Endurance

The training camp was finally here. We all met at the school were we would be bussed to the campsite. There were two busses waiting, one for class A and one for class B. I met up with my friends and we began casually chatting before Iida called us to get on the bus.

"Oh wow class A," Monoma began, "I heard you guys had some failures. I guess you guys aren't as great as you seem to think." Before he could get much further Kendo smacked him.

I shook my head and climbed on the bus. I sat down next to the window and Todoroki sat down next to me. "Are you nervous about the camp?" He asked.

"Not really," I shrugged. "Are you?"

"No," Todoroki said. "But it should be helpful."

"I agree," I nodded eagerly. We continued to chat casually as the bus headed to the campsite.

About an hour later we stopped. We were ushered off the bus but class B wasn't anywhere to be seen. We began to wonder why we stopped, since this wasn't exactly a rest area. "Don't worry we are here for a reason," Shota assured us.

"Hello!" Two women in cat costumes greeted us, I instantly recognized them as Mandalay and Pixie-Bob from the Wild, Wild Pussycats.

"Good to see you Eraser," Mandalay said. "Kanna you've gotten so big!"

"It's been awhile," Shota said, giving a quick wave.

Midoriya and everyone else seemed to be looking at me strangely. "I've met them before when I was little."

"These are the pros who will be helping out," Shota explained, bringing the attention off me.

"I know you guys!" Midoriya began to gush, "they are a four person team who specializes in mountain rescue! Looks like only two are here now though. They were established 12 years ago!"

"That's enough!" Pixie-Bob put a paw over his mouth to keep him from telling everyone her age. "Now this whole area is our territory so you guys are free to use your quirks. Your lodging is at the base of that mountain over there."

"Why have we stopped half way then?" Uraraka asked.

"Maybe we should get back to the bus," Sero said slowly backing up.

"It's 9:30am now so noon should be the earliest," Pixie-Bob smirked. "Any kitties who don't make it by 12:30pm won't get any lunch."

"Run!" Kirishima shouted as we scrambled to get back to the bus.

Suddenly the ground gave out from underneath us. We were falling off the side of the cliff due to Pixie-Bob's quirk. Like me she could control the earth. "Sorry kids, training has already begun," Shota said as we fell.

"You guys have three hours to make it through the Beast's Forest," Mandalay called down to us.

We stepped into the forest only to be greeted by a huge monster. Koda ran forward and began to use his quirk, anivoice, "Try and be calm, creature, please back down!" Instead of listening to him the monster attacked.

"It's made of dirt!" Midoriya yelled.

I instantly activated my earth quirk and slammed it to the ground where Todoroki, Bakugo, Iida, and Midoriya smashed through it. As we continued forward we encountered more dirt monsters. I was really having to rely on my earth quirk. At one point I got blocked in by two so I took control and smashed them into each other. Another time I used my air quirk making wind blades. It felt like we were never going to make it out. More and more beasts encountered us as we continued forward.

By the time we made it out of the forest it was evening and I was exhausted. My endurance was already higher than when I was in I-Island but this was just too much. I wasn't the only one who was tired, we all were. All of us had exhausted our quirks, pushing them like we never had before. Not to mention we were all tired and hungry.

"It's 5:20pm," Pixie-Bob said as we clustered around them.

"I'm so hungry," Kirishima groaned.

"You said it would only take three hours," Kaminari complained.

"Well that's about how long it would have taken us," Mandalay said. "To be honest we thought it would take you guys much longer."

"You all dealt with my earth beasts well, especially you five," Pixie-Bob said pointing to Todoroki, Midoriya, Bakugo, Iida, and I. "I'm guessing your past experiences allowed you to act without hesitation. Okay it's decided I'm going to make you five my little kittens!" She exclaimed as she began to gush over us.

"I didn't know she was like this," Shota said, watching Pixie-Bob dote on us.

"She's worried about becoming a spinster someday," Mandalay laughed.

"Hey can I ask who that kid is?" Midoriya asked pointing at a young boy standing near Mandalay.

