Tw: Pregnancy, sexual references (Sinker)
"Mesh'la," Wolffe murmured, ducking his head to speak directly into her ear. "We have guests."
Karina perked up, making grabby hands at him. "Who is it?"
Wolffe helped her stand up, holding her for a moment as she gained her balance. She had recently lost her ability to stand up and walk normally.
He found it adorable how she was waddling around.
"Remember the cadets I trained?" Wolffe grinned as her entire face lit up.
Karina began hurrying along, racing ahead. She stopped to lean against a wall, glaring at her swollen ankles. "Wolffe."
He sighed, holding out his hands. She placed her shoes in them and resumed her trip, pattering along barefoot.
"Oh!" Karina gasped once she saw them. "Aren't you all so grown up?"
Flare's brow pinched. "Thank you?"
Karina started crying and turned her face away so they wouldn't see her tears. "I- I'm so proud o-of you!"
Wolffe pulled her close and gently steered her so her face was against his chest. He patted her back and rubbed circles on the back of her neck soothingly. "I know."
"What's wrong with her?" Wiggle bluntly asked.
"Pregnant," Warthog tiredly explained. He motioned for them to follow him. "I'll take you to your rooms. Come on."
They filed after him as Wolffe comforted Karina. Soon, her hiccups faded into slow breaths and she wiped at her face.
"That was stupid, wasn't it?" she asked with a quiet laugh.
"No," Wolffe assured her.
She raised an eyebrow.
"Maybe a little," Wolffe admitted. He stroked her hair gently, kissing her briefly before pulling away. "We should go talk with them. They're probably confused about the Empire."
"Did you take care of the influence the Empire had on you?" Karina inquired, placing her hands on her stomach.
Wolffe nodded. "Yeah. Turns out there was a chip of some kind. Rex is currently working on removing it from the others, but everyone that came back with me had theirs removed. I'll take care of the young ones soon."
"That's good." Karina reached up to touch the scar on his head where a chunk of his hair had been shaved away. "I thought you were going bald."
Wolffe scowled at her, setting his jaw. "Why would you think I'm going bald?"
"I mean, you do age quickly." Karina shrugged, waddling away to go find the young clones.
"Wha- Hey!" Wolffe caught up with her with just a few strides. "Does it look like I'm getting older?"
Karina considered it, tilting her head.
"Why do you have to think about it?" Wolffe demanded.
Karina picked up the pace, trying to escape.
Wolffe barely had to jog to keep up. "Karina."
She was breathing heavily as she attempted her escape, thinking she was way ahead of him. "Try and catch me, loser!"
He wrapped his arms around her from behind. "Tell me, or I'll do it."
"You wouldn't," Karina exclaimed, though her voice was tinged with hesitancy.
"Wouldn't I?" Wolffe arched a brow and smirked.
"You wouldn't." Karina kicked out her legs in a pitiful attempt to free herself.
He blew on her ear, making her shriek.
"Fine!" Karina shouted, finally relenting to his ruthless torture. "You have wrinkles, okay? Around your mouth and eyes. But it's not a bad thing, okay?"
Wolffe frowned. "Those aren't wrinkles. They're scowl lines, and I'm proud of them. I worked hard for them."
Karina stared for a moment before bursting into laughter.
"What?" Wolffe's frown deepened. "Did I say something?"
Karina sighed, leaning back into him. "You're ridiculous."
"I'm so sorry," Karina softly said, placing her hand on Adult's shoulder after he finished telling them about what happened to Sunshine in their escape. "That's horrible."
"We'll try our best to get him back." Wolffe glanced to Boost who nodded. "I'm sure we can get a team together."
"I'll go," Sinker volunteered. "He's probably so scared. We can't just leave him there."
"I'll get you anything you need to get him back," Karina promised. She slowly lowered herself to a chair, letting out a groan as her swollen ankles were relieved of her weight. "Just say the word and I'll make it happen."
