Prompt by Dissmisery. Thank you again!!!

I don't really remember the storyline of S1 all that well so..... the dragons are there, no one knows Nya is Samurai X yet and Lloyd is still a kid. Everything is jumbled up so bear with me pls–

I apologise for any typos. Med school is killing me and I barely have time for anything anymore so I had to rush it and didn't recheck my work.

Smack!

The boys jumped when the stick hit the stand board, slightly denting the smooth paper surface. Jay whipped it a few more times to set the mood, eyes scrutinizing Kai, Cole and Zane, his comrades who sat at a small table in front of him (and Lloyd, the kid who wasn't really supposed to be here).

Zane cleared his throat when Jay did not cease his assault and said, "Perhaps you should stop mutilating the lecture board and explain what you want to tell us."

"Right," Jay began, failing to notice the gigantic eye-roll displayed by Kai. "We are gathered here today–"

"We could be doing something so much more productive right now," Cole cut in.

"–to discuss my strategy on 'How To Make Nya Fall In Love With Me'," Jay continued, running the stick under each word of the heading written on the board as he read them aloud. Below that were a bunch of childish drawings illustrating the plan.

Everyone quietly stared at the ginger. Kai's facade switched from annoyed to stern in a matter of seconds. Cole scratched his head. Lloyd lowered his Starfarer comic. Zane raised an uncertain hand.

Jay pointed the stick at him with all the air of a strict school teacher. "Yes, Zane?"

"Why do you require an entire strategy to express your feelings to Nya?"

"Because he's an insecure nitwit," Kai muttered.

"Because without a strategy, your life will be nothing more than a waste!" Jay exclaimed, delivering another aggressive hit to the board. "If you don't have a strategy, you die!"

Another awkward silence reigned. Lloyd gulped and slowly hid his face behind the comic once more.

Kai shrugged. "Insecurity at its finest."

Jay prominently cleared his throat, restoring his resolve. "Yes, so as I was saying . . . I've been through every single classic romance and I've come to a conclusion." He paused for effect, eyeing the others. Cole opened his mouth to say something but Jay didn't give him a chance.

"Women tend to fall in love quicker when they're saved from a potentially dangerous situation."

"What?" Lloyd spoke, putting his comic on the table. "Come on. That's literal bullsh–"

He broke off when Kai aimed a death glare at him.

"Cow poop," the ten year-old corrected himself, smiling sheepishly at the fire ninja afterwards.

"Your hair is cow poop!" Jay raged, brandishing the dreaded stick at Lloyd's blonde head.

Cole gave a loud gasp, seizing the young boy as if to shield him. "Don't body shame the child! Where's your humanity?"

"He's merit-shaming my million dollar idea!"

"Merit-shaming?!"

Kai scoffed, squinting at the lecture board. "Jay, your million dollar idea is just a stupid drawing of Nya being attacked by a . . . What is that? A dog?"

"That's a dragon!" Jay stated indignantly, offended at the beration of his art skills.

"I thought that was a donkey," Cole added.

"Everyone, pay attention!" Jay screamed, inducing abrupt silence over the group. He  pointed at the first illustration. It depicted a poorly drawn dragon clutching a female stick figure labelled 'Nya'. "I will order my dragon, Wisp, to grab Nya when she's not expecting it and hold her captive."

Jay moved onto the next drawing where a scribble of a man was shooting down from the sky and heading straight towards the dragon. "Nya will be scared and in need of a hero. She'll cry for help and I'll swoop into the scene. I'll remind Wisp to keep the fight challenging but still go easy on me."

The next drawing was of the dragon (which immensely resembled a spiked donkey) laying flat on its back with its tongue out and crosses instead of eyes. Next to the defeated monster was Jay, triumphantly holding Nya up in his arms. A dozen little hearts floated over their heads along with a capitalized 'MISSION ACCOMPLISHED'.

"In the end, I'll save Nya from Wisp. She will be so impressed by my heroics, she'll fall deeply in love with me. At that moment, I'll ask her to be mine. And then, we'll live happily ever after!" Jay concluded, a wide smile on his face.

The silence that followed was so dense, it was a wonder they couldn't hear crickets chirping. The only sound that came was a light thump as Kai slapped his forehead.

"Or," Cole spoke up, raising a finger, "you could spare everyone the aggravation, let Wisp live in peace and simply tell Nya how you feel like a normal person."

