Moving Forward

I bit my lip in thought as Ectoplasm wrote an equation on the board. "This isn't an elegant problem, but who can solve this definite integral?" Ectoplasm asked us.

Midoriya quickly raised his hand. When Ectoplasm called on him he said, "107/14?" I looked down at my own answer which was way off.

"Incorrect," Ectoplasm said. "Yaoyorozu?"

"107/28!" Momo said confidently.

"Correct," Ectoplasm said moving on to the next problem.

I looked over at Shoto who was paying attention to his own paper. When he looked up at me I gave him a nervous smile. I would need to ask him for help later. It was apparent that I needed to study more. Finally once class was over I laid my head on my desk with a sigh.

"Are you okay?" Shoto asked me.

"Yeah, just need more work on math," I said looking over at him.

"Do you want to study together?" Shoto asked.

"Sure," I smiled at him. I stood up and both of us made towards Midoriya so we could have lunch.

"Deku!" Uraraka exclaimed walking over. "That was fierce!"

"O-oh!" Midoriya stammered.

"Putting effort into your studies is admirable!" Iida said, hand extended in an Iida like fashion. "We should recharge with some of Lunch Rush's cooking. Shichi and Todoroki, will you be joining us?"

"Sure," I nodded, lightly touching Shoto's hand. He looked down at me and smiled. "Midoriya you're coming too right?"

"Yeah, I'm starving," he nodded.

Suddenly Aoyama appeared from nowhere and placed something in Midoriya's mouth. "Have some cheese!"

Midoriya had a shocked and confused look on his face, much like the rest of us. "Huh?" He said with his mouth full.

"It's pont l'évêque!" Ayoama said with a flourish of his arm. "Mild and easy on the palate. Would you like another?"

"Hang on I'm still chewing!" Midoriya waved his arms frantically.

"Ayoama, would you like to join us for lunch?" I offered, trying to hide my laughter.

"Yes, I've noticed you mostly eat alone correct?" Iida added.

"Non," Ayoama shook his head. "The cafeteria food doesn't suit my tastes." He turned dramatically and went back to his desk where he pulled out an elegant meal.

"Well to each his own," Iida nodded. "We won't pressure you. Enjoy yourself."

With that said we all went to lunch. The rest of the day went by relatively quickly. After class was over Shoto helped me with my math studies. After I was so tired from all the math problems I went straight to bed.

At some point in the middle of the night I heard someone knocking on my door. Groggy, I got up and opened it. "Midoriya?" I asked, rubbing my eyes.

"Hey, by any chance you didn't tell anyone about my quirk right?" Midoriya asked, slightly panicked.

"No why?" I asked.

"Ayoama was just on my balcony. He left me a note saying, 'I know.' I can't think of anything else it could be!" Midoriya explained.

"Weird," I commented. "But, I didn't say anything to anyone. Katsuki knows too right? Well I doubt he would mention it either. Maybe Aoyama knows about something else."

"Like what?" Midoriya asked.

"I don't know, but can we talk about this in the morning?" I asked, sleepily.

"Yeah," Midoriya nodded before making his way back to his room. Once he was gone I closed the door and promptly went back to bed.

The next day while we were grabbing our costume cases, Kaminari came up to me. "Hey Shichi, did you read this? Mount Lady and Edgeshot are teaming up along with Kamui Woods."

"Oh wow, that's cool!" I said looking at the article he had on his phone.

"Oh yeah, I heard about that," Jiro said. "They are calling themselves The Lurkers. There have been rumors for a while."

"We should team up when we are pros too!" Ashido chimed in. "Uraraka, you can make me float and I can make acid rain! Oh and Sero, you can control me with your tape while Koda, Jiro, and Shoji run reconnaissance. We could be called Team Rainy Day!"

"Hey what about me?" Kaminari asked.

"Hmm, no thanks," Ashido waved a hand.

"Personalities are also a big part of it," Uraraka spoke up. "You know who would make a great team? Todoroki and Shichi!"

"Oh yeah you two are dating huh?" Kaminari grinned.

I could feel myself becoming red, luckily I was saved by Iida. "It's time to get changed everyone!"

When we got to the gym, Cementoss spoke up. "Today's assignment is to keep working on your ultimate moves. The previous bench mark was to create two ultimate moves. Those who haven't done so will keep trying while those who have will work on improving their existing ones."

Kirishima made his entire body harden as he smashed his fists together. I could tell he was pumped up. "I gotta train until I can take on attacks as strong as Rappa's!" he exclaimed. "So Bakugo, Sato, Midoriya! Make me into your personal punching bag!"

"Come on man!" Sato scratched his head.

"Sorry, I was hoping to work with Shichi on some stuff," Midoriya told him. He looked at me and I gave a small nod.

"Hey," Katsuki bumped into Midoriya. "Have you made any progress?"

Midoriya hung his head, "no."

