studies are quite hard on themselves," Aoyama said.

"Meanwhile Jammingyay doesn't know the meaning of modesty," Jito laughed.

I looked at Kirishima and Tsu, both of them were in the fight against Chisaki and his gang. They knew just as well as I how serious things could get, especially in a fight.

"Kirishima, focus on setting up direct encounters where you get to brawl," Shota instructed. "Koda, as you suggested you need to work on your strategizing. Kaminari, your early game was a mess. Does it really take losing allies before you put your talents to use? Asui, you may have messed up, but you reacted quickly and changed course."

"You all know what I'm going to say right?" Vlad addressed his class. "Was Shishida your central pillar or Shiozaki? If you had better leadership you could've won this!"

"Shiozaki just cant bring herself to decieve others," Monoma added, "failing to take that into consideration costed you."

"I gave our opponents time to strategize, sorry Shiozaki," Shinshida apologized.

"Someone did manage to show us his worth," Monoma turned his head to look at Shinso. "I look forward to our joint battle." He then ran up to Shinso with arms spread wide. "Hey! Lets make a plan that'll really make Class A cry!"

Midoriya tapped on my arm, "we should make a plan of our own."

I nodded in agreement and we grabbed the other girls. "Shinso is going to be a real problem, but I know he's looking forward to his rematch with you, Midoriya."

"Okay, then let's you and I partner up against him, since you train with him, you can cover me incase something happens," Midoriya said after a moment of thought.

"Sounds good to me," I gave a firm nod.

"We should use lots of combo moves," Ashido added.

"Yeah!" Uraraka nodded energetically.

While were brainstorming, the announcement for the second match went off. We turned our attention to who would be next. From Class B it was, Kendo, Kuroiro, Fukidashi, and Komori. From our class it was Momo, Tokoyami, Aoyama, and Hagakure.

The two teams made their way to the arena and soon the match started.

"What kind of role does Kendo play in Class B anyway?" Sero asked.

"Oh!" Tetsutetsu perked up. "She's a lady who gets the job done! She is our class president after all! She's smart as hell and makes quick, level-headed decisions! And she pulls the whole class together with a good attitude. Without her we would've all been sucked into Monoma's orbit. She's basically Class B's big sister!"

"Hm," Shoto wondered, getting my attention. "Quick level headed decisions? If that's the case I wonder if Yaoyorozu's plan will work."

I observed him for a moment before looking up at the screen. Through the piping Dark Shadow came out. "Im not here to scope you out! Im here to take you out!" It exclaimed.

"All yours, Kuroiro!" Kendo exclaimed.

"I'll be back, guys," Kuroiro smirked.

Suddenly Dark Shadow came barreling back to Tokoyami and hit him right in the stomack. Dark Shadow looked conflicted by this action, it clearly wasn't of it's own will.

Kuroiro jumped out of dark shadow and into a pipe above them, as Momo tried to catch him with nets. He popped his head out from the pipe and laughed, "Fumikage Tokoyami, I'm going to wear you like a suit."

I bit my lip nervously, this could be bad for Tokoyami, since Kuroiro could meld with blackness. I was surprised that he was able to take over Dark Shadow though. I continued to watch as Tokoyami ripped off his cloak.

"I shall stand against you with the technique Hawks helped me develop," Tokoyami declared. "Black Fallen Angel!"

"Fallen angel you say?" Kuroiro asked. "Sounds cool, why don't you show me?"

"He's shifting through the shadows!" Momo exclaimed.

"This is just like the last match!" Ojiro pointed out.

"They're messing with our expectations," Shoto said.

I furrowed my brows, they had to have something else in mind, it would be foolish if they pulled the same stunts as the last team did. Tokoyami took a defensive position and everyone kept their eyes on him, waiting for Kuroiro to pop out of the pipes and attack him.

Kurorio finally reached out of the shadows and grabbed someone, however it was Aoyama, not Tokoyami. All of his talk and focus on Tokoyami was just a distraction.

"Helllp!" Aoyama yelled as he was pulled along by his cape.

Tokoyami took off after him, using Dark Shadow to fly. I was in awe seeing how Dark Shadow wrapped its arms around Tokiyami to lift him up. The claws really did give the illusion of black angel wings. His cloak covered most of Dark Shadow's body as well.

"He's flying?!" Some people from Class B exclaimed.

Tokoyami grabbed Ayoama and at Momo's command he began to use his naval laser, sending bursts of light all over. The whole area brightened up and Kurorio popped out of a shadow. Hagakure went into grab him when suddenly a mushroom sprouted on Momo's nose.

