Chapter 5: the game station

____________________________________________

After a few seconds Ash felt himself sliding down something smooth. It reminded him of a slide. After a couple of seconds he passed by some lights. They were blue and in a circle, Ash kinda smiled, he let out a "weee!" As he slid down. Soon, he reached the bottom and looked around.

He turned and found more slides leading to here, guess this place had more goof to it then he thought. He turned around and looked over at the door, above it read "the game station" with a train on it as well. Ash tilted his head at that "the game station? What's that?" He murmured curiously to himself.

But, whatever it was, he'd have to open the door. He looked to the left to see a room in there, quickly he ran in without any questions. "The sooner I do this the better... I need to find Poppy and get the fuck out of here" he commented to himself. He looked around and found two poles and receivers.

Great! This'll be a piece of cake. Only, when he shot the hand to the first receiver and hit the pole across from it a gate came up and broke the connection. Ash blinked confused for a second "hu-" he spoke up as he again shot the hand to the receiver and touched the pole. The same thing happened all over again.

"Uhh" Ash said as he shot the hand to the receiver again and went to the second pole, again a gate sprung up and broke the connection. Ash gawked at that "are you- UGH-" He raged out. Now he needs to figure out how to get around this issue. Ash looked around to find anything to help him. He noticed a blue pipe near the first receiver.

He tilted his head, curiously he wandered over to it. He noticed how it was placed, so he decided to test it out. He shot the hand around the pipe as he walked back towards the pole across from the first receiver. Once he touched it the gate came up, but thanks to the pipe the gate didn't cut off the connection.

Ash smiled as he walked under and around the wire to the second pole. Touching it with the wire the second gate came up. Though it did stop him from connecting to the second receiver from across the second pole he walked around again and towards the first pole, going basically around that second gate and shot the second hand to the second receiver.

Instantly the power turned on and there was the sound of electricity in the wires as it powered something on. Ash smiled "that wasn't so hard" he commented to himself as he stepped out of the room. He looked around to see what exactly he powered on. Only a few seconds afterwards, the door to the game station opened up.

Ash stepped in, but he felt his gut turn. He froze as he felt that, there was something that was about to happen; and he knew it. But, he didn't know what it was. He didn't have a choice however, he needed to progress. Ash sighed as he continued forward feeling his gut turning more and more with each step. Soon feeling his heart in his chest, was this the kind of feelings Fell got when they and Davis were on a super dangerous mission?

Ash didn't have time to think about that, he shook his head as he looked up as he grabbed the grab pack. He aimed the red hand at the scanner and shot it. However, when he did something grabbed the hand, stopping it from touching the panel. Ash perked up shocked, then he heard a gasp "a new playmate!" A feminine voice said as she pulled the hand up and off the grab pack.

"Woah hey!" Ash shouted as he turned back seeing the door shut. Just then he heard what sounded like stomping and looked up again "it's been so long" she said as she revealed herself. Ash froze upon seeing this female toy, she was pink and had very long limbs. Ash instantly spoke up "who are you?! And give me back the red hand!" He shouted with anger.

The toy gasped and tilted her head "now that's no way a gentleman like you should act to a lady" she said slightly offended. Ash glared at her "maybe I'd be more friendly if you hadn't taken something of mine!" He told her. She glared at him, Ash spoke up again before he gave her the chance to speak "now answer my question, who are you?" He asked, calming himself down for the sake of answers.

The toy let out this slightly dramatized sigh "if you really don't know who I am then I guess I'll answer you" she began as she smiled at him maniacally "I am Mommy long legs" Ash blinked and tilted his head "like the spider..?" He almost questioned himself. She chuckled and nodded "why yes. You got yourself quite the smart one Poppy..." Ash perked up as she revealed her other hand to see Poppy grasped in it.

Ash perked up "Poppy!" He then looked at Mommy long legs with this snarl "let her go!" He demanded. She looked at him and huffed a laugh "and what fun is that? I mean, letting her go when I just got her" Ash gritted his teeth and shook his head "listen, I don't got time for this, give me Poppy and you'll be free to go" he told her.

