Tw: Injuries, Blood.

Double update!

Bets are fun. They're a good way to pass the time. They bring people together.

Sometimes literally.

The current bet was whether any of them could get Wolffe and Karina together.

They each had different tactics on how to get the pair together. Bones was against the idea entirely, and was not shy in voicing his concerns.

But everyone else was against him, insisting that he was too soft on her for it to be anything else.
Boost was the first to make his attempt, inviting Karina down to the training room. He thought that if she saw Wolffe exercising, it may cause her to...

Well that's as far as his plan went so far.

But it would work.

So when Karina was led there, Wolffe just so happened to be there.

What a coincidence.

And Boost picked the set of weights right next to Wolffe.

What a coincidence.

"Here." Boost handed her a five (only one due to her shoulder being injured). "Try this."

Karina curled her lip. "I'll try this instead." She picked up a twenty and got to work with it.

Boost shrugged and pretended to do sit-ups, instead paying attention to Wolffe and Karina. Karina was doing lunges, chatting with Warthog and Comet, who had introduced themselves. An idea struck Boost, so he stuck out his leg.

Karina stumbled, falling into Wolffe.

Boost was filled with glee.

His plan worked!

Wolffe was going to catch her and it was going to be romantic and-

"Wolffe," Karina whimpered, squeezing his arm. Her leg looked... odd. "The weights fell and-and-"

Wolffe grimaced. "I'll take you to Stunner."

Boost was mortified. He had hurt Karina! This wasn't how the plan was supposed to go.

Sinker was next to make his move.

He waited until Karina and Wolffe were eating together again, and sat with them. His idea was to flirt with Karina and make Wolffe jealous.

It would work way better than the stupid exercise one.

"Hi, Karina!" Sinker brightly said. "I like your shirt!"

Karina glanced down. "It's GAR regulation. This is the one of three shirts I was supplied with when I joined."

"Well, it looks nice on you," Sinker said.

"Thanks?" Karina looked to Wolffe.

"Uh, it looks good on you specifically," Sinker said with a grin, leaning forwards.

"Sinker, do I need to make you sit through a workplace harassment seminar?" Wolffe threatened tiredly. "Because I will."

"No, sir," Sinker sheepishly said.

"Wolffe, he's just being nice," Karina scolded, placing a hand on his arm.

Wolffe glared at Sinker, but eventually ducked his head when Karina's eyes bore into him for too long.

"I heard you broke your leg." Sinker examined the cast and the crutches. "Is it hard to use crutches with your arm in a sling?"

"They took the sling off. It might take longer to heal with the constant aggravation, but at least I can get around." Karina pushed her empty plate away.

"They also said you could've used a wheelchair," Wolffe reminded her. "You chose the crutches."

"And they said it was my choice," Karina pointedly said. "So stay out of it."

"I'd carry you around if you wanted," Sinker offered with a wink.

"I wouldn't trust Sinker to do that," Wolffe advised. "His stamina isn't the greatest."

Sinker gasped dramatically. "I can assure you, my stamina is fine!"

"Then how come when it's time to do wind sprints, you're the first to stop?" Wolffe inquired.

"Because wind sprints suck!" Sinker exclaimed and spread his arms out.

"Ow!" Karina cried out as Sinker's hand his her in the face. She toppled backwards, landing on the floor.

Wolffe glowered at Sinker as he picked Karina up, gently placing her on the bench. "Sinker-"

"I forgot I have somewhere to be!" Sinker yelled as he ran away, deeply terrified of the look on Wolffe's face.

Warthog's plan was simple.

Simplicity worked best.

His idea was to just locked them in a closet and see what happened.

"Commander! Help!" Warthog screamed as he burst into Wolffe's office. "Help!"

Wolffe looked up with a mix of alarm and exasperation. "What is it?"

"Karina's in trouble!" Warthog exclaimed.

Wolffe sighed and stood up. "What happened this time?"

"Someone kidnapped her!" Warthog cried out.

Wolffe stared at him. "We're on Kamino. Who on Kamino would kidnap her?"