Mushrooms began to sprout all over the area and over my classmates as Komori used her quirk. The fungi spread and Kuroiro vanished, hiding somewhere among the shrooms. Komori walked around and sprayed the various types of mushrooms to help them grow.

"Hm, they can even sprout from people's bodies," I said aloud while observing.

"Don't worry, they vanish in two to three hours," Awase said, "so she's not so scary."

"I see," I nodded, still intrigued.

As Momo tried to get everyone to regroup a large wall of letters reading, "Crash! Boom Whamabam!" Seperated her from the rest of the group. We were all surprised by the scale of Fukidashi's quirk. I knew that he could bring onomatopeia to life, but i never expeted a giant wall like that.

Fukidashi next made a noise to make a humidifier. The mushrooms began to grow even more out of control. My classmates weren't as worried about him, they were more worried that Momo had been seperated from everyone else.

Kendo went to attack Momo from behind, however she was quick enough to creat a shield to block the big hand. Momo was still knocked back and Kendo didn't give her much chance to recover. She began to pummel Momo while she kept up to make shields.

"That's our Kendo!" Tetsutetsu cheered.

"That might not be the best tactic," Shoto said.

"Huh?" Tetsutetsu looked at him confused.

"If she isolated Yaoyorozu because shes wary of her, she may have misread things," Shoto continued. "If they knew the threat Yaoyorozu posed all four of them would've teamed up and crushed her right off the bat. Because rising to the challenge is Momo Yaoyorozu's specality."

Instead of watching the screen I was watching Shoto. It never occured to me how much he respected Momo. He must've realized I was staring at him because he turned his head and gave me a smile, making me blush.

I looked back up at the screen to see that Momo had made a cannon, pointed directly at Kendo. There was shock in Kendo's eyes as she looked down the barrel of the cannon, and a nervous look spread over her face. She didn't move, unsure what Momo was going to do.

"She could kill someone with that thing!" Tetsutetsu exclaimed.

Suddenly Momo swung the cannon around, pointing it at the wall. She fired the cannon just as Kendo hit her with her large hands. Momo coughed, trying to get wind back in her lungs as she watched the thing from the cannon go over the wall.

The others were struggling against the mushrooms as well as attacks from Fukidashi and Kuroiro. Aoyama got grabbed again and when Tokoyami went after him, he was attacked by words. Hagakure was no longer invisible as she was covered from head to toe in mushrooms.

They heard the boom and Tokoyami looked up to see a parcel come flying over the wall. He quickly went to get it. It was a lucky bag from Momo. In the bag were goggles and anti fungal spray. Tokoyami put on the goggles and then flew in to tract down the Class B students.

He found Komori and Kuroiro and took them down with his Abyssal Black Body. He captured Kuroiro in his cloak, squishing it into a ball while Dark Shadow held onto Komori. Before they could put them in the cage Tokoyami began to cough violently.

"Sorry, I've been keeping those under wraps, since they aren't as cute," Komori said omniously. "But if we're about to lose then I have no other option. Splitgill shrooms attack the lungs."

"Although she isn't much of a fighter, Komori is one to fear," Monoma said. "He should've knocked her out, guess Tokoyami didn't take his training seriously enough."

On the other side Hagakure was attacking Fukidashi. He wasn't able to keep up with her because he couldn't see her. Without the mushrooms covering her, she was back to being completely invisible. As she went to attack again she was suddenly grabbed by a large hand.

Kendo came around the corner, dragging Momo behing her. Momo was still attached to her cannon and had wrapped ropes around Kendo, binding them together. Momo was unconsious however and Class B was able to capture all of my classmates.

The announcement went off that Class B had won 4-0. Momo and Tokoyami went to see recovery girl for their injuries, while the others came back to the main group.

"They really wrecked the place," Shinso commented.

"That's how training is in the hero course," Shota said. "They went overboard with the destruction though. Kendo, Fukidashi! You should know to keep damage to a minimum!" he scolded them. He then turned to Vlad. "Maybe we should switch sectors."

"Sure, we can take a breather," Vlad said.

Everyone began to chat about the last match. Midoriya was already taking his notes and muttering to himself. "They've not only grown with their quirks but mentally too, which further enhances their power."

"Writing it all down huh?" Uraraka watched him fondly. "You've grown too Deku."

"I hope so," Midoriya said, still writing.

"You really have," I said, lookin up at the sky. I found myself getting lost in thought, watching the clouds pass by. How much have I grown in the past few months?

"Midoriya!" All Might exclaimed making me jump.

"Yes?"Midoriya turned to look at him.

"Got a minute?" All Might asked, gesturing for them to talk privately.

