Chapter 2: a tight squeeze
____________________________________________
Ash screamed as he fell through the portal, it seemed to almost never end. That was, until he finally landed down on the ground. Ash grunted out as he slowly picked himself up, he rubbed his head in pain as his vision began to clear up. He looked up and around to see that he was inside of a building.
It looked abandoned and messy. Ash looked around in confusion, it smelled awful; like death itself. 'god- where am I? What happened here?' he wondered to himself. Ash was still kneeled to the floor, so he decided to try to connect to the earth around him, to see if he was alone.
He closed his eyes to concentrate and placed his hands on the floor. But, nothing. He felt nothing, in fact, he wasn't doing what he was trying to do. Ash's eye snapped open as he looked down 'what the- why isn't my magic working?!' he wondered starting to panic.
His mind went blank as the questions flew in his head, why wasn't anything working?! He could still feel his magic, just that– it was being blocked away in a sense. Once that thought crossed his mind, a memory flashed in his head
Flash back
Ash looked up to the many worlds as Galactica presented them to him. He stared in awe of them all, Galaxy chuckled at his enthusiasm "now Asher, pay attention" she called out to him. Ash glanced up at her and nodded. She extended her hand as a presentation flashed in front of them.
Ash focused up and looked as three lines separated the jumble of stars "now Asher, as you can see here, these are all of the galaxy's places into three sections" she pointed to the far right "that is section A, that's where majority of the worlds reside in. Like Asteria for example"
Ash nodded at her, she pointed to the one next to it "this is section B, this is the section Fell's world resides in. All the multiverses and alternate worlds lie" Ash blinked in fascination "so, if I go there I could possibly run into an alternate version of myself?" He asked. She nodded "yeah, but try not to think about that, since the only times you'll go there is for Fell's world. Which, even if they are alternate worlds, they are completely different. I'm gonna have to look into that" (yes, that is part of my undertale AU).
Ash nodded and looked at the last section, he pointed to it "what about that one?" He asked. Galactica looked up at it and grimaced "that is section C, the most dangerous section for us..." She said. Ash glanced at her confused "what do you mean?" He asked.
She sighed and looked at him "section C is a group of worlds that revolve in the horror franchises" she paused as she collected her words together "in this section there's a strange force that blocks any magic from users who use magic, it's a section that I and Hellflame don't even step in to. It can block anyone's powers, no matter their status" she explained to him.
Ash looked up in shock and horror "so... If the Bois and I got sent to one of the worlds there..." He stopped himself. She nodded "you'd have to rely on your wits and raw strength alone, nothing else can help you, though I am able to make special crystals from my blood to get past there and back, it's very limited. It wouldn't be like your stones that can reform after being destroyed, once they open a portal and close, that's it. No do overs" she explained yet again.
Ash nodded "I understand" he replied. She nodded "good, you may inform her Bois about this section if you please, it might come in handy for them to know" she told him. He nodded "thank you madam" he then kneeled to one knee, placing his other hand on his bent knee and placed his fist right between his shoulder and collar bone. (That's how the Bois or past guardians bowed to her).
She nodded "your welcome Asher. Now then, let's head back, the Bois might be wondering what's going on with us" she replied chuckling. Ash chuckled back as he got back on his feet, following Galaxy through a portal she opened up, back to her main home world and house.
Flash back over
Ash perked up in recognition, then his face twisted into shock and horror "oh no... This isn't good!" He murmered out loud as he turned to the doors and tried opening them. Of course, he couldn't open them up. They must be locked well. Ash grumbled, he should've expected this "looks like I've gotta go through" he told himself as he looked forward again.
There seemed to be a front desk, a fading out painting on the wall of something or maybe someone? He didn't know, blue was behind it, there were words that said "WELCOME". Ash hummed out as he approached the desk, he needed to figure out where he was at, and if he recognized the world. It could be something that exists in his world as like a series or a game. Something, it's possible for that to be the case.
Ash looked and walked around the desk, the computer was an old style one and there were no files on the desk. He began opening the drawers to find only empty files, staplers, pencils, and the whatnot. All covered in dust.
Ash sighed nervously, he needed answers and quickly. Then, his eye caught something, it was something green. He walked over, curiosity poking at him, he picked it up and recognized it as a VHS tape. Galaxy had some of these in her home, she basically taught them what it was. Not really all of them, Michael and Ennard knew what they were, most of the others didn't.
He looked around and spotted a VHS player, he hummed and walked over to it. He looked down at the tape and read "Leith Pierre Closing". Ash blinked, did that name right any bells? He didn't know. He shrugged and walked over to the player. He looked at it and flipped it around, making sure it was facing the right way.