"This is my nephew Kota," Mandalay said.

"Hi I'm Midoriya," he said approaching the kid.

Kota punched Midoriya in the privates, making him keel over in pain. "I can't stand people who want to be heroes."

"Heh, cute kid," Bakugo smirked at Midoriya's pain.

"He's a lot like you," Todoroki retorted.

"Shut up IcyHot!" Bakugo snapped.

"Alright that's enough," Shota said before things got out of hand. "Grab your things off the bus and drop them off in your rooms. After you will have dinner, then a bath, then bed. Tomorrow the real training begins."

"We've made food for you guys," Pixie-Bob said as we walked into the eating area. "But this is just for today so don't get used to it.

I sat down next to Tsu and Uraraka. I was so hungry that I ate in silence. I was surprised that I wasn't as tired as I anticipated I would be. Perhaps my quirk was improving without me realizing it. I thought about how much progress I had made in the past few months. I wanted to go even further though. This was my chance to really build up my endurance and my abilities as well.

Once dinner was finished we were ushered to the bathing area. "Shichi and Midoriya stay behind and help clean up," Shota said and I let out a sigh of relief. I was afraid of showing my skin to the other girls.

"Aw that sucks you two can't relax yet," Ashido said.

"It's okay, I don't mind helping," I said cheerfully.

"I don't either," Midoriya said, he must understand Shota's reasoning and I gave him a silent thanks.

As we began to clean up Shota came up to us, "once you two are done you can bathe and head to bed."

"Okay," Midoriya and I nodded.

"Here we can help you," Mandalay said.

"Thank you," I said.

"How come Kota doesn't like heroes?" Midoriya asked.

"Kota's parents were heroes who died in the line of duty," Mandalay said sadly. "Two years ago they died protecting people from a villain. It was an honorable death but Kota was too young to understand that. To him he was left all alone while society praised his parents. To be honest, I don't think he likes us very much but he doesn't have any other family. To him heroes are nasty people he can't understand."

Neither Midoriya or I had much to say after that. It made sense why Kota wouldn't care for heroes. Maybe one day his mind would change. If he saw someone in action or if his own life was saved. However without those actions he might never care for heroes.

After we were done Midoriya and I went to the hot spring where we could bathe. No one else was there so he and I were alone in our separate baths. There was just a wall in between us so we could still hear each other.

"Thank you Midoriya," I called over to him.

"For what?" He asked confused.

"You could have argued with Shota about why we had to help but you didn't," I said.

"Oh, well it wasn't a big deal," Midoriya laughed. "Besides we got to learn more about Kota."

"That's true," I said. "Poor kid."

"Yea," Midoriya agreed. "I wonder if we can change his mind about heroes."

"Maybe," I replied. "You seem to be good at inspiring people wherever you go."

After we were done we went to our rooms to sleep. All of us girls shared a regular sized room since there were only seven of us. I took my medicine and laid down. As soon as I closed my eyes I fell asleep.

Sleep went too quickly and it felt like I had just gone to sleep before we were woken up. I looked at the clock showing 5:30am. We all groaned sleepily as we put on our gym clothes and headed out to begin our training.

"Morning everyone," Shota said. "Today is when the real training starts. You should emerge from this strong enough to get your provisional licenses. Also there is a growing hostile force out there and this will prepare you to face it."

Shota grabbed a ball and tossed it to Bakugo. "This is the same one from the strength trials," Bakugo said when he caught it.

Shota nodded, "when school started your record was 705.2 meters. Let's see how much you've improved."

"GO TO HELL!" Bakugo yelled as he threw the ball.

Shota showed his phone displaying, 709.6m. "You all have been through a lot in the past three months. However only your minds and techniques have matured. Your quirks haven't kept up with the pace. Starting today you will improve quirks. It's going to be so harsh that you will wish you were dead. So do your best to stay alive."