"Let's see what you remember of your training." Wolffe squeezed Karina's shoulders as he addressed the cade- the young clones. "Then we'll see how many of you can go."
"He's our brother!" Venom protested. "We have to save him!"
"I'm not letting any of you die," Wolffe firmly stated. "That's why we have Sinker."
"Yea- Hey!" Sinker glared at Wolffe. He crossed his arms and put his weight on one leg. "That's not funny!"
"Ignore him." Wolffe brushed past Sinker. "Out to the courtyard. I'll assess you there."
Moon, Wiggle, Tricks, and Friendly were all kindly told they couldn't go. Friendly took it the best, understanding how he hadn't yet adapted to his lack of sight. The others grumbled a lot more, but when Wolffe's jaw had set, they all agreed.
"We'll continue to brush up on your skills while we plan the mission," Wolffe declared as Karina waddled over to his side. "And Flare, I want a full report of the security there."
"It's minimal, but it seems the entire place is all attached to a security system. It electrocuted Sunshine, but I'm betting isn't strong enough for lethal force. Otherwise they probably would've killed us all," Flare told him.
Wolffe nodded, removing his coat and draping it over Karina's shoulders. "I'll let Comet know. And... Are you sure Sunshine is still alive?"
"He has to be." Crease looked at Wolffe with eyes full of hope. "He can't be dead."
Wolffe gave him a sympathetic glance before sighing. "I just want you all to be prepared in case he's dead."
"Wolffe," Karina scolded. "Be positive."
"I'm being realistic," Wolffe argued. "Rescue missions don't always succeed."
"We have an opening!" Boost shouted as he sprinted towards them. "In two months! We heard word of a shipment being discreetly delivered then! Our sources say the delivery is everyone couple months, and we just missed the last one."
"So we disguise ourselves as delivery people?" Sinker suggested. He narrowed his eyes and stared into the distance. "I already have a costume ready..."
"Why?" Warthog curiously asked before frowning. "Actually-"
"My last partner had a thing for delivery people," Sinker said, launching into a not-wanted explanation. "Let's just say the cleaning bill for that outfit was well-worth it."
Crease gagged. "Ew. No thank you."
"I agree with Crease." Adult frantically nodded, eyes wide. "I don't need to hear more."
"Hey." Sinker put his hands up. "I'm just saying that a little seduction might help us sneak in."
"So you want to seduce Kaminoans?" Boost demanded. "Absolutely the kriff not."
"Yeah, we're not seducing anyone." Comet shook his head with disgust. "Especially not Kaminoans."
Sinker shrugged. "Your loss. But my plan would've worked."
They all walked away, still bickering, and Wolffe began to join them. He paused when Karina startled.
"Hey. Two months from now?" Karina worriedly touched Wolffe's arm. "That's my due date."
"It'll be fine," Wolffe soothed her. "Baby's never arrive on their due date anyways."
"Yeah, I guess you're right..." Karina trailed off, not mentioning that it was his baby. And if she was anything like her father, she would be exactly on time.
Wolffe grasped her hands with his. "It'll be okay. After this, we'll all be together again. The young ones will have their brother again."
Karina smiled bitterly. "Okay. Fine. You can go. Just come back safely, okay?"
"Of course." Wolffe kissed her.
"Haha, wouldn't it be so funny if Wolffe like died or something and never saw his daughter?" Sinker wheezed out a laugh, his worries abundantly clear.
Comet smacked his arm and hissed, "Don't say that!"
They both looked behind them, to where Wolffe and Karina were still talking. He had his head bowed and he whispered to his unborn child.
"We can't let that happen," Sinker determinedly said. He watched Karina laugh as Wolffe suggested a name for their child that sounded absolutely ridiculous.
"We won't." Comet studied the pair as well. "For our niece."
"For our niece," Sinker echoed, feeling his stomach sink with a foreboding feeling.
