The new girl, Julie, was good company. It was definitely better than the dead silence when she wasn't around.

"If we take the Bus Nine, we should be able to make it to Gotham. Any reason to go there?" Julie said as we looked up to the bus routs.

"No real reason... I just have a feeling. You?" Tom answered. He sat on the bench and Jules sat beside me.

"I'm on a job." Julie was quiet pretty. Nice dark hair matched with deep green eyes. But the girl in Tom's head, that appears in dreams, she's beautiful.

"Ah yes." He chuckled. "And I'm guessing you won't tell me."

"That's true." Julie smiled. The the conversation went on like that, He'd ask something and then she wouldn't answer fully. Then she would ask about my life, but since Tom don't remember anything that was pointless. At some point we got quiet and listened to the frogs begin to croak. The sun began to set.  At some point he must've fallen asleep, because he was dreaming.

Tom sat on the beach with the mysterious girl. They were laughing talking. It was... Amazing. He was happy, and not traveling the county. Where was this girl?

~.~ Rose ~.~

I sat on the beach where the shore would tickle my toes. The others were farther down the beach, building sandcastles and playing in the waves. I gave out a small sigh of exhaustion and boredom. I wish Slick was still around, we could hang out.

The tide grew, the shore moving in. Kaldur could be spotted as he practiced with his water weapon. M'gann was burring Conner in the sand. And Wally, Robin and Artemis stood in the water. Today was a nice day, sunny sky with a few lingering clouds with a nice breeze. The Mission Watch, newer technology, beeped and the little screen broadcasted Super Man's face.

"Tom has been spotted in Gotham." He said.

"What?" I was a little stunned, Slick hasn't been spotted until today.

"Yeah, I want to go check it out. We don't need a million others there, just you for now." Then he hung up. I started to make my way to The Cave but turned to tell the others bye.

"I'm going to take a nap, it's hot out." I called out to the others. They waved bye. I have returned to lying, I sighed to myself as I climbed on my motorcycle, Gotham wasn't far.

~.~ Cole ~.~

Gotham seemed to pull at Cole, wanting to bring him closer. But why? Why was this crime ridden city beckoning to him and pulling at his bones?

"Fine." He sighed to himself. He clobbered into the red truck, the one he had stolen. The engine grumbled and snored as Cole drove out of the small town. Maybe Julie is there... He couldn't help but hope for the best. Cole smiled and pushed in the gas pedal hoping to see the love of his life.

As the dark city drew nearer, the butterflies in his stomach felt like they held machine guns. As he drove down streets, out of the corner of his eye he looked. Looked down every alley and up every fire escape. Then he saw her. The perfect girl for him, walking from a bus with... Wait. That boy... Could it be? A sneer replaced his smile. That boy that's a danger to his sister.

"Julie!" I called and ran towards her. When her eyes made contact with mine, turned and ran. "Hey!"

Chaos filled the streets right after we got off the bus. Their was a sound of gun fire ringing in my ear. The crowds separated as they ran.

"Where are we going?" I called over the crazy sounds.

"Away!" She pulled. Julie was fast, and strong. She pulled at my arm as we ran. But through the chaos I saw her. She rode on a motorcycle and called out multiple times;

"SLICK! WHERE ARE YOU?!" She screamed and looked around frantically. That voice, it was...

"Rose?" I muttered. I wanted to run I the girl, but Julie's grip held me tight.