Midoriya nodded and got up, before going with All Might. I wondered if something happened. Again I looked up at the sky and found myself lost in thought. I had been wanting to work up the courage to confront...him...and find out more about my past. Fear crept in my throat at the thought of seeing him and hearing that chilling voice.

"You look pale," Shoto said, bringing me back.

I met his gaze, "I was just thinking."

"About?" Shoto asked, raising a brow.

I shook my head and offered a smile, "nothing really. You have your match soon."

"Yeah," Shoto said, looking me over. I could see the worry in his eyes.

"I'll be cheering for you," I said taking his hand. I squeezed it and kissed the top of his hand. "Im fine, I promise you. Focus on your match."

Shoto let out a small sigh and brushed his fingers against my cheek, "alright."

We moved to a new arena and the next match was about to start. From Class B it was Tsunotori, Kaibara, Honenuki, and Tetsutestu. They were up against Shoto, Ojiro, Iida, and Shoji. The two groups began to take their positions and I noticed that Shoto looked a little troubled, as if he was thinking of his father.

"I can't help him this time," I whispered to myself. I watched him closly but I also noticed that Iida seemed to be in good spirits. My heart felt a bit lighter knowing they were going to be going together.

Suddenly pipes began to crash and fall from the side Class B was on as Tetsutetsu began to tear through the arena. He was planning to make things into a brawl with a level playing field. Shoto's team spread out before he unleased a massive ice wall, straight at the Class B team.

"Nice," I smiled.

"Hes improved," Uraraka said, "the pile of ice isnt blocking his view."

I nodded proudly while I watched the Class B team look for the other members of Shoto's team. Iida used his speed to rush in, but the ice became soft and squishy. Those who were trapped in the ice were able to easily wiggle out, thanks to Honenuki and his softening quirk.

Ojiro was perched on a pipe, when he saw how things were going he went to make a move. However he lost his footing as the pipe he landed on melted under his weight. Honenuki had prepared and softened the area around them ahead of time.

"I admit that's pretty smart," I said.

"Did he improvise that, or is he just that good at predicting?" Sato wondered. "I guess they dont call him flexible for nothing."

Kaibara went to attack Ojiro, making his arms spin like drills. Ojiro blocked with his tail. When Iida went to go help his teammate, he lost his footing as well as the pipes completely melted and sucked him into the goo. Turns out Honenuki had softened the ground under the ice as well.

"Are you attempting to end our teamwork?!" Iida exclaimed. "You villains are the embodiment of cunning!"

"He's really getting into the role play isnt he?" Shinso commented, making me giggle.

Suddenly, horns came flying out of the pipes, where Shoto and Shoji were. The horns latched onto Shoji's shoulders and sent him flying backwards. While Shoto had his attention on Shoji, Tetsutetsu came flying in, also attached to Tsunotori's horns. He crashed through the ice and grabbed Shoto by his arm and face.

"You and your stupid ice, also so freaking cold! You're freezing my steel butt off, Todoroki! So I'm coming at you barehanded, okay?!" Tetsutetsu declared. "Think you can take me on?"

"Tetsutetsu learned from my mistakes," Kirishima said.

"Nah, I doubt he's thinking that hard," Kaminari said. "Honenuki is the one running the show."

Iida watched helplessly as his teammates were being attacked. Shoto was slammed against a pipe. Ojiro was still fending off Kaibara and his drill arms. And Tsunotori had Shoji pinned against the wall.

"You jerk," Iida said.

"Sorry," Honenuki replied, touching the gound to make it hard again. "Recipro's on a timer right? You probably shouldn't have used it at the start. Anyway, I'd better back up Tetsutetsu."

"A timer?" Iida asked. "Who told you that Mudman? Ingenium is always ready to run wherever, whenever! These legs get the job done and I've been on full throttle the whole time." He begen to cut through the ice as he went into turbo.

Since he upgraded his engines he can now make Recipro Burst last ten minutes. It seemed like he still had a bit of a hard time controlling this new speed, but he continued to attack Honenuki. Just as he went to finish it, Honenuki jumped into the ice and vanished. When Iida went to follow the ice had returned to being solid.

Meanwhile Ojiro was still locked in battle. However he was fighting in such an ordinary manner. The rest of my class picked up on this and began to chatter about how he hadn't changed. I bit my lip and watched as Ojiro was being contonuously attacked, without any room to breathe. None of Ojiro's attacked did anything against the incoming drills.

Just when it seemed like Ojiro was going down, Iida swooped in and grabbed Kaibara and began to run him to the cage. He told Ojiro to go support Shoto before he left. While running Kaibara tried to spin to get out of Iida's grip, but Iida held firm.