Warthog paused. "Uh, Deto?"

"That son of a bitch," Wolffe angrily said. He began to storm out of the room.

"She's over here!" Warthog said as he led Wolffe down the corridors. When they reached the chosen closet, Warthog shoved Wolffe inside and smashed the control panel, effectively locking him in there.

"Warthog!" Wolffe yelled. "What are you doing?"

Warthog giggled. "Oh no! The button broke! I can't open the door anymore!"

"Wolffe?" Karina's voice broke through their shouting. "I don't like the darkness."

Wolffe stayed silent for a minute. "Warthog, get a slicer. Get this door open."

"On it!" Warthog walked away at a leisurely pace.

"For every minute that passes, you have to do ten pushups!" Wolffe threatened.

Warthog began to hurry.

Comet thought his plan over a bit more than the others. He observed Karina a bit until he believed to have an idea of something that might work on her.

So he found her room and waited until she left it in the morning.

He jammed her door.

Comet smiled in satisfaction as he looked at his work. This door wouldn't open without a whole lot of effort and strength.

Strength Karina didn't have with her shoulder and leg.

So he waited until the stars appeared in the sky, and the hallways were empty.

He eventually saw Karina sluggishly return to her quarters. She pressed the button to open the door and frowned when it didn't slide open.

She pressed it again.

And again.

And again.

Yet nothing happened.

Karina let her head rest against the wall momentarily, before hobbling away with her crutches.
"Hey, Karina," Comet said with a friendly tone. "What are you doing out so late?"

"My door won't open," Karina tiredly told him. "I'm going to the medical bay to see if they have a spare bed."

"It's closed. It's very late at night," Comet said with a frown. He pretended to think before snapping his fingers. "Maybe Wolffe could help! He's great at slicing!"

That was a lie. Wolffe didn't know how to slice.

"Do you know where he is?" Karina asked.

"Probably in his room. Because he's a commander he gets his own quarters on Kamino," Comet told her. "Let's go there."

Karina followed him down another hallway until they reached Wolffe's room. Comet knocked on the door and stepped back patiently.

Wolffe opened the door, rubbing his eyes. He had clearly been woken up by them, because he was in just his blacks with marks adorning his cheek where the pillow had been pressing.

"What?" Wolffe gruffly said.

"Karina's door is broken," Comet said sweetly. "She needs a place to sleep."

"Wait, what?" Karina said. "I thought he was just going to open it for me."

"We'll figure out a plan," Comet soothingly said to her.

Wolffe frowned. "Why doesn't she just go the med bay?"

"Because it's closed." Comet rolled his eyes. "Just give her a place to sleep. You're going to deny an injured woman a warm bed? Wow, Commander."

"That's not what I was saying!" Wolffe groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose. "There's not anywhere else?"

"Nope!" Comet chirped.

"Actually, I could just-" Karina was cut off by Comet elbowing her.

She was thrown off balance and fell.

Karina looked up at Wolffe with pained eyes. "Wolffe."

Wolffe sighed heavily. "I'll wake Stunner."

Can you help me up?" Karina requested.

Wolffe nodded and picked her up. He shot a nasty look over is shoulder at Comet. "You."

Comet didn't dare move, staying exactly where he was. Wolffe crossed his arms and glared down at him.

"What was that?" Wolffe demanded. "Why did you shove her?"

"My arm spasmed and it shot out!" Comet lied. "It was an accident!"

Wolffe glowered at him. "Get out of here."

Comet scrambled away.

"Nothing worked!" Sinker complained. "This sucks!"

"There must be a way to do this!" Mistake said. "There's always a way!"

Bones put a hand on his shoulder. "Not this time."

"Oh!" Sinker gasped. "What if we infect her with a deadly disease? Then they both confess their feelings for each other because she's dying!"

The others all squinted at him.

"Are you insane?" Boost hissed. "It's deadly for a reason!"

"We'll find a cure, obviously." Sinker rolled his eyes. "After they confess their feelings we'll cure her."

