CHAPTER THREE-----▹
Leigh Strange, walked down the street, hand in hand with her gorgeous finance, Wanda Maximoff.
She couldn't be happier
"So, what does my beautiful fiance want for dinner?" Leigh smiled warmly, "Pizza?"
Leigh laughed, "I'm always up for Pizza."
When the brunette noticed Wanda's silence she looked where the redhead's gaze was, "What are they?" the tv screen, behind the window read, Tony Stark Missing.
"Shit. I should probably call Nat." Leigh reached into her pocket for the burner phone, a sinking feeling spread through her, maybe her father was right.
"I'm sorry to interrupt." Leigh nearly punched whoever spoke in the face before realizing it was Vision.
"What the hell are you doing here?" she exclaimed.
"How long have you been here?" Wanda added, "Natasha sent me after you, when you weren't checking in." Vision answered.
"Natasha I swear to god," Leigh murmured but was cut off when Vison was stabbed right through his chest.
"What the fu-" Leigh was cut off as Vision got thrown across the road, and the thing, turned to growl lowly at them.
Red orbs formed in Wanda's hands and Leigh whipped out her gun, but before either of them could do anything they were both blasted forward, Wanda crashing right through a glass window and Leigh's back smacking against the brick wall.
"Ouch," Leigh murmured, before pushing herself to her feet at Vision's yells of pain, green mist floated in the air around them, as she slowed the two alien creatures.
"Wanda, love of my life, darling? Can you get Vision the fuck out of here? I can't hold them forever...they're powerful."
"On it," she stood up from the glass, floating her way to Vision and getting them both out of there, "Alright, then, it's just you guys and me now." Leigh stated releasing the time, she shot a few bullets their way, not that it did much to them.
Moments into the fight, Leigh ended up with her back against the concert, a blade stabbed through her thigh, "Fu- don't do it," she half pleaded, but the creature rippbed the blade out, "Fuck, I'm gonna bleed out." she muttered.
"Wanda incoming!" Leigh shouted unsure if the redhead would even hear her.
She couldn't
"Vision!" Wanda exclaimed as one of the creatures tore Vision away, and the other one attacked her.
"Ok, you're a doctor," Leigh muttered to herself, tearing off part of her shirt, "I just have too.." she sighed in pain tying the fabric tightly around her thigh, "Put pressure on it...at least for now."
"And we're totally losing," Leigh noted, spotting Vision being slammed against one of the old buildings.
Leigh didn't have much strength left, but she managed to muster up enough strength to make it to her feet, and limp her way over to where Wanda was fighting off one of the beings, she slowed the time enough for Wanda to back up.
"You ok?" Wanda asked, "Just peachy."
They were both startled once again by the pained screams from Vision, "I'll be ok, you can fly. Go get him."
Wanda gave Leigh a singular nod, before taking off, upward to where Vision was. "Hands off." Wanda ordered blasting the thing off of Vision and down through the glass.
Wanda flew up as Leigh did her best to hold off the other being, but Wanda and Vision got thrown into the glass roof, just before Leigh could hold her off.
"Wanda!" she shouted, "Oh, you're asking for it now." Leigh stated, wrapping her hand around the ailen's spear, she couldn't do much of her fighting style, when she could only put weight on one of her legs.
A sharp pain shot up her left leg, as she ripped the spear from her hands, and blasted the alien back.
Leigh quickly turned on her heels and broke into a limping sprint in the direction of the metro station, running down the stairs, huffing in pain.
"Wanda!" she shouted, scrambling towards her,
"Leigh," Wanda released a breath of relief, seeing her fiance alive.
The two beings landed in front of them, and Leigh from her spot on the ground, weakly held them back. When Wanda's head snapped in the direction behind the train, Leigh looked over her shoulder also.
"Oh thank god," Leigh murmured spotting none other than Steve Rogers, then in from the side came Sam, knocking one of them over.
Leigh watched from the side as Steve, Sam, and Natasha fought off the beings.
Natasha never ceased to impress Leigh, she always had wanted to be like her mentor.
"Hi, Nat." she whispered, the blonde haired woman did not look happy with her, "We will be having a serious conversation about this Leigh." she warned.
"I figured." Leigh murmured, "Can you stand?" Natasha held out her hand, "Barely."
Leigh leaned against Natasha and Wanda, "Thank you Captian." Vision thanked.
"Let's get back to the jet."
---
"I thought we had a deal, Leigh." Natasha closed the back of the jet, "Stay close, check in. Don't take any chances."
