Sonakshi started her new rotation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, which meant a lot of night calls as most deliveries tend to happen in the middle of the night. Sonakshi was glad Sneha was also posted with her but their call nights were always different. Ritwik was the senior student; he seemed to be particularly pleased to have his call nights with Sneha....."hmm" Sonakshi would tease Sneha as Sneha would turn red whenever Ritwik's name was mentioned. Sonakshi would obligingly change her duties with Sneha so that Ritwik could be with Sneha......However, Sonakshi was missing Dev's company.....she remembered the long days and evenings she spent with him on the surgical floor...... "Well such is life....jo mera nahin hai.....uski chahat karne se kya faida!" she consoled herself.

Dev in the mean time was doing his rotation in the Emergency Room which was extremely busy-he had no time to even sit down and think-whenever he did, he would remember that evening out with Sonakshi and sigh! Natasha had confronted him the very next morning but he had dismissed her fears saying that Sonakshi was just a friend. Natasha had looked very emotionally labile when she had come to him and he did not want to get her more worked up. Anyways, he had decided to wait till their finals when he would tell Natasha the truth.

One night when Dev was dealing with an emergency, he saw Sonakshi and her senior resident in the ER (Emergency Room). He was thrilled to see her, and he left what he was doing and walked towards Sonakshi, "Hii Sonakshi....long time no see....strange.....tum gynae mein ho?"

Sonakshi's face also lit up when she saw Dev. They started discussing the case and before they knew it, Dev was walking upstairs with Sonakshi to the Gynae floor. He followed her to the Doctor's sleeping room and settled on the sofa there.

"Dev, tumhein ER nahin jaana?" Sonakshi was surprised to see him so relaxed.

"Meri shift toh pehle hi khatam ho gayi thi, I was just hanging around to see if there would be any interesting cases.....well I found something even better..." he winked.

Sonakshi blushed at his flirtatious comment but did not mind it. "Ab mujhe sone do, pataa nahin kab mera pager baj jayegaa.....now you go" she snapped her fingers at him.

"Toh so jao, main bas yahin sofa par baith karr computer par research kar loonga" he logged on to the computer in the room. Sonakshi was soon fast asleep as Dev sat on the sofa pretending to work on the computer but kept staring at her, "sote hue toh aur bhi beautiful lagti hai" he got up and sat down beside her, he was about to kiss her face when her pager went off...BEEP....BEEP.....Sonakshi woke up with a startle and saw Dev beside her, "tum yahaan?"

Dev got embarrassed, "Wo mein tumhein jagaane aaya tha....kab se baj rahaa tha tumhara pager.....jaao....jaldi....delivery ke liye bulaa rahe hain" Sonakshi jumped off the bed, put on her clogs, her stetohscope around her neck and ran out the door.

She came back after an hour to find Dev fast asleep on her bed. She smiled and sat down on the sofa....and started humming one of her favorite song:

Sonakshi sat on the sofa with her legs curled up and arms around her legs, her chin resting on her knees. She knew Dev belonged to someone else, but why was she getting attracted to him .....why did she miss him when he was not there......yeh pyaar nahin toh aur kya hai.......yeh koi zaroori nahin ki wo bhi mujhse utna hi pyaar kare jitna main usse karne lagi hoon.......she fell asleep on the sofa thinking about Dev.....

Dev and Sonakshi kept meeting often whenever she was on night call. Dev would bring his books to study to the Gynae floor even when he was not supposed to be in the hospital. Natasha was promptly informed of this development by one of her many informers.

One day when Sonakshi was alone in the doctor's room, she heard a loud knock. "Dev, door khula hai....andar aa jao" she assumed it was Dev.
"Dev nahin......uski hone waali wife!!" Natasha barged in. "Sonakshi, main tumhein pehle bhi warn kar chuki hoon.....Dev aur meri shaadi hone waali hai.....stay out of his life"

"Natasha, you are mistaken.....hum dono mein aisa koyi relation nahin hai.....we are just friends....."

"Dev does not like girls like you anyways......he thinks you are just another colleague....tum hi uske peeche padi ho......"

"Natasha, you are going too far.......main aisa kuch bhi nahin kar rahi hoon....you can please leave....." Sonakshi turned her face to the wall as she was fuming with anger.

"I will make sure you are not even invited to our wedding......you.....dekh loongi tumhein.....!" she left in anger.

A little later, Dev walked in with his books. "Sonakshi, kya hua......itni upset kyon dikh rahi ho? Haan aaj hostel se nikalte nikalte der ho gayi....."

Sonakshi was still facing the wall, "Dev, please tum chale jao...... ab yahaan mat aana!"

"Kyon kya hua.....senior resident ko mera yahan aana pasand nahin aata kya?"

"Dev, main tumhari well being ke liye keh rahi hoon.......please GO"

"Sonakshi....I know what is best for me......aisi kya baat ho gayi ki tum mujhe yahaan se jaane ke liye keh rahi ho??"

"Dev, I don't want to be responsible for breaking anyone's relationship.....Natasha aayi thi yahan"

"OH! Natasha! But Sonakshi, mera Natasha se aisa koyi relation nahin hai.....she is just a friend."

"Tumhein yaad dilaa doon, tumhari usse jaldi shaadi ho rahi hai....tab toh relation ban jayegaa naa?" she said sarcastically.

"Sonakshi....Sonakshi....wo Natasha ki imagination hai....I have never promised anything like that to her....shaadi ki toh baat bhi nahin hui hai.....please believe me" Dev pleaded.

"Dev, koi ladki itna bada jhooth nahin bol sakti, I don't believe you Dev. I think sab ki khushi issi mein hai, ki hum apni dosti aur naa badhayein." She picked her sthethoscope and walked put of the room.

Dev left the hospital towards Natasha's house. He wanted to clear matters that same night; he was not going to wait for the finals now....

Natasha's Home

"Aunty, Natasha hai?"

"Dev, kya aaj tum donon ki fight huyi hai? Wo aaj apne room mein locked baithi hai...naa khaa rahi hai....naa baat karr rahi hai...bas Dev...Dev keh rahi hai."

"Main dekhta hoon" Dev went upstairs to her room
She finally opened the door after Dev pleaded repeatedly. She hugged him tightly as soon as he walked in, "Dev.......I can't live witohut you.....please don't go any where....." Dev saw a bottle of sleeping pills at her bedside-the bottle was empty. He saw her collapse to the ground. They rushed her to the emergency.

After a few hours of resuscitation, she was out of danger.

Pawan looked like a broken man as he came up to Dev, "Dev, please isska dhyaan rakho...koyi ladai jhagda mat karo....I know young logon mein kabhi kabhi ladai ho jaati hai....par she is very sensitive.....agar aaj usse kuch ho jaata toh main apne aap ko kabhi maaf nahin karta...." Pawan started sobbing on Dev's shoulder. Dev was speechless....there was no way he could say anything to Natasha or her parents at this moment.

"Yes, sir....I will try my best....to keep her happy...."

And I know, this might sound a little weird, but can someone recommend good names of some small towns or villages....Like Palampur types....it might even be fictional....because I need to use it for the next update.....😊