"No!" Jay shrieked, making everyone jump for the second time. "That'll lower my chances of success and increase the risk of getting rejected!"

Zane frowned. "So, you have concluded that Nya is more likely to admire you if you deliberately put her in a risky situation and let her play the victim?"

"Yes."

Lloyd clicked his tongue. "That's a pretty old school mindset, not gonna lie."

"See?" Kai exclaimed, gesturing at the boy. "Even Lloyd knows that girls don't like being the damsels in distress anymore. Nya is no exception."

"Personally, I think you should drop this and just stay single," Lloyd said, scooping up his comic and leaving the table. "Love and romance is blegh and girls are disgusting." He stopped short, thinking over something. Then he added, "Except for Nya. She's nice."

Jay rolled his eyes. "Nya is the one I'm going for."

"Well, then she's disgusting too," Lloyd pouted, proceeding out of the room.

Kai, Cole and Zane first glanced at each other then at Jay. Without saying another word, all three of them stood up and followed Lloyd's example.

"Where are you going?" Jay called out. "We still have to calculate the exact scenarios so that I don't mess up while in action!"

Kai turned around. "Bro, all I can say is . . . don't do it. You're only wasting your time and putting Nya in unnecessary danger. And I don't want my sister in unnecessary danger."

Jay turned red with aggravation. He clenched his fists as he watched his teammates walk out the door. "This plan will work and I will prove it!" He yelled after them, stomping his foot on the wood paneled floor.

I sure hope it does, silently murmured a comparitively hopeless part of him.

Nya huffed as she dropped the heavy laundry basket in front of her. She straightened up and stared lazily at the bundles of dirty clothing articles. Just the sight of the workload drained all the energy out of her.

"Another day of being stuck at home, doing chores while the men accomplish admirable feats," she exclaimed loudly with mock excitement, pulling out a red gi from the basket. "Not to mention, I have to babysit the brat too."

She hung out the last of the clothes before looking up at the afternoon sun, calculating the time. She pouted in thought. "I wonder if I can sneak away for a while in my suit. I'll quickly wrap up whatever the guys are dealing with and come back in time to make lunch. I'm sure Lloyd will be fine while I'm gone."

Smiling, Nya proceeded to make her way below deck to her room. She paused at the stairs and backtracked. "No, no, Nya. Control the urge," she muttered to herself. "Too much of Samurai X and you'll be discovered."

She had forced herself halfway to her spot by the washing line before turning around and stalking back. "But the guys need me, I have to go. Lloyd will cover for me if I'm late." She stopped yet again, scratching her head. "Or he could completely reveal my identity."

Nya groaned, digging the heels of her palms into her eyes. "What do I do? Stay or go? Stay or go? Stay or go?"

A distant roar broke her out of her little battle. Frowning, she looked up at the sky. She squinted in the sunlight as a small speck of blue emerged from the clouds and was closing in on the Bounty fast. As it got closer, it grew bigger and took a distinct form. Was it a bird? Birds didn't roar, did they?

"What the heck . . ." Nya trailed off, eyes glued to the descending creature.

She could now make out tiny streaks of blue light sparking around it. It looked like electricity. When it finally reached within a few feet of the ship, Nya gasped in realization.

"Wisp?"

The dragon let out another guttural roar and extended its claws. Nya's eyes widened. She slowly took a few steps back.

"Woah, buddy! Slow down!" she called out in cautious fear but Wisp was furiously plowing forward.

Ultimately, Nya screamed and made a run for the bridge. Her speed was no match for the lightning-fast reptilian beast and it snatched her up before she could seek shelter. The claws tightened around her torso and the dragon rapidly rose to the sky.

"Wisp!" Nya shouted angrily, daring not to look down at the ground as it gradually sped away. "Let me down!"

Wisp roared in response but kept on flying further from the Destiny's Bounty.

"It's me! It's Nya!" yelled the helpless girl, beating at the massive claws. "What's wrong with you?"

The dragon showed no signs of recognition or mercy. It beat its wings faster and faster causing Nya to jerk violently with every movement. The girl no longer tried to loosen the hold on her otherwise she would risk getting injured by the sharp talons. Instead, she pressed the button on her bracelet, activating her Samurai X suit.

At that moment, something shot by her but it wasn't her suit. It was Jay's lightning jet. Nya couldn't help but let out a relieved sigh. Something was wrong with Wisp and only Jay would be able to sort it out. The jet circled the agitated dragon, blocking its path and confusing it. Jay climbed out of the cockpit, crouched down on the wing and jumped.