She tilted her head "oh? And what makes you think I'll give her up that easily? You'll have to earn her and the train code back" she told him. Ash huffed and grumbled 'great, I must play along with whatever her conditions are...' he thought to himself.

Ash inhaled deeply, holding it in for a few seconds before he exhaled. Looking back up at her calmer now he spoke up "alright then, how do you propose I get Poppy and the train code back?" He asked. Mommy long legs noticed him calmer and perked up, chipper "why, playing a game of course!" She said as she readjusted herself; moving her legs to the opposite walls they previously sat on.

Ash hummed out at that "kinda hard when you have one working eye..." He commented. Mommy long legs chuckled "oh that will be no issue at all" she told him. Ash huffed out as he looked over at Poppy. She held this expression, as if telling him not to do it. She shook her head as her words were muffled.

Ash gave Poppy a reassuring glance, smiling at her as she relaxed in MLL's (short for mommy long legs) hand. He sighed and glanced at MLL "ok, so- if I win this game of yours, you will give me Poppy and the train code?" She nodded "correct, I'll let you and miss Poppy go!" She said cheerfully. Ash grimaced a bit, he knew there was another condition on that.

"If I lose then....." He started as he glanced down, he was gonna regret these words. So much. He looked up and spoke up "if I lose, then I'll stay here.... Forever" he concluded. Poppy muffled out what seemed to be a "no! Don't do it!" MLL held a shocked expression. But, that sorta darken as she smirked "alright then, thats a done deal...." She said as she began to plot too herself.

Ash looked up at her, seeing her expression gave him chills that ran down his spin. She looked at him, smiling sweetly "anywho, thankfully, the game station is still working. Head down to musical memory and Mommy will get things started" Ash nodded at her orders "yes ma'am" he felt weird just calling her by the first part of her name. She blinked "good" she said cheerfully, then her expression darkened as she began to inch closer to him "obey the rules, or I'll tear you apart and eat your insides while you're still alive..."

As she inched closer he stepped back till she and him were faced to face right as she said all of that. Ash felt fear flood his veins as he nodded "y-yes miss" he sputtered out. She smirked as she inhaled, she began to let out a laugh as she scurried up the wall. Ash began to huff and puff, he felt his heart in his chest and felt the sickening turning in his gut

Welp- two things, one he now knows how Fell truly gets with his gut feelings. And two, he just got himself in a mess he cannot escape. Great, this isn't good. But, he had to push through, the door to the game station began opening as he looked ahead, there was another door on the other side. Ash slowly picked himself up as he brushed himself off.

Now he really has to win these games, he and Poppy's life and freedom depends on it. He sighed as he walked through the door. The other side did have another door with a lever next to it. He looked to his left to see a painting of an area with lots of children and a train there, to his right another painting with mascots he didn't recognize there. He shook his head as he walked over to the lever and pulled it.

The door opened up as the building worked to turn on the lights. The lights turned on and he was faced with a massive playground, it baffled him on how huge it was. He stepped in and began to wander around, taking a look at some places. He saw many drawings, some similar to the ones he found in the office and so forth. He didn't have time to lolly gag he needed to play these games and get them over with.

He walked off and towards the panel up front, hearing a buzzer as he inched closer to the panel, he walked over to the lever and pulled it, instantly the intercom powered on and played.

"Hi kids, welcome to the game station! I'm Stella, and we've got three super duper fun games to play." Ash hummed out as he focused up, maybe he might know how to play these games. "These little tests show us just how crazy strong and smart you are, follow Mommy long legs down the stairs and we'll start by playing musical memory. See you in a bit!" Then, the intercom ended. For now maybe.

Then the door to the far left from the way he was facing forward lit up, he perked up and walked away from the panel, he approached the door as it began to open up, to reveal stairs. Ash inhaled sharply as he relaxed his mind, closing his eyes to ease himself. He exhaled as he opened up his eyes and began walking down the stairs.

He walked the halls of the doom that lay ahead for him. When he got to the door, he found it to be barely opened up for him. He looked puzzled at that, could he potentially dip out of this first game?! Maybe not- there was an opening next to him. He grumbled and turned towards that opening and headed on in.

