CHAPTER NINE

Izzy couldn't believe how popular she and Peter have been since what happened in D.C. Well, more so Elektra and Spider-Man have been getting popular. People have been talking about the two superheroes saving the Academic Decathlon team at the Washington Monument, and it wasn't hard for her to overhear everyone talking about it. They were all over social media. "Hey, Elektra." Zander teases later that morning when she walked down the stairs. She had finished getting ready for the day and was heading to the kitchen to get breakfast. "So, what's it like being a famous superhero now?"

Izzy rolls her eyes but couldn't help the small smile that tugged at her lips. "It's surreal, honestly. And weird. Like, I'm famous but I'm not famous. You know what I mean? It's weird." She chuckles softly, pouring herself a cup of coffee. She added some sugar and creamer before taking a sip, humming in satisfaction. She loved coffee, and it was a good way to wake up in the mornings.

"Yeah, I get it," Zander nods, sipping his coffee. He watches his younger sister for a moment before speaking up again. "You doing okay, Iz? I know yesterday was a lot. It must have been scary."

Izzy pauses, thinking for a moment. Was she okay? She was definitely shaken up by what happened yesterday. She couldn't get the image of the Washington Monument almost collapsing and her friends falling out of her head. And then seeing Peter falling didn't help, either. But she was fine, or at least she thought she was. She was alive and well, and her friends were too. So, that's all that mattered. She nods, giving her brother a small smile. "I'm okay, Zander. I promise."

"Okay, just checking. You know you can talk to us, right? We're always here for you." Zander reassured her, returning her smile.

"I know, Zan. And thanks. I'm really fine. Nothing a little coffee and food can't fix. I'm starving." Izzy muttered, taking another sip of her coffee. She went to the cabinet, grabbing the strawberry poptart box.

"How about I make you some breakfast?" Callum chuckled as he walked into the room.

"This is breakfast." She argued, her voice muffled since she had took a bike bite of the pastry.

Zander chuckles, joining Izzy at the kitchen table with his cinnamon poptart. "Yeah, Cal, let her enjoy her victory breakfast. She earned it after saving lives yesterday."

Izzy grins proudly, eating her poptarts. "Yeah, Cal, listen to our older brother. I'm fine. Now, come join us and have some breakfast."

"You two always gang up on me." Callum complained, though there was a fondness in his tone. He sat down next to Izzy, stealing one of her poptarts and avoiding her swatting hand. He ate it happily, making Izzy glare at him.

"Seriously, dude? Can't get your own poptarts?" Izzy asked him, her tone slightly annoyed.

Callum chuckles and kisses her head. "What's the point of having a little sister when you can't steal her poptarts?"

"Yeah, whatever, you big thief." She rolls her eyes playfully. "You're lucky I love you or I would have fried you for taking my breakfast." She raised her hand, letting blue electricity appear on her fingertips to prove her point.

"Ooh, I'm so scared." Callum teased, grinning at her. He knew she would never hurt him or Zander.

"You should be." Izzy smirked, eating her poptart and letting her powers goaway. They ate their breakfast and talked more, enjoying each other's company. Izzy was glad her brothers were here for her. She couldn't imagine her life without them.

"Hey, you should get going to school." Zander notices the time, his eyes widening. "You're gonna be late."

"Did you forget I have super speed?" Izzy smirks, finishing the rest of her coffee. "I'm fast, I'll make it there on time."

"Still, better get a move on." Callum reminded her, getting up and grabbing his dishes to put in the sink.

Izzy nods, getting up. "Alright, I'll see you guys later. Love you both." She kissed them both on the cheek, grabbing her backpack before she ran off, using her super speed to get to school in time.

"Love you too, kid!" Zander calls after her. He clicks his tongue, glancing at his younger brother. "That girl is something else."

"Yeah, she sure is." Callum agreed, shaking his head with amusement shining in his eyes.

****

The school was buzzing about Elektra and the new hero the Spider-Man. Everyone was talking about how amazing and cool they were. Izzy couldn't help but smile, feeling proud of herself and her friend for saving everyone with Peter's help. It was nice to know people were appreciative of her and Peter's help. They may be famous now, but it felt good to do good things for others. She just hopes they can keep it up and continue to save people.

"Izzy!" A cheerful voice got her attention and she grinned when she saw a familiar blonde heading her way. "No way, you were on the news!" Vivian gasps at her girl best friend. "You and Peter! That was so cool, oh my gosh. My friends are famous. Well, kind of. That was amazing, you guys were amazing." She couldn't stop smiling, her eyes wide and shining with excitement.

Izzy chuckles and hugs Vivian tightly, happy to see her friend again. She missed her when she was gone. "Thanks, Viv. But really, it was nothing. We were just trying to help."