"Not at all?" Katsuki furrowed his brows. "How are you planning to surpass me then?" He asked before walking off to Kirishima.

Midoriya looked at me for a moment before Aoyama caught his attention. I gave him an understanding look before hopping up on one of the higher tiers. Ectoplasm had a clone waiting for me.

"So which move should we work on?" Ectoplasm asked me.

"I think something with water," I said after a moment. "I'm thinking about working on my water whip with one hand while controlling fire with the other."

"Alright," Ectoplasm nodded approvingly.

I opened my three water bottles and pulled out water. I wrapped it around my hand while I let out a stream of blue fire with my other. Once I was ready Ectoplasm and I began to engage in combat. I thought about my fight with Chisaki and tried to install the things I had learned from that fight. I noticed that my reaction times had improved as well. Ectoplasm asked me if I could revert back to the orange flames but I shook my head. Somehow they had turned blue and stayed that way. Overall, I was able to work on and improve a couple of my ultimate moves.

Once day before class I walked in to see Ashido showing off some dance moves. I went over to Midoriya who was jotting notes in his notebook. "I see, her impressive command over her body comes from dancing," he muttered. "She's really putting her whole body into it."

"I'll never forget how she burned my cape in our first training battle," Aoyama commented.

"I wonder if I could do it too?" Midoriya rubbed his chin.

"You could ask her to teach you," I suggested.

"Yeah boyyy!" Ashido grinned and danced over to Midoriya. "Let's dance!"

"Al-alright," Midoriya said slightly frazzled.

I chuckled watching him and Aoyama dance along with Ashido. "It's cool when your hobby works with hero work."

"Kinda like Sato and his sweets," Kaminari nodded. "Hey, Jiro, what are your hobbies?"

"Knock it off," Jiro shrugged him off.

"Your room was like a musical instrument store. I'd say that's way more than a hobby," Kaminari continued.

"Can we just forget the king of the rooms thing?" Jiro groaned.

"Nope, yours is a pros room for sure!" Kaminari exclaimed.

Jiro shot her earphone jack at Kaminari, stopping short of his face. "I said stop," she warned before going to her seat.

"King of the rooms?" I asked, glancing at the others.

"That's right you missed it huh?" Momo tapped her chin.

"I bet Todoroki has seen your room," Kaminari teased, making me blush.

"Take your seats everyone!" Iida commanded. "Class is starting!"

Once class started Shota began to put his sleeping bag on. "It's school festival time," he said, cutting straight to the point. Everyone in the class gave an excited cheer before being quieted down.

"Mr. Aizawa," Asui raised her hand. "What about visiting Eri?"

"We will talk about that later," Shota said. "For now let's focus on the festival."

"For real?" Kirishima asked. "Despite everything that's going on in the world?"

"You've changed Kirishima," someone commented. "Wait though!" Someone else interjected. "He's right, even though all those villains are rampaging?"

Shota quieted them down. "That's a prudent point of view. But remember, UA consists of more than just the hero course. The sports festival is where the hero course has its chance to shine. So the school festival highlights everyone else. This doesn't get the same level of attention but it's meant to be a fun event for the rest of the school. Not to mention the new dorm system that started with the hero course is a source of stress for many."

"Well when you put it that way..." Kirishima scratched his head. "Yeah it wouldn't be fair for them."

"Right," Shota nodded. "That's why we can't simply cancel this event. However this won't be like in the past. It'll only be open to students, staff, and a small group of outsiders. We aren't competing for the spotlight this time but each class will have an exhibition of some kind. Today you'll be deciding what that is."

Both Iida and Momo went up to the front of the room. "I, Tenya Iida, president of class A, will be leading this discussion. Let's work together to make it as smooth as possible. First suggestions, those with ideas please raise your hands."

Suddenly the class erupted, everyone trying to get their ideas in all at once. Finally Iida and Momo were able to call for order. Kaminari was the first to raise his hand. "How about a maid cafe?" he suggested and Momo wrote it down.

"A mochi stand!" Uraraka said.

"How about an art gallery?" I added.

"Arm wrestling contest!" Kirishima exclaimed.

"A haunted house!" Hagakure chimed.

"Let's do a crepe stall!" Sato said.

"Dance!" Ashido said, energetically.

"My very own sparkling show," Ayoama said with a wink.

"Open mic comedy?" Jiro wondered.

Eventually we all got our ideas on the board. "Okay, here is what we have," Momo said. "Maid Cafe, Arm Wrestling Contest, Haunted House, Mochi Stall, Art Gallery, Banquet of Darkness, Dance, Open Mic Comedy, Presentation on Hometown History, Deathmatch, Petting Zoo, Takoyaki Stall, Asain Cafe, Martial Arts Demo, Study Party, Hero Quiz Show, Handmade Soba Noodle Stall, My Very Own Sparkling Show, Frog Choir, and a Crepe Stall."