Shoto was still trying to use ice to fend off Tetsutetsu, however each time, Tetsutetsu just smashed through. I wondered what Shoto's plan was and why he wasn't using his fire. I looked on nervously as my classmates wondered the same thing.

"That ice ain't doing squat," Katsuki said with an amused grin. "But he keeps trying it, what a rookie move."

As Tetsutetsu broke through Shoto's defense yet again, he finally switched to a wall of flames. Tsunotori retreated from the heat, releasing Shoji who went after her at Shoto's request. Shoto turned his attention back ahead of him, hoping that Tetsutetsu would've retreated as well. However, the steel man waled through the flames, now red hot.

Tetsutetsu grabbed Shoto by his shirt and drew his arm back. "You ever train in a furnace?! Half n' half can't put a dent in me! I've steeled myself like this, bulldozing past my limits!"

"Shoto!" I jumped.

"Just gotta keep pounding away until you are out cold!" Tetsutetsu yelled.

"Aw, crap," Shoto said as he covered his face with a hand. He was pinned with no place to go.

Tetsutetsu brought his arm down to hit Shoto and I sucked in air. I said a silent prayer in my head, willing Shoto to do something.

"Get back," Shoto said as he caught fire. "Unless you want to melt."

Shoto's flames burned hotter and brighter until Tetsutetsu let him go and jumped back. The camera's that were around him went dead due to the massive amount of heat and we weren't able to see what was happening.

I could feel him, through my fire quirk. His heat was intense, I could tell it was burning from passion. He was going to show the person he wanted to be. Midoriya looked at me and noticed my eyes were red as I concentrated on Shoto. I could feel that he had started to fight again with Tetsutetsu. I held my hands to my chest, he could do this, I just knew it. My eyes turned bsck to grey and I lost the connection with Shoto's flames. I gave Midoriya a small smile before looking at the screen.

Shoji and Tsunotori were engaged in combat. He was trying to grab her with his arms while she was attacking with her floating horns. She sent a barrage of horns to attack him, but he broke them all. One came flying from behing Shoji and she wore a smug expression thinking she got him, until he grabbed the horn with a hand. He had an eye watching his back. While she was surprised, Ojiro came in and smacked her with his tail.

Ojiro held her by her horns and with his tail. As they were planning on locking up Tsunotori and going back to assist Shoto, they began to sink into the ground. They turned to see Honenuki poke his head out of the ground. Shoji and Ojiro continued to sink further into the ground. Shoji began to extend arms so he could escape.

Ojiro was becoming overwhelmed, trying to keep his grip on Tsunotori while also fighting the ground. He gave in and began to spin rapidly, smacking the ground back with his tail. This allowed him to break free. He quickly grabbed Tsunotori and Shoji pulled him back up.

I looked to see how Shoto was doing againt Tetsutetsu since some camera's had come back online. Honenuki had gone to assist Tetsutetsu, as the ground under Shoto completely gave way. A pipe came down and hit Shoto on the head, knocking him down. The heat began to die as he started to lose consciousness.

Before Honenuki could harden Shoto in place, he was suddenly kicked upside the head by Iida. He sped in and rescued Shoto before taking off, leaving Honenuki on the ground with Tetsutetsu who was steaming.

"Take this to heart villains!" Iida called as he ran. "The rescue takes top priority."

Honenuki forced himself up and touched a silo next to him, making it's foundations soft. "Push it down Tetsutetsu!" He yelled. He also made the ground soft to make it harder for Iida to run.

Tetsutetsu mustered his final strength to push the heavy silo down. Iida turned his head to see it coming crashing down. He tried to pick up speed but the ground was too soft. Just before it collapsed on him he tossed Shoto so he wouldn't get caught in it.

All four of them went down unable to move. Iida was the only one who remained conscious but he was trapped under a massive pile of dirt. While they were unconscious they were still technically in the game, since they hadn't been thrown in jail.

In that time that Ojiro lost his grip on her, Tsunotori had sent two horns out. The shot out from the ground and stabbed Ojiro's tail. Despite the pain he maintained his hold. However two more horns came from the side and caught him by surprise. They grabbed him by his clothes and flew him all the way to the Class B. Ojiro was captured.

We were one to one with Class B. Iida had captured one of theirs and they had captured one of ours. Tsunotori grabbed Shoto, Tetsutetsu, and Honenuki with a horn. She brought Shoto back to her and held him in her arms as she used a horn to lift herself into the sky. She had her horns bring her friends with her. She was going to run out the clock, knowing she couldn't beat Shoji.

Match three ended in a draw.