"But you were awesome! I can't believe you and Peter saved those people at the Monument. You guys are amazing." Vivian gushes, her grin still wide. "Seriously, I can't believe I'm best friends with a superhero." She grins, linking her arm with the brunette while they began walking down the hall. "Now I can brag about knowing a superhero. Now come on, let's get to class. We can talk more later."

Izzy smiled, shaking her head with amusement. She couldn't believe how excited Vivian was. She thought it was sweet and adorable. She was a little jealous of her, actually. It must be nice to not have a secret identity and just be able to be a normal teenage girl. She did miss it when she was just a normal person without powers. But she's come to accept her life and the choices she made. And she wouldn't change anything about her life.

As she and Vivian went to class, she hung back to head to her locker to double check if she needed something from there for her next class. "Izzy!" She jumped at sudden hands on her shoulders, but relaxed at hearing Peter's voice.

"Hey, Pete. What's up?" She asked curiously, smiling at him.

"You should go with me, I'm gonna go after those guys." Peter admitted, grinning at her as he stood by her.

"But we're in school." She points out, furrowing her eyebrows. "Pete, we're in trouble for missing the Decathlon debate. And I honestly don't want to get a detention for skipping class. I have a good reputation here. So do you, by the way."

Peter pouts. "But Izzy..."

She covers her eyes at the pout, groaning. "Please don't do that." She hated it when he gave her the pouty, puppy dog eyed look. It was always hard to say no to. And he knew it.

"Do what?" He asked, his pout still in place.

"That. You know, that face." She glares at him while peeking through her fingers at him, making him chuckle. "Look, we can go after the guys later, but right now we should focus on class. Getting good grades. Not getting held back a year 'cause we missed so many classes." She sighed, pulling her hand away and turning to open her locker.

"Come on, Iz. Don't you wanna help me and stop those guys from hurting others?" Peter asked her, leaning against the lockers by her locker.

"Of course, I do. But we should really think about this. We can't just leave school whenever we feel like it. Especially when we're supposed to be in class." She reminds him, looking through her locker and taking some books out. "Let's just stay, okay? We can go after them later. It'll give us more time to prepare and be ready. Okay?"

Peter frowns, still not liking the idea. "Fine, I'll just go without you."

She sighs heavily, not wanting to fight with him. "Peter..."

"No, it's okay, Iz. You stay. I'll handle this on my own." He gave her a small smile, patting her shoulder. "It's okay. I'll see you later."

Izzy watched as Peter walked away, frowning. She felt bad for not helping him, but she didn't want him to get in trouble for skipping school. Or her, for that matter. She hated feeling like she was disappointing him, but she just didn't want him to get in trouble. She didn't know what to do, but she knew that once Peter had his mind set on something, he wasn't going to change it. So, she hoped that everything would be okay and that he wouldn't get into trouble.

****

After school, Izzy was currently laying on her bed, trying to finish some math homework and she absolutely hated it. Math was her worst subject. It was her least favorite. She could never understand any of it. She was just glad she had her brothers to help her through it. Otherwise, she would be screwed.

"Math, why do you hate me so much?" She complains. "When am I ever going to use this in real life?" She huffs, tossing her pencil in frustration. She was getting nowhere with this. "I give up. I can't do this."

"Having a meltdown over math?" Zander's voice causes her to look up, seeing him leaning against the doorway with a smile on his face. He had caught the pencil she threw in the air and tossed it back to her. "Come on, let me help. What are you working on?" He walks over and sits down on her bed next to her, looking over the problem she was struggling with. He pauses, furrowing his eyebrows. "Yeah, okay, you're on your own for this one." He chuckles, patting her shoulder. "You'll figure it out, sis. You got it." He got up, setting her pencil down before heading out.

"Zander!" She yells after him in frustration. "Get back here and help me! I need your help!" She pouts, looking at her math book. She huffs, slamming it closed and setting it aside. "Ugh, this is pointless. Where is Callum when I need him?" She mumbles. Callum was so much better at math than she was. Too bad he wasn't home. She was relieved when her phone rang. She needed a distraction from this stupid homework. "Hello?" She answered, not recognizing the number.

"Hey, Iz, it's me." Peter's voice caused her to grin.

"Pete, literally have never been so glad that you called 'cause I was about to throw my textbook out the window. I'm trying to do my math homework." Izzy chuckled, glad to hear his voice.

Peter chuckles. "Well, you can forget about it. The guys are at the docks and I need your help." He explained.