He then slipped the tape in as the device read it and began to play. Ash looked up at the screen, a hand looking picture popped up as the TV played "Hi, my name is Leith Pierre and I'm the head of innovation here at the Playtime Co. Toy Factory." Ash blinked. Wait a minute– his thoughts got cut off again as the TV continued to play.
"If you're seeing this, then you're trespassing" Ash froze and made a face "Yeah, we play this little tape on loop whenever we close the factory for the day." Ash puffed his cheek nervously "So trespasser, just to make you aware. While we pride ourselves primarily on our high quality toys and excellent childcare, we also pride ourselves on our security.!" Ash now gave this nervous frisk face "well shit-" he murmered
The tape continued to play "For example, this facility is full of hidden motion triggers which, once set off, will turn on the factory's emergency alarms and directly contact the authorities! And that's one of the more tame aspects of our security system. No spoilers... So, you've got my warning. It's not too late to turn around. I just hope you're certain whatever you're doing is worth it."
Ash looked up at the screen and said "I don't think any of this is worth it–" he saw that the tape stopped playing. Ash began to collect himself again "but wait– "Playtime Co." That rings a bell" he thought out loud. His mind was blank for a while, when he suddenly remembered something.
More flash back
Ash wandered around in the place he owned, Brook who was there was playing a game as he had worked that day. "Babe?–" he paused seeing him playing on the PC. Ash tilted his head and walked over to him. Ash hugged him from behind and rested his chin on his head.
That caused him to jump, he looked up as Ash looked down at him smiling. Brook sighed with relief "Jesus Ash– you scared me" Brook said as he took off the headphones and paused the game. Ash chuckled "sorry, I didn't mean to scare you" he replied.
Brook shook his head "you're fine, did you just get back home?" He asked as he grabbed his arms, rubbing them with his hands. Ash nodded "mhm" he hummed out then looked at the screen "whatcha playing?" He asked.
Brook looked back at the paused screen "oh, I'm playing poppy playtime, where you play as an ex-employee from Playtime Co." He explained. Ash hummed out again "oh cool" he spoke up. Brook chuckled "it's a horror game Ash, I doubt you'd be interested" he told him.
Ash shrugged "maybe, but I would have a guide" he said looking at him. Brook puffed his cheek at him "of course you'd ask me to guide you" Ash chuckled out, which caused Brook to chuckle as well.
Flash back end
Ash froze upon remembering that. He was in Playtime Co. Code word for the world, Poppy playtime. "Ah shit" Ash murmured out loud. He was in poppy playtime, and he has no fucking clue on what to do. To make matters worse, if he dies here, he stays dead. Yeah, the Bois and him in these worlds can permanently die if they aren't careful enough (then again they can die in any world if they aren't careful enough).
Ash began pacing around in the entrance way, he was panicking and trying to keep calm. What can he do?! All he knows is that you play as an ex-employee of playtime Co. Does that mean he looks like that person?! Oh no wait– he doesn't, he'll still looks like himself, of course he would. That was a dumb question.
Ash inhaled sharply and held his breath, if he couldn't go out the front way, then he'd have to go into the factory and face whatever it is he has to face. Hellflame put him into this, now he has to get himself out of it. Ash gripped his fists, he just basically broke his promise to Brook.
But, if he's able to get back home on time without a scratch on him, things should be alright. Right? Ash just shook his head, he didn't have time for this. He looked up to his left and saw a door with what looked to be a coded lock. Well shit, now he's gotta deal with a code.
He walked over to it and saw it to be a bunch of colors. Ash clicked four of them before it gave a sound, as if indicating that the passcode he put in was wrong. Ash grumbled "ugh– do I have to type in many times for it?" He asked himself. He sighed and looked around, seeing another room across from this one. It sounded like there was something in there.
Ash walked across the area and into the other room. There looked to be empty toy boxes everywhere and a train above him. Now, he was shocked at the fact that the train was still moving. God knows how long this place has been abandoned. Actually, Brook said that the player returns ten years later, so that answers that.
Ash looked up at the train. He happened to notice its colors. The colors were green, pink, yellow, and red. He stared at it for a while, before a light bulb flashed over his head. He ran out and across the area to the panel. He quickly put those exact colors down in that order. The door opened up as the sound came from it showing that it was the correct code.
Ash jumped to himself, he was happy to have figured it out on his own. He walked in to see a security office of some sorts, there was another TV with a VHS tape and player in there, but next to it was a window with something inside of it. Ash tilted his head as he picked up the blue tape. He read "Grab Pack Training".
Ash blinked in confusion, a grab pack? Maybe it's an important tool for this place. He shrugged and placed the tape in, the screen started to static before music played and so did the screen, he began to read along. "Tighten The Straps!" He nodded as he kept watching "hold the cannons" then he watched a small demonstration of how it's used "Pull trigger to Fire. Pull again to Retract, Hold to grip onto object"
Ash hummed to himself, he's got a lot to remember. Then he read out "ONLY fire at small objects/handles" Ash blinked a bit, is this hazardous? Just as he wonders that he read out "Do NOT fire at a coworker. This may cause injury" Ash snickered out "well shit, that may cause decapitation" he said out loud.