"Oh that'll work," Comet sarcastically said. "We just have to cure a deadly disease first."

"Can someone think of an actual idea if you guys are going to do this?" Bones said in annoyance.

"I have an idea." Coda announced. He put down the datapad he was holding. "This contains the plans for what we're going to do. This will work."

Boost read it over with a furrowed brow. "This... This could work."

"How would we even do this?" Warthog asked in amazement.

"Hey, I just make the plans." Coda shrugged. "Think of it as my gift to you before I leave."

"You're leaving?" Mistake questioned. "But our training just started!"

"Yours did, but I've been training for a couple months." Coda grinned. "I'm leaving to join the 501st. After I join we're going to some planet. Something about finding a Separatist base."

"Good luck, then." Comet clapped him on the back. "When is that?"

"Five rotations. I didn't get much warning," Coda said with a bittersweet smile.

"We'll pull off one last mission together before you go!" Sinker declared, waving the datapad around.

"Guys!" Warthog screamed as he sprinted at them. "Commander Wolffe is furious! I saw him yell at a cadet! A child!"

Boost blanched. "What happened?"

"Karina's in a wheelchair now! Her shoulder got worse and she can't support herself in crutches! He blames us!" Warthog reported. "He's coming this way!"

"We need to run," Sinker slowly stood, the colour draining from his face, "before it's too late."
Wolffe marched in through the door, radiating fury. Coda shrieked and hid the datapad behind his back. Sinker dove behind Warthog.

"Hey, Commander!" Boost pleasantly said. "What are you doing here?"

"What the kriff is wrong with you all? The shoulder was a clearly accident, but then you also break her leg?" Wolffe seethed out.

"That was an accident!" Boost protested.

"What are you holding behind your back?" Wolffe coldly asked Coda, making everyone freeze.
"Wolffe!" Karina slowly wheeled herself in. "Slow down next time!"

"Sorry," Wolffe muttered, ducking his head.

"What are you all doing?" Karina inquired, tilting her head.

"Just hanging out." Sinker slung an arm over Mistake's shoulder.

"Coda was hiding something behind his back." Wolffe pointed at him. "I was trying to find out what it was."

"Run," Bones whispered to Coda.

"Can I see it?" Karina gently asked. "I won't get mad."

Coda hesitantly looked to the others. "Uh, no."

Wolffe glowered at them. "What are you hiding?"

"How about you show one of us and we decide if the other needs to know?" Karina suggested. "I think Wolffe just wants to know if it's bad."

Coda bit the inside of his cheek. "Fine. I'll show you, Karina."

He shuffled forward and showed her the screen, and everyone exchanged nervous glances.
Karina's eyebrows went up as she read it, and she pursed her lips. Her eyes flicked to Wolffe, who was staring at them, gaze heavy with suspicion.

Kara swallowed thickly before telling Wolffe, "It's fine."

"If it's fine they can show me," Wolffe argued.

"Maybe it's none of your business," Karina boldly said, arching an eyebrow. "Have you thought about that? This is a private thing, and you're invading their privacy."

"Fine. Keep your secrets." Wolffe moved to grab the handles of the wheelchair, but she batted his hands away.

"I'll catch up in a bit. I need to talk to them," Karina told him.

Wolffe huffed, but left them alone.

"Thank you!" Sinker exclaimed. "He would've killed us!"

"Why are you- Actually, I don't want to know." Karina shuddered.

"Maybe we shouldn't do that," Boost decided. "It's a bit... explicit."

"You were planning on doing that?" Karina paled. "Maybe Wolffe should know..."

"No! Karina, don't!" Sinker shouted, stepping forward. He tripped, unfortunately, and landed on Karina. Karina's face hit his chest plate, and she groaned in pain.

"Wolffe!" Comet screamed.

"I think he's gone already," Warthog said after the commander hadn't magically appeared.

"Should we take her to Sinker ourselves?" Mistake asked.

"I'm fine," Karina said, ignoring the blood dripping from her nose.

"Wolffe!" Comet yelled again.

"Do you feel like your nose is broken?" Coda worriedly asked Karina.