We were split up into different groups and told how we could improve our quirks. Shota led me to an area not too far from where Bakugo was plunging his hands in water before making huge explosions. In front of me was a water fountain, a ball, and a rock spiral. Shota let me into the middle of them.

"To improve your endurance and your quirks you will be doing two at a time," Shota began. "First begin with air and earth. With your air quirk I want you to keep this 50lb ball in the air. While you are doing that you will be using your earth quirk to keep the spiral spinning."

"That's it?" I asked raising an eyebrow.

"It may seem easy but eventually you will begin to tire," Shota smirked. "Also we will be upping the weight of the ball. Now for your water and fire quirks. I want you to continuously pull water through the fountain while making a steady stream of fire. Switch elements every 15 minutes."

"Alright," I nodded. I activated both my air quirk and earth quirk. I made bursts of air to keep the ball aloft and I made the spiral spin.

By the time 15 minutes was up I was beginning to feel it. The ball hit the ground with a thud and I switched to fire and water. The fountain was more intricate than I thought and pulling the water through was becoming more and more difficult. Having to think about that while maintaining a steady stream of flames was proving to be difficult. Every now and then Shota would come and check up on me but I was too focused on what I was doing to respond to him. After a couple hours he brought over a 60lb ball for me.

"Why?" I panted, taking a small break.

"Eventually flight will be an option for you," Shota said. "However you need to build up the amount of weight you can handle in increments."

"Ugh, fine," I groaned. After that I continued with my exercises.

At some point I realized class B had joined us and they too were working on their quirks. When evening rolled around all 40 of us were exhausted. Pixie-Bob informed us that we would have to make our own food.

"Shichi is a really good cook!" Uraraka said. "Maybe she can show us what to do!"

"Sure why not," I nodded and began teaching them how to make curry. We all worked together and while it wasn't the most amazing curry it was still quite good.

"Shichi I never noticed before but you eyes turn two different colors when you are using your quirk," Kirishima said in between bites of food. "That's really cool."

"Thanks," I laughed. "I saw you and Ojiro fighting each other."

"Yea with his hardening I can practice using my tail more," Ojiro said. "At the same time he benefits by having to keep his quirk going."

"You look pretty rough, Midoriya," I said, turning to him.

"Tiger has us power types doing a lot more physical stuff, fighting and building muscle," Midoriya explained.

The next day we began training bright and early again. Shota upped my weighted ball to 70lbs. When we tried 80lbs it proved to be too much so we kept it at 70 for today. The morning flew by and after lunch Shota came up to me. He was holding a slender pole.

"Here this is for you," Shota held the pole out for me.

"A stick?" I asked looking it over.

"It's not a stick," Shota sighed. "It's a glider. I had the support class make it for you." He pressed a button on the side and two wings appeared in the front and two smaller ones came out of the rear. "This will help you fly without needing to support your full weight."

"Is this why you've been progressing the weight so quickly?" I asked taking the glider. It was lighter than I expected.

"Yes," Shota nodded. "As long as you can control the air flow around you, you shouldn't have a problem."

"I see," I said. "Are you sure about this?"

"Absolutely," Shota nodded. "Alright let's test it out."

I gripped the handles and jumped high into the air with my air quirk. As I fell I tucked my feet onto the foot pads. I gave myself a burst of air and the sails caught it. Before long I began to control the flow and I began to glide. I couldn't help but smile as the wind blew through my hair. This was simply amazing!

While I was distracted, I accidently lost control of the current. I was beginning to crash and I didn't know how to land. "Look out!" I shouted, trying to pull up on the glider.

"Huh?" Midoriya looked up at me and I crashed right into him. Both of us bounced off the ground a couple times before landing in a glider mixed heap.

"HAHAHA!" Monoma began laughing at us. "Wow Shichi nice job controlling your quirk!"

"Shut up!" I snapped and pulled on the earth under his feet. He lost his footing and fell on his rear, making him promptly stop laughing. "Are you okay?" I asked climbing off Midoriya.

"Yeah I think so," Midoriya blinked rapidly. "Where did you even come from?"

