XIII.

“You should rest. ”, Shehnaaz coaxed softly.

“Are you leaving?”, Siddharth asked anxiously.

Shehnaaz hesitated for a few seconds before she replied, “I’ll leave later.”

Siddharth was relieved, barely able to feign indifference, “Whatever you’re fine with. You can stay as long as you’d like.”

With the drugs taking effect, Siddharth’s face was looking better. Every time he had a stomach ache, he would feel particularly tired. Obviously his eyelids were fighting to close, yet he still couldn’t help but squint and look at her from time to time.

Shehnaaz sat quietly beside him, with no expression on her face.

When the sunset glow came through the window, it brought a few soft rays of light to her face.

The two stayed together quietly.

There was a kind of gentle and peaceful atmosphere.

Siddharth felt at ease and fell asleep.

He didn’t know how long he slept. Hearing the sound of the door closing, he opened his eyes, only to find that Shehnaaz did not leave. Instead, she walked in through the door.

Had she just left? He must have slept like he was dead, unaware of anything happening around him.

Siddharth was shocked by a cold sweat. He stabilized his emotions. Afraid that shehnaaz would see that he was out of control, he immediately closed his eyes and pretended to be asleep.

Shehnaaz put something on the table, then she walked towards him.

“ Siddharth?”, She quietly whispered.

The sound was clear and surprisingly nice.

Siddharth continued to sleep.

Suddenly, her hand touched his face.

If he hadn’t been used to acting, his muscles would have twitched.

Her hand touched his eyes gently and meticulously, the strength of her fingertips as light as a feather.

Full of cherished feelings.

He was like a treasure in her hand.

“If only you grew up.”, Shehnaaz’s fingers slid gently across his lips, sounding somewhat self-mocking.

Grew up?

Siddharth sneered in his heart. Was he still not big enough?

Her voice sounded anxious. “You’re out in the sun, so you can’t see how cruel the entertainment industry is. You have offended too many people. Even though there are fans holding you up, if one day they step down, who will help you?”

Siddharth didn’t expect her to worry about this.

Shehnaaz sighed, “I don’t have power anymore. I can’t help you when that time comes.”

He didn’t need her help.

Shehnaaz smiled bitterly, “You probably don’t want me to help you. Even if I wanted to advise you not to be too proud and to be more modest, you wouldn’t listen to me.”

Siddharth: “…”

He was red and purple. Everybody who saw him would compliment him. Who dared to say that he was not good?

Shehnaaz humbled him.

Siddharth’s heart was soft, and he knew that she was right.

Shehnaaz’s fingers left his face, and Siddharth still felt the lingering warmth.

“When I was a child, there were a lot of ugly red spots on my face.”

Shehnaaz seemed a little sad, her voice reminiscent. “At that time, I was bullied and no one helped me. Everyone said that I was ugly. ”

Who was ugly? He was the best-looking person in the world, and second place was Shehnaaz.

There was no third place. They were all ugly.

“I was ashamed of myself. And I felt ugly even after the red spots on my face disappeared.”

Siddharth’s eyelashes trembled. He didn’t understand this inferiority complex because he was praised from a young age.

Shehnaaz touched her face. “I started to use makeup. And it was only when I looked at my made-up face that I could be a little confident”

Was this why she didn’t dare to see people without makeup?

Siddharth had thought that she was just haughty. He suddenly felt a little upset.

“When I first saw you, I thought that you were very beautiful and confident, completely different from me.”

Shehnaaz said sweetly, “I was always thinking about you. I wish I had been as beautiful as you. Then I could have left the house.”

The more Siddharth listened, the more upset he felt, and the more he wanted to comfort her and say, “You look beautiful, too.”

Shehnaaz laughed, “But you didn’t like me, and I felt more and more inferior.”

Siddharth felt his heart twist, and was overwhelmed with pain.

Was her inferiority complex caused by him?

Shehnaaz said with relief: “Now I don’t care. If you feel inferior, you feel inferior. I don’t have to act anymore anyways, so I don’t need to pretend I’m confident.”

Siddharth’s heart twisted again. She couldn’t act, and he was the one who suppressed her.

Shehnaaz’s voice lowered, “And I gave up on you, so I don’t need to be dressed up in front of you.”

His heart was not twisted, but it was cut with hatred, and a blood-soaked pain ran over him.

Siddharth sat up quickly, “You are beautiful.”

Shehnaaz was shocked and quickly looked away.

Siddharth was embarrassed, “No, I mean, the night is very beautiful.”

Shehnaaz looked out the window. It was a sad, cold, and rainy night. Beautiful?

Siddharth was even more embarrassed. He was out of his mind. What was he trying to say? Why couldn’t he say what he wanted to say?

Why was it that at the key moment, his mouth was zipped shut?

He rushed to remedy the situation and wanted to restore his good image. “I said, what are you ashamed of? Look at your eyes, like stars. Look at your mouth, like a rose. Look at your skin. It’s not as white as snow like mine, but it’s pretty.”

Was he comforting her?

Shehnaaz looked at him as though he were an idiot.

Siddharth felt that the more he said the more unreliable he sounded. In a hurry, he simply held her face, “I said that it’s not worth being ashamed, and I’ve never made friends with those who don’t look good. Anyways, nobody looks as good as me.”

Siddharth saw shehnaaz looked cold and thought that he had messed up.