Nya gasped in surprise but the ginger had managed to make it onto the dragon's back. The jet vanished into thin air, reforming as the Nunchucks of Lightning in Jay's hand. He tucked them into his gi and proceeded to hold up the reins strapped to Wisp's back. He yanked on them and the dragon drew backwards, roaring.

"Calm down, boy!" Jay yelled but the creature twisted and writhed, trying to throw him off its back.

In the midst of the fight, Nya felt the dragon's claws growing slack and before long, she found herself hurtling towards the ground below. Her scream got lost in the wind roaring past her ears.

"Nya!" she heard Jay cry out from above. She could steal make out the sounds of struggle that went on between him and the dragon.

All of a sudden, she spotted her suit shooting towards her. Nya smiled and got ready to grab onto it once it got closer. She couldn't get inside the mech since Jay would see everything but she could make the suit act of its own accord.

She brought the bracelet close to her mouth and yelled, "Engage autopilot! Track activation device!"

The Samurai X suit seemed to slow down for a moment before its thrusters reignited with full power. It continued flying towards Nya and caught her in its arms before the earth got dangerously close.

"To the Bounty!" Nya ordered, and the suit obliged.

As soon as it landed on the deck, Nya hopped off and ordered the mech to fly back to base. Once the suit flew out of sight, Nya made a wild dash through the ship and burst into the bridge.

"What is going on?" Lloyd called out after her as she ran by, not answering.

She began smashing buttons and twisting knobs, getting the engines to start up. The Bounty rumbled to life and gradually lifted off. Nya could still see Jay grappling with Wisp in the sky, the latter shooting bolts of lightning from its mouth and the former deflecting them with his nunchucks.

"Come on, come on, come on," Nya muttered, bringing the ship level with the raging beast. She locked the target onto it and shot a net straight at it.

Before it could be captured, Wisp did a summersault in the air and was able to throw Jay off of itself. Seconds later, the net flew in and got tangled with the dragon's wings. It faltered in flight. Uttering a weak roar, it fluttered to the ground, thrashing wildly at the net. It crashed and lay there, struggling with the wires.

Nya, however, had her eye out for Jay who fell through the air and nearly missed the side of the ship. The girl rushed over, reached out, and grabbed Jay's arm in the nick of time.

"I got you!" she gasped, as Jay thankfully looked up at her. She pulled him up on board, both of them breathing heavily from the exertion. Nya immediately began fussing over him.

"Are you okay? Are you hurt?" She yanked off his mask and turned his face this way and that, checking for cuts and bruises. "Did you break anything?"

Before Jay could even respond, Nya wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug. She patted and rubbed his back like a mother does when comforting a child who just woke up from a nightmare. When she finally pulled away, Jay's face was a vibrant shade of pink which made his freckles even more prominent.

"I have no idea what's gotten into your dragon but I'm glad you're unhurt," Nya said, squeezing Jay's fingers.

"Was that Samurai X who just saved you?" Jay asked, looking around him for a sign of the mech.

Nya flapped a hand to dismiss it. "Oh, yeah. That was him. No big deal." She pulled Jay along to the bridge, bent on changing the subject. "Come on, let's check on Wisp."

•°<~~~•°~❇️~°•~~~>°•

"Samurai X saved Nya and Nya saved you," Cole said with a smirk, trying not to laugh. "Sorry, pal. But it looks like your plan to make Nya fall for you completely backfired."

"No, it did not," Lloyd spoke up, looking disgusted. "After the whole fiasco, they both went down together and spent an hour calming Wisp down in baby voices. Then Nya made spring rolls for Jay and even fed them to him because he had 'been through a lot'."

"It's true," added a smug Jay from the corner, holding a cup of hot chocolate which also had been prepared by Nya. "She's giving me a lot more attention now."

"She has always given you more attention than any of us, dimwit," Kai remarked, folding his arms.

"We did learn one thing from this ordeal," Zane said, hoping to be the one to add in something positive. "Jay's plans always sound impractical, they go horribly wrong during execution, but in the end, they work out pretty well."

"Thank you," Jay said in a singsong manner, taking a big sip from his drink.

"Unsubscribe," Kai muttered and shuffled out of the room, leaving a self-satisfied Jay in his wake.