"The sky," I laughed, "crap I hope I didn't break the glider."

I picked it up and inspected it. It seemed fine, whoever designed it did a great job making it sturdy. "That wasn't too bad for your first round," Shota said. "Go ahead and try again."

"Right!" I nodded and back into the air I went.

After dinner we changed into casual clothing. I tossed on a pair of blue capris and a light grey t-shirt. It was nice to get out of our gym clothes. Especially since they had a fun test of courage planned for us.

"Yay it's time for our reward!" Ashido cheered.

"A break will be so nice!" Sero joined in with her.

"Sorry remedial group, you guys are with me this evening," Shota said dragging the five of them off.

"Alright kittens!" Pixie-Bob called out. "To start class B will be on the offensive as our scarers. You guys will head into the forest in teams of two, one every three minutes. It should only take about 15 minutes from start to finish. You will find name cards at the mid-way point. Grab yours and head back."

"The scarers aren't allowed to make direct contact but they can use their quirks," Mandalay explained. "So be sure to get creative! Now we will draw lots."

After drawing this is how the teams ended up:
1. Shoji and Tokoyami
2. Bakugo and Shichi
3. Jiro and Todoroki
4. Aoyama and Yaoyorozu
5. Asui and Uraraka
6. Ojiro and Hagakure
7. Koda and Iida
8. Midoriya

Bakugo and I both looked at each other before quickly looking away. Great I had to do a test of courage with the scariest boy in class. For some reason I was wishing I was on a team with Todoroki. At that thought my face began to blush and Bakugo looked at me strangely.

"What's with you, Snowflake?" Bakugo growled.

"Nothing!" I said quickly.

Shoji and Tokoyami went in first and three minutes later Bakugo and I went in. We stayed quiet for a little bit, just slowly walking through the darkened forest. It seemed uncomfortably quiet.

"Hey," Bakugo said catching me by surprise. "I want to say sorry."

"For what?" I tilted my head up at him.

"That time in the special class when you slapped me," Bakugo said. "So, sorry."

"Oh," I blinked in surprise.

As we took another step a head suddenly appeared out of the ground. Bakugo let out a surprised "Oh." Me on the other hand I yelped and leaned into Bakugo. We quickly moved passed the students from class B who were quietly giggling in the bushes.

"Are you really scared?" Bakugo smirked.

"N-no of course not!" I said trying to be brave.

"Yea sure, idiot," Bakugo snorted.

More students jumped out at us making me squeal in surprise. At one point I grabbed onto Bakugo's arm. I expected him to yell at me but he didn't. Instead he let me hold on to him as he dragged me through the forest. By the time we reached the midpoint to get our name cards from Ragdoll my face was beat red.

"Make sure you protect her, Bakugo," Ragdoll giggled as we headed back to camp.

"Tch, whatever," Bakugo muttered under his breath.

It was only about 12 minutes since we had begun and I noticed a burning smell in the air. I turned around and saw black smoke rising above the tree line. It didn't seem natural, it must have come from someone's quirk. The only fire users were Todoroki and I. I doubted Todoroki would lose control of his quirk. While we were trying to figure out where the fire was a purple haze wafted around us. I immediately activated my air quirk to keep the gas away from us.

"Don't breathe it in!" I told Bakugo.

"No shit," Bakugo retorted. "Can't you just blow it all away?"

"I don't know where it's coming from!" I snapped back. "The other students could be at risk since I don't know where they are either!"

"Tch," Bakugo snapped his head away from me.

"I can at least keep it from us," I said. "We don't know what it'll do if we breathe it in."

"Everyone listen up!" A voice echoed in my mind. It was Mandalay using her quirk. "We are under attack by two villains and there might be more out there! Get back to the camp and if you see an enemy retreat do not engage!"

"Come on, let's hurry," I said pushing further, making sure to keep the gas at bay. How did villains find us here? This place was supposed to be secret. I had a bad feeling about why they might be here.