"It doesn't look crooked," Bones remarked.

"Looks can be deceiving," Sinker wisely said.

"Get away from me!" Karina harshly said as Boost tried to touch her nose.

"Wolffe!" Comet shouted, rolling his eyes. "Karina's hurt!"

Wolffe sprinted through the door, holding his blasters out, ready to shoot someone. "What the kark did you do this time?"

"I'm fine!" Karina insisted, wiping away the blood.

"I'm taking you to Stunner," Wolffe said with a scowl and began to push her out the door.

"You should give up," Bones said. "It's never going to happen."

"We just need a plan that'll work," Sinker said with a heavy sigh.

"But what would?" Mistake wondered.

Karina's plan was different than the other's.

Granted, she wasn't aware of what their plan was for. She assumed they wanted Wolffe to date Deto, not her.

So she decided to join in with them in their little game.

"Here." Wolffe handed her a comm. "This goes directly to my comm. It's an extra one that I had. Contact me if they hurt you again." He muttered something under his breath that was clearly an insult directed to his brothers.

"Oh, thank you," Karina murmured as she tucked it into her pockets.

"So what is it this time?" Stunner asked with a grin as he bounded towards them.

"Nose." Wolffe gestured to Karina's face.

Stunner hummed and turned around to get his scanner.

"Have you seen Deto recently?" Karina casually asked.

"No. Why?" Wolffe accepted the ice Stunner held out and applied it to Karina's face, quietly uttering words of reassurance as she winced.

"No reason," Karina replied.

"I think it's just a nose bleed," Stunner said after he had scanned Karina's face. "I've noticed you get injured a lot. Is there a reason for that?"

"Cuun di'kut vods," Wolffe said in Mando'a, rolling his eyes.

"Staabi." Stunner chuckled. "What are they up to now?"

Wolffe shrugged.

"Ah, ibac kebi," Stunner said with a knowing smile.

"Gar kar'taylir meg bic cuyir?" Wolffe asked in surprise.

Karina was staring at them in confusion. "Can I go, or...?"

"Sure." Stunner nodded, switching back to a language Karina could understand.

"Tell me what it is!" Wolffe demanded.

"Manners, Commander," Stunner cheekily said.

Wolffe let out a heavy sigh and grabbed the handles of Karina's wheelchair. "Where are we going, now?"

"Oh, you don't have to come. I was just going to get an early dinner." Karina smiled at him.

"Of course I'm coming along."

So Wolffe guided her from the room, giving Stunner one last pleading look to just tell him what was being hidden.

Wolffe had a plan.

His plan involved a long night's rest and an early morning. He'd scold the cadets for sleeping in, then make them run laps.

His plan, however, had nothing to do with Karina. Besides eating with her, but that was a give-in. It was their routine.

So when he had a knock on the door, he opened with a grumble, ready to snap at whoever had woken him.

He immediately shut his mouth when he met Karina's gaze.

"What's wrong?" Wolffe leaned against the doorway, rubbing his eyes.

"I-I had a nightmare," Karina whispered. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have bothered you, but-"

Wolffe waved her concerns away and stepped aside, letting her glide inside. He sat down on his bunk and yawned. "Tell me about it."

"I was back home," Karina quietly said. "Benedict was there. So were my parents."

Wolffe nodded. "Yeah?"

Karina drummed her fingers on the arm of the wheelchair. "Yeah. I had to marry him."

"What else?" Wolffe prompted.

"Can I just... stay here tonight?" Karina asked. "Please?"

Wolffe scooted over and made room for her in his bed. "Don't hog the blankets."

Karina crawled in beside him and placed her sling in the empty wheelchair. She yawned and placed her cheek on his outstretched arm.

Wolffe glanced down at her for a moment before hesitantly wrapping his other arm around her waist. She didn't push him away, so he closed his eyes and listened to her breaths.

And Sinker stared at them with wide eyes through the open doorway, covering his mouth.

He had just happened to be walking by, when he had seen the open door. Sinker shut the door and slowly backed away.