Why was it so difficult to comfort someone?

Shehnaaz saw him like this, and couldn’t help but laugh out loud, her eyes bright and her smile warm.

The anxiety in Siddharth’s heart was washed away by this smile.

When this person laughed, her eyes were as bright as the stars.

Shehnaaz smiled deeper. “Eat something. Adith said that you didn’t eat anything.”

Siddharth paused. “You met Adith?”

Shehnaaz nodded. “When I came here, I ran into him. He said that he had to go to the hospital to see a doctor because he broke his leg and asked me to take care of you.”

Siddharth : “…”

Shehnaaz handed him the porridge. The rice was thick and fragrant.

Siddharth immediately took it and took two sips, then said in a dignified manner, “The porridge you made, it’s delicious.”

Shehnaaz, with no expression, “Oh, I bought it.”

Siddharth almost choked on the porridge in his mouth. Why didn’t it go the way he planned?

After eating the porridge, Siddharth’s stomach did not hurt as much, so he slowly sat up from the sofa.

Shehnaaz immediately got up, cleaned, and picked up her shoulder bag. “Since you’re feeling better, I’m leaving.”

Siddharth was a little worried. “It’s raining outside.”

Shehnaaz, coolly: “It’s more romantic to walk in the rain.”

Siddharth wasn’t sure that Shehnaaz would stay for him.

His eyes dimmed, his fingers clenched, and he made a decision.

“I have something to tell you.”

Shehnaaz about to leave. Hearing his words, she took a step.

Siddharth, standing in the shadow of the light, gave a strong feeling of determination.

“Let’s renew the contract.”

Shehnaaz turned back and saw that Siddharth had already run to the computer and written the contract.

The computer was connected to the printer and the contract printed quickly.

Siddharth held the contract and handed it to shehnaaz. “Let’s sign the contract.”

Shehnaaz hesitated before taking the contract. But instead of looking at it, she looked at Siddharth, seeming to hesitate.

Siddharth, afraid that she would regret taking this contract in her hands, immediately took out a pen and stuffed it into her hand.

“We’re in the same boat now. The news of the two of us is so hot recently. Everyone knows now that we’re a very loving couple.”

Shehnaaz, with some self-ridicule, “What about it? Don’t they think it’s not true?”

This sentence stabbed Siddharth, and he was full of emotion.

“But if we divorce during this time, it’ll be a big blow to me.”

Shehnaaz threw the contract on the ground. “What about it. It’s none of my business.”

Siddharth felt he had been hit, and his heart was overwhelmed with all sorts of emotions.

“The content of the contract is… we pretend to love each other, and when the heat dies down, we’ll…discuss divorce.”

Siddharth said without confidence, “You can ask for anything you want. If you want to get back into acting I can immediately get you connections to a big production.”

Shehnaaz was silent for a long time before she said, “Let me think about it.”

Siddharth was immediately overjoyed. Shehnaaz had rejected him too many times; it was rare for her to consider it, so he was very happy.

“Then think about it slowly, I’m not in a hurry.”,  Siddharth immediately picked up the contract on the ground and then forced it onto shehnaaz.

Shehnaaz considered it for a long time, and Siddharth sat across from her, staring.

Shehnaaz was sleepy, so after a lot of thinking, she fell asleep on the sofa.

Siddharth stared at the contract and waited, until he looked up and found shehnaaz sleeping.

He wanted to pick her up and take her to bed to sleep, but he was afraid that she would wake up and want to go back.

He simply took a quilt and covered her with it

Though quiet and beautiful, shehnaaz’s face was a little pale and haggard.

Siddharth felt that his heart was tied to a deer, jumping east and west. It refused to settle down.

He sneaked a kiss on her cheek while she slept.

Just a touch.

Like a thief.

Siddharth did not know when he fell asleep, but he did not see shehnaaz when he woke up.

He was shocked and looked around, only to confirm that he really was the only one left in the apartment.

He fell into a bad mood when he saw the contract on the table.

He was starting to get nervous again.

Shehnaaz wouldn’t say no, would she? He turned the contract slowly, and found that it already had shehnaaz’s signature.

There was only one requirement in the conditions section.

She wanted to film a movie.

For Siddharth, such a request was just a matter of waving his hand.

Siddharth looked at the contract and couldn’t help but smirk. “Signing it means you can’t let me go. I don’t believe that you’ll still say you don’t want me.”

The contract was just a means of binding; many stars signed this kind of contract.

But people were emotional, and there were many people who were interested in the end.

There were many opportunities to tempt her.

**********

Siddharth checked his hair, no mess, very good.

He also checked the clothes on his body, elegant and stylish.

He wore sunglasses and a mask, but he still could see his handsome visage.

Very good, he was perfect.

The people who came to watch the movie couldn’t help but detour. From the stand at the doorway, they held up a make-up mirror.

Siddharth was afraid that shehnaaz would not come. He said that he would like to watch movies with her.

Dates start with watching a movie, then eating a meal, and finally some pa pa pa…… Ahem.. Ahem....

Siddharth saw shehnaaz at the corner of his eye, and he immediately rushed to her.

Then, when she was not prepared, he lowered his head and kissed her face.

Kissing through the mask.

Shehnaaz was scared and stepped back two steps. Siddharth immediately took her hand and intimately intertwined their fingers.