Inside this wall, looked to be an almost behind the scenes type of thing. There was this gate with barrels in it, but he paid no mind to it and walked straight ahead. Walking past abandoned janitorial objects and a latter he got to a cave in on the ground, he looked down in it and hummed out. He jumped in and looked around, he saw a way left and wandered that way.

Once he reached the end, it looked to be a dark place or room. He looked over hearing an alarm, he tilted his head and approached the alarm, noticing a lever. He flipped it and instantly the room lit up. He jumped and looked over and up, he read "molding room". He furrowed his brow in confusion as he looked over to the panel.

He approached it and looked at the blinking red light near the button, instantly one of the machinery filled up with these weird circular things that then melted from some sort of heat. Then, another alarm blared for the second button. He clicked it and allowed it to work, only to find out that a pipe was busted. Ash huffed a bit and shot the grab pack hand over, the hand pulled it back into place as he hit the button again.

Now it worked going through the machine the substance went through, then sprayed into an area. Ash snorted a bit, his mind thought of- something else when he saw that. Ash snorted out even more as he held his mouth to contain his laughter. Ok, now he knows how much he's hung out with Fell if his mind is going into the gutter like that.

Ash looked over and found a green tape on the panel. He blinked "how did I not see that?-" he wondered aloud. He picked it up and looked around seeing a TV to his left. He clicked the next button, only for the machine to again work but not be able to do anything. He looked over to where it occurred and read the letters "no paint in machine".

Ash hummed out as he walked to the TV, letting the other areas light for him later. He slipped the tape in and focused up. The TV static and turned on as music played. Ash read aloud "Green hand" oh, that must be what he's making. Ash hummed out as he continued to read "Shoot Green Power Outlet. To temporarily hold electricity" Ash blinked surprised, well then it looks like he has the power of electricity now.

Ash continued reading "Electric charge lasts for 10 SECONDS, After 10 SECONDS, the charge runs out" ok, ten second timer. Got it "When holding electricity, shoot green hand receivers ...to temporarily power other systems" he nodded at that "They are on the same timer lack of caution may result in injury" Ash let out a "hu-" looks like he needs to be quick with this "Thank you, Use your GrabPack responsibly" Ash nodded as he walked off to his right, to gather what he needed for the machine.

He walked to the entrance of the stairs and climbed them up quickly. Once he reached the top he found a conveyor belt with something at the end. A bucket and the machine. Ash smiled as he wandered over to it and picked it up. He placed it into the machine and the machine took the paint in. Ash hummed and jumped down from the area, letting out an "ouf" as he hit the ground.

He dashed to the panel and clicked the button, the machine went to work and painted the hands over. Once done, the last button beeped, he clicked it as the case above the panel opened up for the green hands to be let free. Ash smiled as he wandered over to them. He grabbed one of the hands and placed it into the GrabPack. Ash smiled "yay! I have a second hand again!" He looked at the green and blue hand and giggled "hey, it's me and Brook!" He said excitedly.

Then his face changed. He felt a pang of sadness and guilt, he wished he had done more to stop Hellflame from sending them away again. He shook his head and felt determination flow through his veins 'don't worry love, I'll be careful and I'll be back before you know it... I hope...' he thought to himself. He looked over and found a green receiver. He smiled and shot the green hand over to it and pulled it back.

He could see electricity on it. Ok, now he needed to act quick, he looked over and found the second receiver for it and shot the hand towards it. Powering the door opened he ran into it not wanting to waste time. He looked back, hearing this warning as if the electricity was running out then broke, the door shut. Ash nodded to himself "great hustle Asher" he said to himself as he walked along and up the conveyor belt, getting some flashbacks of what happened last time he was in one.

He shook his head as reached the end forward, dead end. He hummed and stepped back to see a way right, he walked along and took a weird curve then another right. He was on the other side now. He stepped out and around to see he was on the other side of the gate.

He walked up the stairs as he up seeing a cut out. He walked over and pressed the button "I know when your birthday is. June 28th!" The cut out giggled as he blinked. "Not even remotely close" he murmered out as he sighed. He looked right at the first game he was about to face. He exhaled sharply, he felt anxious going through. But, a sudden rush of assurance flooded him, making him feel calm again.