"Wire is conductive! Use for rewiring!" Ash hummed out, that seems very handy (pun intended?) then, the tape finished up. Ash hummed out and looked at the window. It slowly opened up and the grab pack sat there. Ash kneeled down and picked it up, he looked at the pack up and down.
Ash hummed to himself looking at it 'I best keep this and give it to Brook to look at when I get home' He thought to himself as he spun it around and began to strap it onto himself. He held up the canon in his hand, looking at it curiously. He looked over at a chair and decided to practice.
He aimed for the chair and shot the hand, it grabbed it. He pulled the trigger again and the hand let go and came back to him. He nodded "alright, I can do that" he then pulled and held the trigger. The hand grabbed and stayed, he let go and held it again as the hand and chair came flying to him.
Ash panicked and jumped back, the chair remained in the hand and stayed out. Ash pulled the trigger once more and the hand let go of the chair. Ash blinked and looked at the grab pack "oh I am so keeping this" he murmered to himself. He walked out of the room to the main entrance area, he passed the gateways of some sort to the main door.
He saw a blue hand print on the top of it, he aimed the hand and shot at it. The device scanned the hand, finally after a few seconds the door opened. Ash smiled, but it faded a bit as he looked forward and saw a massive mascot smiling and waving. Ash tilted his head and walked in.
He looked up at the massive mascot and looked down at the panel. He read out loud "Playtime Co. Has designed hundreds of distinct toys, but none connected with people more than that of Huggy Wuggy. Our founder, Elliott Ludwig, aimed to create a toy which could hug you forever! As is always true, Playtime Co.'s 4 step process to creating the most life-like toys was a success!" Ash hummed out at that.
He looked at the pink circle and read out "with a bit of string and polyester, our loveable, blue pal Huggy was brought to life! Huggy Wuggy has gone on to be Playtime Co.'s most popular and best selling toy so far!" Ash blinked and looked up "oh wow, congratulations buddy!" The mascot didn't answer, as Ash expected.
Ash hummed out and walked away over to the next door. He shot the hand up to the panel, but it short circuited and the wire it was connected to static as it went into an electrical room. Ash gave this look as he walked over to the door, he tried opening it but couldn't. Ash cursed under his breath, but then he heard the sound of a key, Ash looked around, seeing where that came from. He saw a glare of light from the moon past the window and looked up.
He saw a key hanging from Huggy's hand, he looked puzzled, how did he get the key? And, where exactly did it come from? Ash frowned in confusion. He shot the hand to the key to grab it (I'm going to include something from a video XD) the hand and key seemingly spazzed out in place. Ash blinked "what the– gimme the key!" He shouted as he pulled the trigger again and got the key in hand.
Ash walked over to the door, he unlocked it and opened the door. Ash looked around for a bit till he got to a panel door, he tilted his head slightly in confusion and opened it up, there was a receiver of some sorts. Ash tilted his head. He remembered the grab pack tutorial tape saying how the grab pack has conductive wires for rewiring.
Ash hummed and shot the hand to the receiver. It lit up, as if showing that it was conducting electricity, Ash looked around and saw a metal pole, he walked back and touched the wire to it. The top lit up as he continued to walk over to the other one he saw. Just then, the area outside lit up. Ash turned around and saw that Huggy was gone. Ash froze, he made a face and thought to himself 'wait- where did Huggy go?!- am I really losing my mind?!'
(For visuals, this is exactly his expression, thank you to Weirdo_2754 for the image ^^)
He laughed to himself as he walked out, looking around. "Uhhh, Huggy?" He called out. Of course, no response Ash looked over at the stand and just hummed. Maybe he was seeing things? It is possible for him to hallucinate in worlds part of the C section area.
Ash sighed as he shook his head, he was getting in and over his head. He shot the hand to the panel above and let it get scanned. Once the door opened he sighed again and walked in. He stepped a few feet forward, then something slithered on the wall and into an opened door. Ash froze, feeling his heart start to pound in his chest.
'what the- what was that?!-' Ash thought to himself as he didn't move. He slowly made his way over as he found the strength to move. He tested out the door across from the cracked open one. And of course, it was locked "of course it had to be the other door..." He murmered to himself.
He stepped around as he walked over to the door, he opened it cautiously and wandered in. He walked slowly along, looking around for any strange things, when a burst of gas from a pipe scared him and caused him to run forward.
Wooh! That's finished, any who, stay tuned for chapter 3: the encounter with Huggy. Until then
Cat~con out!