Izzy frowns, knowing he was going to do something he probably shouldn't. "Peter, you know you shouldn't-"

"I know, Iz. But I need your help with this. Please? I wouldn't ask if it wasn't important. And you need to get here fast before the Ferry leaves." Peter interrupted her, and she sighed heavily. She knew he wouldn't take no for an answer. She glanced at her bedroom door, biting her lip. She had to decide. She could go and help her best friend, or she could stay and finish her math homework.

"Okay, I'm on my way."

****

Izzy super sped over to the Staten Island Ferry, getting on it just in time before it took off. She spotted Peter standing near the front and went to join him. "So, update me, Spidey."

"All the guys are here. Weapons, buyers, sellers. All on this boat." Peter informs her. "Perfect."

"Great, but there's only two of us against those guys." Izzy pointed out, furrowing her eyebrows. She wasn't sure how this would work. There were too many bad guys and not enough superheroes.

"Don't worry, we can do this." Peter reassures her, bumping his shoulder against hers. "We're a good team."

"We are, but we still need a plan. What are we going to do?" Izzy questioned, not wanting to be reckless. She didn't want anyone getting hurt, especially not Peter.

"I'm gonna get these guys, there's a white pick up truck below deck. They're using that to move the weapons around. Take down the guys there. Got it?" Peter inquired, reaching a fist bump to her.

Izzy smirks, giving him a fist bump. "Got it. Let's get 'em, Spider-Man." She super sped to below deck where all the cars were, hiding behind one and peering around to spot the white pick-up truck Peter told her about. She spotted the bad guys near the truck and noticed them moving suddenly urgently. She figured they found out Peter was there, but she hoped they didn't know about her yet. She had the advantage. They were focused on Peter. She had to make her move, and fast.

Izzy super sped over and punched the driver in the face, sending him flying out of the driver's seat and onto the ground. "Hey, fellas. Mind if I join the party?" She grins, kicking another guy in the chest and sending him flying into the other men. "This is too easy." She mutters to herself, getting a little cocky. "You guys aren't even giving me a challenge." She smirks, dodging a punch thrown her way and countering with a hard punch of her own. "I could do this all day." She chuckled, sending another man flying with a kick. She loved being able to fight and use her powers. She was unstoppable.

Suddenly while she was distracted she got sent into the wall, knocking her head against it and causing her to get dizzy. "Ow, what the..." She mumbles, rubbing her head. She saw a blurry figure standing in front of her. "Okay, maybe I deserved that. Got too cocky." She murmurs, blinking and trying to focus. Her vision cleared just as she saw the man's fist coming towards her. She yelps and quickly rolls away and got to her feet, using the wall for balance. "Okay, no more messing around. Gotta take them down and fast." She forms a small ball made of electricity, aiming it at the last remaining guy and knocking him out. "I should've done that at the beginning." She scolds herself, rolling her eyes. "And I'm talking to myself." She realizes, feeling embarrassed. "Okay, stop it."

Then she noticed a guy running to the van ahead of the truck and she quickly super sped to him to stop him. She surprised him by quickly appearing in front of him, her eyes flashing with a mix of determination and frustration. "Going somewhere?" She asked, her tone sharp.

The guy's eyes widens in surprise, and he stumbles back, trying to regain his composure. "Elektra." He growls, his fists clenching. "You think you can stop us?"

Izzy narrows her eyes at the man, her electricity crackling around her fingers. "I know I can. Now, why don't you just give up and make this easy for me and Spidey?"

The man scowls, pulling out a weapon from his coat. "You kids think you're so tough, huh? This is far from over."

A sudden commotion ahead of them gained her attention, causing her to get distracted enough for the man to shove her off him and run to the white van. Izzy realized Peter was on the same level now, fighting with some guys that they had noticed when they first got there. But she was shocked and in disbelief to see the FBI there. What were they doing on the boat?

"Your uncle is calling," Eve's sudden voice made her jump. "Want me to put him through?"

Her eyes widen and she mentally curses her uncle. Now was not a good time for a call. "What? Why would he be calling out of nowhere? And why now?"

She let out a pained grunt when her back came in contact with the wall out of nowhere. Her eyes widen and her jaw dropped at seeing who was holding her against the wall. "Holy freakin' Vulture...." She breathed out, not expecting to suddenly see the Vulture guy here.

"Izzy, would you like me to answer the call?" Eve repeated, her tone urgent.

"Yeah, no, I'm kind of in the middle of something!" Izzy exclaimed.

"You're in trouble. You don't know what you're dealing with. You and that Spider kid." The Vulture informs her, his tone deep and threatening. "So, if I were you, I'd stop meddling with things you don't understand." He glared at her before dropping her, walking away.