"Everyone has given a suggestion," Iida nodded approvingly.

"Let's erase the unreasonable, unfeasable, and non-specific ones," Momo said getting rid of Deathmatch, Banquet of Darkness, and My Very Own Sparkling Show.

"Ah!" Aoyama gasped.

"Merciless," Tokoyami sighed.

"You were never going to go with mine!" Katsuki snapped.

Iida's Hometown History was shot down as well for being too boring. Momo's study party was as well since we always have study parties. Someone suggested combining all the food options into one however it was pointed out that soba and crepes don't exactly go together. After that things got out of hand as no one could come to an agreement. Soon the bell rang signaling the end of class.

"What a sloppy meeting," Shota said rolling up his sleeping bag. "Better decide by morning though because otherwise we'll be doing a regular class open house."

With that ominous message the day was over, except those of us from the work study group. The six of us agreed that we would be fine with whatever the rest of the class decided to do. After our extra lesson was over Shota said he had an update on Eri.

"Eri wants to see Midoriya and Kanna, along with Togata," Shota said. "It's the very first request she's had since being admitted."

On our next day off Midoriya and I went to the hospital to see the little girl we saved. We met up with Mirio at the hospital. He had a fruit basket with him for her. When we went into the room Eri was sitting on the bed. We all gave her the best smiles we could.

"Sorry we couldn't come sooner," Midoriya said apologetically.

Mirio held up the fruit basket, "what's your favorite? I'm guessing peaches. You look like a peach lover to me."

"Apples," Eri said in a timid voice.

"Apples are delicious," I smiled at her. I quickly cut up an apple and put it on a plate for her.

After a few moments Eri spoke up. "The whole time, even when I had a fever, I was thinking about how you saved me. But I don't know your names. I know Lemillion but not you two." She said, looking at Midoriya and I.

"I'm Izuku Midoriya," he said. "Hero name: Deku! Deku is shorter and easier to remember so you can call me Deku."

"I'm Kanna Shichi," I told her. "My hero name is Elemental."

"What's a hero name?" Eri asked curiously.

"It's like a code name," Midoriya answered.

"Okay," Eri nodded. "Lemillion, Deku, and Elemental. Also the nice man with the glasses. You all got really hurt cause of me."

They hadn't told Eri about Nighteye. It would be too painful to tell her now. Eventually she would probably find out but now just wasn't the time to tell her that.

"It's all my fault," Eri continued. "I'm sorry for causing you so much pain. And it's cause of me that Lemillion lost his power." She grabbed the hem of her dress with her hands. Her head was lowered in shame.

"Eri! Not at all!" Mirio exclaimed. "Not a single person thinks it's your fault. Wanna know what everyone really thinks? We're all happy that you are safe and sound. It doesn't make sense right? Apologizing to people who don't exist. So cheer up. We all fought to see a smile on your face."

Eri gave a surprised look at Mirio before looking to Midoriya and I. We both nodded in agreement to what he had said. She took a deep breath before attempting to smile. She even pulled on her cheeks in an effort. "Sorry, I'm no good at smiling."

That's when it hit me. Chisaki's shadow was still looming over her. She reminded me of me all those years ago. Back when Shota first took me in. I was afraid of every touch and I expected beatings at every turn. It took me a long time before I could smile.

Midoriya jumped up, snapping me out of my thoughts. "Mr. Aizawa, can Eri leave the hospital for a day?"

Shota thought for a moment. "It should be possible. They're working on finding a home for her."

"Can Eri go to the school festival?" Midoriya asked. Mirio and I looked at each other and our faces lit up.

"That's a great idea!" I exclaimed.

"Festival?" Eri tilted her head at us.

"It's a big event we have at school," Mirio explained. "It's a super fun time for students. They put on exhibits, performances, food, ect..."

"They might have candied apples," I said thinking about the different options.

"Candied?" Eri asked.

"You think you like apples now, well they're even sweeter once they get the candy treatment!" Mirio told her.

"Even sweeter?!" Eri began to drool at the thought.

"I'll ask the principal," Shota said pulling out his phone.

"So what do you say, Eri?" Midoriya asled.

Eri paused for a moment. "I was thinking about you guys and how you saved me. You three and everyone else...I wanna be your friend!" I put a hand over my heart and smiled at Eri. Midoriya and Mirio had the same expressions that I did.

"We'll be such good friends you'll get sick of us! I'll keep bugging the principal until he has no choice but to let you come!" Mirio exclaimed. "I'm taking leave from school right now so I can go too. It'll be like a date!"

"What's a date?" Eri asked him.

"It's when a couple goes out and has fun," Mirio explained.

"A couple? What kind of fun?" Eri questioned.

Before Mirio could continue Midoriya told him to stop. The whole situation made me laugh. It was nice to see Eri so excited for something. I couldn't wait for the school festival and to hopefully see a real smile on her face.