He had a feeling Fell was feeling his anxiety and sent some reassurance to him. One up side to being blood bound to a monster, it's not done by magic, therefore, it's not blocked from the two. Ash smiled and murmured "thank you brother..." As he stepped into the area. Looking up, he saw empty screens all around him, looking to have been cleaned off just now, or heck- years ago.

The path behind him lowered down, which told him that now there was no turning back. Then, the screens turned on, music played as he focused up "Welcome to Musical Memory! This advanced memory and cognitive recognition test is designed to stimulate several segments of the brain, allowing us to see how quickly and efficiently your brain works." Just as he thought, it was a memory game

He's pretty decent at those, not a master but not very shady on that. He focused up, just so he didn't get lost in his thoughts "A sequence of colors will be shown, and you must recreate the exact sequence using the buttons around you." Ash nodded "alright, sounds like a piece of cake" he murmered.

"Bunzo will slowly lower towards you. When you complete a color pattern correctly, Bunzo will rise back up." Ash blinked "what?-" he spoke up as the instructions continued "When you input a pattern incorrectly, Bunzo will lower towards you faster. If Bunzo reaches you, your test is over. The test will become more difficult as it continues with longer patterns, and quicker succession. That's all. Good luck!"

Ash grumbled slightly, he should've expected this "Oh, isn't it amazing?" Ash jumped as he heard a crash and MLL's voice. He looked over towards her and exhaled "shit- you scared me!" The toy glanced at him "language!" She shouted in this motherly tone. Ash huffed out as she composed herself and continued "Mommy hasn't seen this place up and running in years!" She paused as she seemingly smirked.

"Mommy can only imagine how excited Bunzo must be. It's been such a long time since he's been able to play." Ash looked up and saw Bunzo lowering to his level. "OH WOAH WOAH WOAH!-" he shouted suddenly "To cheer. To eat." Then Bunzo slammed the golden cymbals together. Ash felt his heart pounding "Oh! That's the dinner bell! Good luck." Ash looked up 'what the- dinner bell?! What-' something cut his thoughts off, or rather, someone.

'Asher calm! If you wanna make it out alive you need to stay focused and calm. Breath brother, breath' Ash perked upon hearing Fell's voice, he didn't expect their telepathy to work, though it must be a bit difficult with the magic restrictions. Even if their telepathy isn't powered by magic it can still be restricted. Ash inhaled and exhaled as he stood up 'alright, get this game done and over with...' he noted to himself as the buttons rose up in front of him.

He looked up and focused. "Red" the intercom said, he clicked red hearing the cheering play. Ash huffed, releasing any anxiety that filled him, "red, yellow" instantly he hit the red then the yellow button. The same thing from before happened, Ash smirked, looks like he's got this.

"Red, yellow, red" Ash pressed the called out colors. He could hear Bunzo's golden cymbals every time the patter begun again. It kept him on his toes the whole time. The new color called was green, he repeated the pattern and clicked the green button afterwards. His heart pounded in his chest as the pattern kept repeating itself "red yellow red green blue

Clicking the buttons he passed the round, knowing he did when he heard a separate cheer in the end "round two" the intercom played. How long is this game gonna last?! "Blue" Ash focused up and clicked blue quickly, seeing that the intercom was talking a tad bit faster. Welp- get more serious now

"Blue, green" quickly he pressed the buttons, he wondered how long he had to do this, since games like this never end...

"Blue green green" he clicked the buttons and looked over at the window where Mommy was, she just watched him with anticipation. "Blue green green red" he repeated the process again, hoping there would at least be an end "blue green green red yellow" he exhaled and clicked the buttons again.

Ash smirked, looks like he's got this "blue green green red yellow violet" Ash clicked the first five buttons but looked confused. "Violet?!" He asked nervously, out of instinct he clicked the red and blue button only to hear boos on the intercom and Bunzo's golden cymbals playing faster. Ash panicked hearing the pattern again, he clicked the first five buttons then looked around and found the violet button there.

he clicked it fast and huffed, the drawn out cheering played "well that was a dirty trick-" he muttered to himself. He exhaled as he focused up again "round three" the intercom played "orange" Ash perked a bit, that oddly sounded like 'organ' he shook his head and hit the newly arrived button.