Izzy watched him go, confused and scared. "Lightning bug," Tony's voice comes through the earpiece, making her sigh. She couldn't believe this. "Hey, I know it's been awhile since you and I had a good chat, and you probably want me to just butt out and stay out, but I just wanna congratulate you with helping Peter out in Washington saving those people. That was really brave of you two. And you both have gotten a lot better."

"Uh, thanks. I mean, I didn't expect you to call me. Not that I'm complaining." Izzy mutters, still a little nervous. She appreciated what he said, just wished he would have called her when she wasn't fighting bad guys. "Just now isn't really a good time."

"Look, I just wanna say...You did good." Tony tells her. "And I'm proud of you. You're a great kid, Iz."

She smiles a bit, touched by his words. "Thanks, Uncle Tony, but, uh, I've gotta go. I'll talk to you later."

"Wait, Izzy-"

"Eve, end the call." Izzy interrupted him, not wanting to hear whatever he had to say. She had more important things to focus on. Because the Vulture was heading straight to Peter, who noticed he was there now. And so have the FBI, who immediately started shooting at the Vulture despite Peter warning them to get out of the way. Izzy super sped over to help Peter with getting the FBI members out of the way just as the Vulture flew by, picking up a crushed car and knocking off a motorcycle and a guy hanging off the edge into the ocean. Izzy grimaced at that and her eyes widened at seeing the weapon Vulture was getting ready. Izzy focused on getting the rest of the FBI out of the way before the Vulture shot at them.

She figured Vulture said something to his men, well, the man who was left, because he started heading to the top deck. That was before Peter shot a web at him though he missed. "I got him, Spidey!" Izzy reassured him, heading past him to get to the other guy.

"Thanks, Elektra!" Peter replied, turning to the Vulture and shooting a web at him.

Izzy follows the guy who had another weapon with him, but she beat him to it to the top level. "Hey, buddy. Wanna hand me that weapon?" She grins, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow. "Or do you want me to knock you out first?"

The guy scowls, aiming the weapon at her. He fired, but Izzy used her super speed to dodge it. "Missed me, missed me." She mocks, chuckling. "Now, let's make this easier on the both of us and hand it over." She held out her hand, hoping the guy would be smart and just give it to her. But her attention is drawn to inside the Ferry when panicked yells and gasps are heard which made her worry for everyone on board with whatever was happening. She didn't realize the Vulture was flying by, letting the guy get his escape route. He ran to the edge and jumped off just as she realized he was escaping. She mentally cursed herself while watching them fly away. When she turned around, she was shocked to find the Ferry was splitting in half. Peter had managed to get the weapon the Vulture guy had, but it had went off so many times and hit the ship just right for it to be split in half.

She immediately knew she and Peter couldn't fix this and save everyone by themselves. They needed help. "Eve, can you call Uncle Tony back?" She inquired.

"Yeah, sure thing." Eve replied.

It's not a few seconds later when Tony speaks in an annoyed tone. "I didn't appreciate it when you cut me off there, young lady, but now you wanna talk?"

She sighs heavily, trying to not roll her eyes. "Look, I'm sorry, but I didn't have much of a choice. But, yeah, I'm gonna need your help. Me and Spidey are kinda in a bit of a pickle."

Tony is quiet before he demands, "What the h** are you talking about?"

****

Peter had tried his very best to keep the boat together by shooting a lot of webs at both sides to hold them together, though it was obvious he was clearly straining. He couldn't hold that forever and Izzy didn't have any levitating or flying powers to help push the ship back together. She made a mental note to add that to a new suit design. She super sped to each level to help people that needed help, praying and hoping that her uncle would get there faster. "Eve, is he here yet? I swear, if he doesn't hurry-"

"He's here." Eve responded and the sudden movement of the ship caused her to look to her left when she noticed her uncle pushing the other part of the ship back up. Peter had managed to stop the other side, but one side was still sinking.

"Finally." Izzy sighs with relief. "Could've been a little faster, Iron Man." She called out.

"Sorry, not everyone has super speed like yourself, Elektra." Iron Man replies in a sassy tone. He then looks at Peter, tilting his head to the side. "Hi, Spider-Man. Band practice, was it?" He questioned, sounding a little amused. Multiple small drones fly over and help Tony push the two parts of the ships together completely. Everyone cheered for Iron Man just like they had done with Peter at first before the webs started breaking. They were cheering for Izzy as well which she thought was sweet. After double checking everyone was alright and no one was hurt, she followed her uncle and Peter down to the lower deck where her uncle was fixing up the split in the boat, putting it back together.

Peter tried to ask Tony if there was anything else he wanted him to do to help as he and Izzy made it to the top of the boat, Izzy getting there ahead of Peter while Tony flew around. "I think you've done enough." Was all he said before he flew off.