"I know...I'm sorry." Leigh spoke gently, "You could've gotten yourself...and Wanda killed." Natasha noted, walking over to Leigh.
"Let me see it," Natasha instructed, and Leigh hesitantly unwrapped her leg, "Jesus, Leigh."
Natasha turned back slightly to Steve, "Can you hand me the first aid kit?" he nodded.
"This might burn a bit," Natasha said softly, cleaning the wound, Leigh hissed in pain, "Sorry," she blew on it a bit, "This is going to need stitches."
"Yeah, I thought so," Leigh agreed, "Lucky for you, I'm great at stitches."
"It's a good thing, because if I had to do them on myself, it would probably be rough." Leigh stated, "Yeah, I wouldn't suggest it."
"My dad called..." Leigh whispered, as Natasha started the stitches, "Oh?"
"I told him off...I told him never to contact me again, and...now I find that maybe he was right? Maybe the fate of the world is at stake."
"Leigh...it's not like you were fully in the wrong. He hasn't made any effort to contact you, or to mend your relationship."
"What if?" Leigh released a sharp pained breath, "Sorry," Natasha murmured.
"What if I never see him again? And that was the last thing I ever said to him."
"I could lie to you and say that you'll see him again," Natasha started, "But the truth is there isn't ever any promise of tomorrow,"
"Gee, thanks Nat." Leigh stated, "We're gonna figure this out, Leigh. Just like we always do. One step at a time."
"One step at a time."
AVENGERS FACILITY, UPSTATE NEW YORK
"Are you ready for this?" Leigh asked, her leg propped up on the chair, "Always, Strange. Always." Natasha smirked.
"Are you ok to walk?" Wanda whispered fiddling with Leigh's hand, "I'll be okay. I've had worse."
"Let's do this," Leigh stated, forcing herself into an upright position, "Alright."
The six of them made their way into the building, "Mr. Secratary," Steve greeted dryly.
"You got some nerve. I'll give you that." the hologram of Secretary Ross spoke, "You could use some of that, right now." Natasha stated.
"The worlds on fire. And you think all is forgiven?" Ross asked, "I'm not looking for forgiveness." Steve replied.
"I don't think any of us are," Leigh noted, "Earth just lost her best defender. So we're here to fight. And if you wanna stand in our way...we'll fight you too." Steve finished.
"Arrest them." Ross stated, "All over it." Rhodey replied before ending the virtual meeting.
"That's a court-martial." Rhodey stated, "It's great to see you, Cap."
"You too, Rhodey." Steve spoke, and Natasha reached to hug him, "Wow, you guys really look like crap. Must've been a rough couple of years."
"Yeah, well the hotels weren't exactly five-star."
"Well, I uh, think you guys look great," Banner walked out, "Dr. Banner," Leigh smiled, "Dr. Strange? Or so I hear."
"That's me," she smiled.
---
"So we gotta assume they're coming back." Leigh leaned against Wanda, "And they can clearly find us."
"We need all hands on deck. Where's Clint?" Bruce asked, "After the whole Accords situation, he and Scott took a deal. It was too tough on their families. They're on house arrest."
"Who's Scott?" Bruce questioned, "Ant-man." Steve answered, and Leigh gave him a sympathetic look, "You missed quite a bit."
"There's an Ant-Man and a Spiderman?"
"Ok, look. Thanos has the biggest army in the universe. And he is not going to stop until he gets...Vision's stone."
"Well then we have to protect it," Natasha spoke up, and Leigh nodded.
"No, we have to destroy it." Vision spoke, glancing out the window, "I've been giving it a great deal of thought to this entity in my head. About its nature. But also its composition. I think if it were exposed to a sufficiently powerful energy source...something very similar to its own signature perhaps. Its molecular integrity could fail."
"Yeah, and you with it," Wanda pointed out, "Eliminating the stone, is the only way to be certain Thanos won't get it." Vision spoke,
"We don't do that..." Leigh muttered, "We don't...trade lives."
"Cap did, did he not?" Vision pointed out, "The difference is you might have a choice," Bruce spoke up, "Your mind is made up of a construct of overlays. Jarvis, Ultron, Tony, me...and the stone. All of them mixed together, all of them learning from one another."
"We can still have Vision without the stone," Leigh realized, "Precisely,"
"Can we do that?" Natasha asked, "Not me, not here."
"Well, you better find someone and somewhere fast," Rohdey stated, "Ross isn't just gonna let you guys have your old rooms back."
"I know somewhere," Steve stated.
"You do?"
