Lana's P.O.V.

When I woke the next morning a slight chill ran through the house. It's early Spring and the world hasn't quite warmed yet. Noticing that the window of my bedroom was open, and that that was probably most of the reason it was so cold in here, I went over to close it only to find Ekinu sitting on the ground.

"What are you doing?" I asked still half asleep.

"I opened the window to see if I could chill you awake."

"Why?"

"Dunno. I just wanted to try something new. Anyway, do you wanna go for a run before your mother wakes?"

"I'd love to. Just let me change and grab some money to stash I'm the treehouse and I'll meet you in a minuet."

"Alright. See you soon." Ekinu got up and started walking back over to the tree house.

I pulled up a loose board on the floor and grabbed the money I had hidden there in a small box then put the board back down. I pulled on a pair of jeans and a black t-shirt then went out to the tree house with the box of money in hand.

Maria's P.O.V. (Lana and Carina's mother)

When I woke I noticed that Lana was gone. Probably went out to the woods with that wolf. I guess I'll just let her be for now... Since Carina was still asleep I left a note on the table telling her where I went and left to go shopping.

"Wait Maria, come talk with me a bit haven't seen you in a while." My friend, Daisy, called from the doorway of her house as I was walking home.

"Alright, I guess I could stay for a few minutes." I said back and went over to her. We both sat in the chairs on her porch.

"So how are the girls?" Daisy asked.

"Well Carina is pretty much the same as always, clumsy and not too smart, but she is a wonderful girl, and getting better at her sowing too. Lana is a good teacher. Oh, but I'm a bit worried about Lana..."

"Well what are you worried about? It always helps to tell someone."

"There is this boy, Lana really likes him but.... Well I shouldn't say, I guess he just, you know, isn't normal. Not that I'm saying that being different is bad buy he isn't even human," The words came before I could stop myself and as soon as I realized what I had said I slapped my hand over my mouth. "Wasn't supposed to say that..." I mumbled.

"What do you mean, 'he isn't even human'"

"I really should be going the girls have been alone for quite a while now." I stood up and picked up my groceries.

"Maria we're friends, and I won't tell anyone, so what do you mean?" I sat back down in defeat. If I don't tell I'll lose a good friend.

"He, well, he can turn into a wolf. Now I know this sounds crazy but I seen it with my own eyes. Carina and Lana have too. He seems like a nice boy at first but, I just don't trust him. He's more of an animal that a man if you ask me."

"Sounds dangerous."

"Oh yes. I've seen him killing deer in the forest. His wolf's teeth and claws are very sharp, and he runs so fast you can hardly see him move. Even worse he's taught Lana to ride him too. I'm afraid he'll hurt her even if it's an accident."

"Yes she could get hurt. Where's he been staying?"

"The tree house. I won't have no animals in my house."

"Have you tried making him leave?"

"I wanted too but... Lana would be so angry..."

"Hmm. Next week I'll come over and make him leave. Lana can't be mad at you that way. Just make sure she ain't there when I come."

"Alright, but you can't tell anyone about this."

"I won't. I promise."

"Thank you. I'll be going then. Goodbye."

"Goodbye then. I'll see you next week."

Lana 's P.O.V.

Ekinu and I had stopped by a lake deep in the middle of the forest. It's so peaceful here we just love coming here. Ekinu, still in wolf form, was standing very close to the water.

"Don't get wet. I hate the smell of wet fur." I said.

"I know. I know. I'll be careful." Ekinu said. Yes, he can talk when he's in wolf form.

"Lana! Ekinu!" Carina called.

"Over by the lake!" I called back.

Within the next two minutes Carina appeared next to us. She pet Ekinu's furry head and he seemed to like it since he pressed his head closer to her hand, after a second though he trotted over and sat down on the ground next to me.

"Did mum send you?" I asked.

"No. She left to get groceries so I thought maybe now would be a good time for me to learn how to ride Ekinu."

"Oh. What do you say Ekinu?"

"Sure, why not." Ekinu shrugged. He went back over next to Carina and knelt down a bit so she could climb on. His wolf form was half the height of her.

Carina nervously climbed on and Ekinu took off fast. Not nearly as fast as he does with me though.

"SLOW DOWN!" Carina screamed.

"We never know when we'll have to leave so you'll need to learn how to ride when we're going fast. Besides this isn't nearly as fast as I usually go." Ekinu said. Though I did notice him slow down a bit.

We continued with Carina's training until about 2:00 and in the end she seemed more tired than Ekinu. We decided to head back after that because I was worried about why mum hadn't come looking for us yet.

"Where have you been all day!?" Mum asked when we came in the house.

"We were in the forest." I replied.

"There are wild animals out there. You could've been hurt."

"We wouldn't get hurt. Ekinu was with us."

"Oh I know he was."

"So are you saying he's a wild animal again?"

"He is Lana."

"You do realize you're being racist?"

"Its not racist he is an animal not a human."

"It doesn't matter! You're a horrible person! He has feelings too you know and every time you say something like that it hurts him!" I yelled then ran off to my room so she wouldn't see me cry. As I left I could almost swear I saw a confused look on her face. As if she hadn't realized that he had feelings.