"Orange violet" he pressed the buttons. "Orange violet red" Ash out of reflex and hit the three buttons. Ash felt his blood pulsing in hie ears, every new color brought him anxiety, hearing Bunzo's cymbals inching closer to him. The new color was white, after the first three he hit the white button.

He exhaled, letting his memories of his friends and boyfriend flood his mind to calm him. "Orange violet red white blue" he wasted no time and clicked all the buttons.

"Orange violet red white blue yellow" Ash repeated the pattern quickly. The drawn out cheer played. Ash exhaled as he looked up, seeing Bunzo rise back up again. He could see hunger and anticipation in his eyes.

"Round four"

Ash looked up "blue" Ash nearly hit red but remember it said 'blue' Ash rerouted himself and hit the blue button. "phew-" that was close-" he focused up again "blue J" Ash blinked as he hit the blue button, then looked around for the J. Finding it he clicked it fast. Cheers were sounded again "blue J heart" Ash blinked even more "ok- this is getting ridiculous-" he said as he hit the buttons. Ash was now wondering if he had to get to a certain level before Mommy long legs was satisfied with the game.

"Blue J heart pi" Ash looked around and found pi, quickly he again repeated the pattern for the thousandth time. "Ok- when will this end?-" he murmered to himself looking up, he saw Bunzo continuing to smack his golden cymbals together. "Blue J heart pi smiley face"

Ash sighed as he repeated the pattern and hit the heart symbol. Ash had this 'bruh' face, he thought this would strictly be colors. Oh well- it is what it is. "Blue J heart pi smiley face white" Ash repeated the pattern in the beginning and hit the white button. The cheers played before more buttons appeared. Dumbfounded Ash looked around and saw more colors and symbols.

"Round five"

Ash prepared himself, but then the intercom played many colors and symbols on the screen. Ash looked up shocked "what?!-" he shouted as he hit the buttons, unaware of the button circling around the area he was standing. He shot the GrabPack, hitting the mysterious button, causing everything to freeze up and stop.

Ash jumped and looked up to see Bunzo rising out of his sights. Ash looked between the button and Mommy long legs sputtering out. "I-I I- I'm sorry" he spoke up "I didn't-" he was cut off "oh. It broke. That's no fun..." Ash looked down in shame, it was his fault it did.

"I'm sorry, it was my fault" he admitted. She looked at him, seeing the guilt on his face. She almost softened a bit, she felt that this guy and her shared a common fact. She didn't know what it was yet, but she had a feeling that they did. She sighed catching his attention "don't worry about it. It's been years and it's to be expected"

Ash looked up at her as she shifted in her spot "For doing such a splendid job, Mommy has decided to give you part of the code for the train." Ash perked up "r-really?!" He asked astonished. She nodded at him. He smiled and nodded "Look up." Ash blinked as he looked up, and was shocked to see her hand holding the code over him.

"Take it." She told him. Ash looked back and forth collecting his thoughts about how that was possible. He put it out of his mind for now and reached up, grabbing the code. The hand stretched up and away from him as he looked down at the code, it was four faces.

"Mommy was hoping the game could last a little longer." She said as he looked up. "I gotta admit, it was fun playing the game" Ash said with a bit of fake enthusiasm. He had a feeling she was hiding something from him, but he didn't want to encourage her. She nodded at his statement "It's ok though. Mommy knows other ways to play with you."

She then crawled up and disappeared, Ash blinked, that last statement irked him in a few ways, he did not wanna think about it. Ash walked towards the bridge that would've taken him out of this area, folding the code part and slipping it in his pocket. But the bridge broke causing him to fall. "WOAH!-" he shouted as he shifted himself to slide down instead.

"Ugh- great-" he looked up and around to find another way out. Finding a vent he walked over and investigated it. A handle was on it as he hummed out and shot the hand to it. Holding the trigger he released and held it again to pull the handle to pry the vent open.

After a few seconds the door to the vent was pulled open. Releasing the trigger and pulling the hand back he walked over to it and crouched down, looking into the vents. Thankfully there were lights inside. He sighed and crawled into the vents to see what else lies for him.
